Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

What's with the sudden increase in Tinkerer?

I played a little over half a dozen trials this morning and nearly every single killer - particularly Blight players - was using Tinkerer. It's the most bizarre trend I've seen in DbD so far. Is there a killer challenge related to Tinkerer or something?

They watched a couple of the popular streamers all using it.

    It's pretty lackluster imo.

The majority of the killers I faced last night were using Tinkerer too. It was bizarre.

Ruin is also making a comeback paired with Hex Undying.

it got buffed recently to warn the killer that a generator is at 70% instead of 80%

When they changed Billy Tinkerer got pretty significantly buffed. It really is a great informational tool, and with PGtW it can really have some huge influence over the match if you're effective at downing survivors. I played around with it a bit on Leatherface and it's pretty satisfying to stealth up to a gen that's nearly done, one shot the survivor on it, then pop their gen.

One of Blight's major downfalls is he's quite easy to avoid when you know he's coming, so being able to approach stealthily is pretty good.

Which was predictable. I've been waiting impatiently for the release and had banked my million BP just so I could immediately unlock Undying for my Myers. If ever there was a Killer that needed the slow down Ruin+Undying provides, it is him. :)

    Its good for blight

Tinkerer/Ruin/Undying is the new high-mobility meta. Tinkerer/Ruin was already a good combo when it worked, but Undying makes it so that it works in almost every trial, so now it's actually meta instead of just being a kinda meme thing that sometimes works if they don't find the totem.

Nah, some people can just think on their own. It was buffed from alerting you at 85% to 70% gen progress which usually gives you enough time to get to the gen. Bubba with this perk is nuts and gets you sooo many free downs in red ranks it's hilarious. It's also really good on Blight because of his mobility and if coupled with PGTW it's even better. it allows you to defend gens much easier.. what's not good about it? Isn't that what killers complain about every day? This perk literally tells you when a gen is going to be completed and give you 0 terror radius to sneak up on them. Easy choice.

Having the undetectable status effect for 16 seconds when a gen is 70% done is huge, especially for killers that can move across the map fast.

The duration of Undetectable is too short to generally make it to the gen even on the fastest of killers unless you literally happen to already be close to it and not in the middle of a chase, so you are rarely truly capitalizing on it much.

More or less a perk for a 70% threshold ping. I'd rather just run discordance.

I'm not saying it's "bad", just that I think there are better options and over exaggerated.

Who do you play though? On Blight you can get to most gens if you drop chase immediately and prioritize gens. I use it to set up 3 gens and have great success. My build is Corrupt Intervention, BBQ, Tinkerer, and PGTW. Idc for ruin never have but with the new blight hex perk it's probably even better. I don't like discordance anymore because most games start with survivors on the far side of the map and they just start a gen together. Yeah i know they are on it but i have to travel across the entire map to get there. I would rather just use C.I. and block them from working it entirely.

Since they buffed it to trigger at 70% completion Tinkerer is much more useful, especially with a high mobility killer like Blight who can easily get to the gen before it’s completed even from across the map. It also happens to work well with Ruin or Pop. Ruin automatically regresses the gen you just chased someone off so you are guaranteed to get a new alert when they get back on it, and Pop synergizes because Tinkerer is giving you optimal targets to kick for a Pop trigger.

I don’t use Tinkerer with killers who only move at normal walking speed because it doesn’t pay off wuite as often, but Blight or Hillbilly in particular can make excellent use of it.

It’s actually an amazing perk especially thanks to blights release with his speed to get to those gens easily and with undying to keep ruin up since ruin causes tinkerer to proc a lot easier I have had a ton of games with 5 gens up and both totems alive with Brutal Tinkerer Ruin Undying

It worked good with ruin after the tinkerer buff. Now we got undying to increase the consistency of ruin. Of course tinkerer will increase in consistency now.

Spine Chill meta is all i'm saying.

Even if it fades right before you get there, they still have to react really quickly to your presence. It may not be the best undetectable perk out there, but it has utility and will reliably activate multiple times a trial.

It got a slight buff maybe it made its way into the meta somehow

Tinkerer was only ok when it was 12 seconds at 85% gen completion but now that its 16 seconds, 70% and in combination with a high mobility killer and something to regress it back down to before 70% people are using it because the perk is in a good spot

It's another undeserved, unbalanced killer buff to a perk that rewards a killer for the opposing side of doing the objective. I don't blame killers for using such a perk. Other perks are stronger such as POP because it removes the objective progress. Ruin is even better.

Buffed tinkerer is very good, probably better than discordance. Now, with the blight out, it's more popular than ever.

Has to do with the addition of blight and the billy rework:

Blight can move at very high speeds, and without a terror radius he can quickly approach people on gens and push them away from it, as well as garantiing a hit.

billy with his new apex muffler addon (survivors can only hear the chainsaw noise when in his terror radius). That with thinkerer basically allows billy be completely silent while using his chainsaw, and chainsaw survivors stealthily

Blight can really make good use out of it, also since the buff it's actually a pretty decent perk that is also fun to use

Watching the panic when you show up without them suspecting it never get's old

Its a good alternative to discordance, especially on high map pressure killers.

To be fair, considering Tink is a Billy Main Perk. It's safe to say Blight, which just came out, is perfect for that perk.
