Time to uninstall.
I don’t expect people to care as I haven’t been on this forum for a long time, but I’m still going to post my thoughts.
I’ve played this game for a long time, on both sides. I have bought every single DLC chapter and have spent way more money on cosmetics than I’d like to admit, but recently I just don’t have fun and it’s because of the people I’m forced to play with or against. I was so excited for Felix and the graphics update but 90% of the matches I’ve had since the update have been with killers that either face camp or tunnel. I expect to see this once in a while but not almost every single match. Maybe I’m being extremely unlucky with whatever server I’m being put on, but I’m having a terrible time and I’m finding myself getting annoyed which is something I don’t want any game to do to me. So it’s time to bow out.
It is sad as I truly do love this game and the hard work put into cosmetics etc but I just can’t cope with the absolute shitfest that is the player base. It’s not as bad for a killer, but I didn’t buy or invest in this game to only play one role.
Also, it’s not always me being face camped, in fact, it’s rarely me. But being in those matches still drags me down as it’s no fun having to just sit on generators whilst your team are camped at the hook. Where is the fun? This game is called Dead By Daylight, not generator simulator.
Hopefully the rest of you are having better matches and maybe I will return but I can’t see it being anytime soon. I’m completely drained by constantly going against people who’s sole goal is to make people have a terrible time.
Daisy,
👋🏻 💚

You are the kind that have been ignored for a long time. A solo survivor is at an extreme disadvantage with all the survivor nerfs vs killer buffs and stronger killer perks that have been done. Without SWAT level coordination and genrushing, you are guaranteed to lose.
21 -
Please don't leave, try killer, you might like it. Tunneling is a strategy that needs a significant nerf, and I expect a nerf for it soon.
5 -
I agree a lot of killers seem to have their fun by denying the enjoyment of survivors.
A lot of killer main streamers/YouTubers seem to encourage this kind of behaviour.
I don't understand why camping doesn't slow down hook process, or at least buff camaraderie to counter camping.
11 -
Yeah, the camping and tunneling part of this game is the reason I don't invite any friends to play this game, and it's the reason the friends I've made in this game no longer play.
Thank you BHVR.

Exactly why DS needs to be basekit. The timer shouldn't go down in a chase, you should be able to use it EVERY time you get unhooked, and the timer shouldn't go down while slugged as well. However, DS should deactivate if you touch a gen, fully heal, or when someone else is hooked.

As a killer who tries to play fair when i can, hopefully you come back some day

omg that's actually in the game? wow the mobile version really is lightyears ahead of the PC version. This should pop up every single time the game loads up until survivors take notice.
For what it's worth this is why I mostly play killer now. It sucks seeing the majority of killers win by camp/tunnel/noed combo. Even worse when your team sits around and lets it happen.
This is why the devs don't nerf DS. It's there to discourage tunneling. Its not perfect but it's a necessary evil. It's also why survivors need to stop complaining about BBQ. If the killer goes to chase someone 40+metres away then they aren't camping/tunneling, that's a good thing.

It's unfortunate your deciding to leave.
I always say if you play this game solo it'll ruin you. You need to play swf to actually have fun with this game. It isn't to bully the killer like everyone thinks.
Swf helps massively against campers and tunnellers. Also you learn to not care about games since your only on to chat to your mates.

Aw, I was hoping you’d meet ScienceGuy_ on here, too! (or it may be Science_Guy)
Thought it was cute how you both had similar interest in the systematic study of structure an behavior of physics an the natural world thru observation an experiment💞😊
Yeah... completely empathize with you, most ppl probs do. I’ve experienced jus about everything in the DBD universe.
I remember how when I first hit red ranks on PS4, majority of the facecamping, tunneling, etc. stopped. The killers I get on PS4 who play that way are usually green rank, occasionally purple. But they’re rare, anymore.
Jus get a lot of DCs that bring matches down.
Mostly, I survive solo. So much easier with SWFs, but I prefer the com-less challenge, tbh.
Maybs havin’ a break from DBD for a bit will lift you up.
I’ve been contemplating deleting it off my console. Jus hoping they get a few licensed killers I like, so I’m hanging in for now.
I take short breaks here & there when I become overwhelmed in a negative way, or when I’m a li’l frustrated. The longest was 2 weeks.
Anyways, whatever you decide, DBD will always be here, as will it’s community (for better or for worse... always looking toward the better, personally🙂).
If you’re leaving for awhile, hope you back soon. It’s really uplifting to have pleasant ppl w positive contributions inhabiting the community

That wouldn't work. Without timer, survivors will abuse it by forcing killer to chase them. You only need to run in front of killer to initiate chase, so some people can literally have unlimited invincibility. Pair with UB it'll be extremely broken.

See you in a week

The killer controls who he chases, you can simply look away from the survivor to not initiate the chase.

I'm sorry, I too despise face camping although I do it on occasion if I get a toxic player that totally annoys me, but never everyone in the match. But I do find face camping matches more challenging because we don't just leave those team mates on hook to die. We work hard to save them, two of us go in and take a hit to save the person. Now I'm f they can down someone in one hit it's harder, but depending on killer can still be done. They may not be my favorite match, but better than a slug fest where he downs everyone then hangs them one by one or leaves them to bleed out. Try to challenge yourself when the killer is bad, even if you die it can be fun trying different things out.

Maybe just try taking a break instead of completely abandoning the game?
the devs are working constantly on balance and introduces new killers and perks that might encourage not camping or tunneling, and you just sometimes get very unlucky with your matches.. so taking a break, playing other games/doing other stuff and coming back later with new content etc might be the better thing if you really care about the game

Aren't you a nurse main now?

From another new player (killer perspective) - this game, at present, is set up to cause frustration and toxicity in many ways.
It was very clearly designed for a less coordinated group of players versus a killer. But now we have SWF and it creates a situation where it can be amazingly painful to be the killer, especially as these groups are almost inevitably BM.
There is nothing quite like a team of 4 changing to quadruple Morel with Toolboxes just as the timer expires and then telling you "Games full uninstall" when they destroy you to make you want to take it out on the next group you face.
On top of this, there is no killer matchmaking at present, leading to a lot of killers being put up against far higher ranked/more experienced players.
After a day or two of this - yeah, killers can get a bit ornery and may resort to tactics dedicated to taking down coordinated teams on Discord, ala hanging one up and then patrolling, or trying to eliminate an softer or more annoying target first. Welcome to the metagame arms race.
Of course, this is going to make things miserable for the solo players. But I would hesitate to put the blame on killers.
I'd blame dropping SWF on a game that does not feel properly set up for it.

I'm not OP but I'm rank 3 for both roles and I just got the game July 1st (Steam sale). This game is "easy", but that being said, the "solo queue survivor" ranges from absolute garbage to great once in a while.
But ever since crossplay was enabled, I've noticed console killers will expedite kills ASAP. Many of them camp, and many of them mori spam on down 2 (one hook). It's dumb and I used to love this game back in the low ranks but then when I unlocked all the meta perks for both sides and got really good, I realized this game is extremely "meh" at high level play. But I still play it.
But the crossplay tunnel+camp+mori makes the game demoralizing. I don't want to log on and I am almost done my rift/battle pass, but I'm contemplating permanently uninstalling. I got my 300 hours worth, maybe it's just time to move on.

Bye have a wonderful time

its funny because since the update i encounter so many 1k hour survivors with the same builds all over again -> ds, ubreakable, soul guard, dead hard
literary zero counter and i basically lost most of the games because they just swarmed the hook in the end and i could not even secure my 1-2k
6 -
That would be nice, I have never seen that one before. Theres actually not that many helpful hints as there are that tell you what your objective is

Also, I believe that most people do care, tho many are jus too cool to show it. Our generation paints this great big picture that acting like you don't care is the "cool trend" nowadays, but it's actually sad more than anything.
An if we all as a community really didn’t care, would we give puns as reassurance...
Q: how do you kno you’re in love with a flower?
A: not a daisy goes by where you don’t think about them 🤪 buh-dum-tshh!🤓
...that’s all I got😬
May you have fun gaming whatevvs games you decide to game, an game them peacefully✌🏽

Rank 4, this is my same experience. 99% of games are like this:
- Killer has an iridescent and purple add-on combo
- Sometimes they have an ebony mori as well, I ran into 4 ebony moris today.
- Killer camps hook
- If you do get off the hook they ignore your team trying to bodyblock and throw you back on and then they go back to camping--unless they have a mori then they'll mori you and you get to leave with like 4k points.
- When there's two survivors left they slug one and look for the other because they HAVE TO HAVE THAT 4K. Who cares if they leave someone slugged for 4 minutes? They have to have that 4k!!!!!
- At the end you see they had NOED.
I had a match today against a huntress who had an irri-head, an infantry belt, and an ebony mori. Two players disconnected at the start of the match, and even though bloody party streamers were in the game she wouldn't have any kind of fun with me & the remaining survivor. She slugged and hooked us both, and then I kobed off the hook and rescued myself/my teammate and she killed my teammate and took me off a door that was 90% open. Fun. Tell me again how hard killers have it?

Killers are really jus complaining about SWF matches whenever you hear someone saying, “Survivor Sided!” When we make that differentiation, acknowledging that the game isn’t at all “Solo sided,” then real discussions regarding change can be brought to the table and a solution will be discovered.
The devs should kno this, and I’m sure that they do... after all, they didn’t only create this game, they also play it every day, jus like us.
SWF has caused killers to complain frequently, as well as it has caused them to alter their play style to try an combat a team perked with coms who are ALL on the same page at all times throughout the match.
If this means, tunneling, camping, slugging, ebony’s, iri’s, OP builds & addons, etc., then that’s what they’re willing to do.
They feel threatened and bullied by SWFs jus like all of we who choose to main Solo, at times, feel bullied by killers who have their anti-SWF build/ mindset on as they go into the trial prepared for a squad of relentless com’d up dominance.
Solo has gotten less fun as devs have nerfed perks that helped a team of randoms out of tough matches.
I wish killers (especially mains) would realize, jus like I and many others have, that Solo survivors also got heavily setback from the inclusion of SWF into DBD.
Devs have to find a way to benefit an balance the game for all 3 parties... SWF, Solo & Killer.
I trust that they’ll do jus that, eventually.
I really do have faith in them.
2 -
This is just factually not true at all.
I play strictly solo queue and we 3-4e at least 75% of the matches.
1 -
Unfortunately I've been playing the game for like 4 years, so I don't really have a lot of faith. There's a reason why I take a lot of long breaks from the game, because things like this are extremeeeely exhausting.
5 -
No, camping and tunneling happen a ton at red rank. I've been playing for 4 years and I've encountered more salty killers camping and tunneling for either no reason, to be rude, or cause you loop them a little too good. And all the community has to say is it's a strategic tactic. Its not. Its a game ruiner and a fun killer.
7 -
As survivor, it can be easy to get discouraged... but you gotta remember those magic moments this game allows.
Earlier today, I had this game where Pyramid Head we were pretty well outplaying. I opened gate to 99% and waited for the 4th survivor to show himself. Unfortunately, he went down right when the other 2 rats finished the door and ran out.
I see Pyramid hook and proceed to face camp.
I felt bad because this dude was only on his first hook, so against my better judgment, I go back to try a solo rescue.
Seeing me coming back, the other survivor did not try to free himself.
I waited nearby... seconds felt like minutes. Pyramid Head was getting impatient. He began circling around, trying to find me. He then decided to check the exit, expecting me to be tbaging him or something I suspect. With about 5 seconds left on the struggle, I unhooked. We ran for it, Pyramid Head got in the way. I rush Pyramid Head like a madman, bodyblock as he tries to get to my ally, he reflexively swings, I take the hit, and we both make it out.
This game has magical moments and that moment easily outweighs 4-5 bad games.
3 -
I'm sorry that's happening to you , but if you need a break! take it,hopefully the game will be still up and running, but you're mental health is more important than any match so please take as much time as you need.
3 -
I don't believe that at all. That is not my experience. It is a bloodbath massacre 75% of the time. Then, due to EGC, the last survivor is guaranteed to die trying to open the gates.
7 -
take a break. i also take a break in time to time for example i played today and yesterday but i took like 4 to 5 days break before yesterday... it does good for you. i suggest you try it however is how the games goes. if you dont play hard agaisnt survivors they will ######### on you, so it is what it is. tahts the current meta survvors go rush damn gens as fast as possible and killers rush survivors as fast as possible unless he notices survivors are bad players so he gives them a break... i do it when i notice im going agaisnt potatoes...
0 -
This game can be overwhelming sometimes, having a single player game that is less stressful for the breaks is also helpful because jumping from one multiplayer to another you want find the peace you intend to.
0 -
I really wish before people made posts like this that they'd at least play killer for like a whole week. Everything survivors complain about they'll end up doing when they play killer. This is inevitable and the worst part is you wont even realize it. Also everyone has a different experience do not judge certain roles or even the game as a whole on yours alone.
2 -
She said she’s “played this game for a long time on both sides”
6 -
As a killer main I agree that face camping is a major problem in the game. Why run off and chase a survivor when another can simply unhook the one guy who gave you so much trouble getting?
I think there needs to be a change to the blood lust mechanic. I do like that the longer you chase you get progressively faster, but there should be a downside to it. For example if you've triggered bloodlust on the same survivor multiple times, the speed buff isn't as great as it once was. That would help with 'tunneling' survivors.
Face camping I think needs a sort of punishment in game. For example, if you stay too close to the hook for an extended time, the next time you would hit a survivor and put them into the dying state you would instead put the deep wounds status effect and your basic attack recovery would slightly be increased for 20 seconds. I'd call it the Subdued Rage effect, where while you became complacent in one spot you've lost the urge to kill for a brief moment. That'd be an incentive to me to roam and look for the other survivors to put more pressure on them.
I think these changes would help a lot with the face camping and tunneling problems running around.
2 -
Actually, the more you play killer the more frustrating scummy tactics usually are to see in matches when you're a survivor. Seeing someone that's playing badly (and you'll know they're playing badly because you have experience in the role) get rewarded for poor plays that shouldn't work is crazy tilting.
I'm honestly a killer main and I don't camp, I try not to tunnel, and if the gens are powered and I haven't killed anyone I accept it as a loss and move on, so having to play against people who play like crap and get rewarded by crutch perks like NOED or get rewarded by standing under a hook is like... Wow, this game is absolute trash.
3 -
I literally had that same game. I had a huntress with iri head, infantry belt and a ebony Mori. One guy dc'ed. I kept her busy for 1 gen until she took to my team mates and downed them. Hooked one in basement and camped the slugged one instead of hooking since he was also downed near basement. I was able to unhook but she got me with her iri head hatchet in the basement and slugged me for the injured guy who just got off hook just so she could Mori us all. I disconnected because I wasn't giving her that Mori. I wasted my last anniversary cake but I didn't want her to get that Mori on me she was so desperate and sweaty to get. I wasn't going to get that many bloodpoints from it anyway.
She then proceeded to GG ez us and laughed at our foul mood since all of our fun was ruined by that game. She thought it was funny. I exited the game and went to play overwatch. My mood to play dbd was killed.
5 -
I think you’re missing the point. Low ranks, high ranks it doesn’t matter. It’s still Generator Simulator. Survivors either stare at a generator or stare at a hook. Killers have the advantage almost every single game when you play survivor solo. It’s an absolutely atrocious experience. You wonder why there are high DC rates on survivor side is because there are glitches, camping and an extreme lack of fun no matter what you’re doing. Chases are heart pounding but it’s getting easier and easier for killers to down people. Gifted with anti loop abilities and more ways to down survivors faster. Then you get caught and might not even get to play again because once you come off the hook here comes a Mori or back on the hook. DS? Killers stunned long enough for you to take 5 steps and he slams you into the ground again. Pfff.
6 -
Welp..... that’s a lie.
8 -
Killers tunnel and camp becuz its easier that survs come to you that chasing for 80 secs and 2 gens done. Devs should try to balance for 3 escapes 1 surv not 2/2 specially having SWF.
Identity V is on the same situation. Its a camping simulator and all killers use detention (Identity NOED ver) they wanted 2 escape 2 kills as devs here and we got it.

As a killer main, I've actually found myself playing Survivor more since they removed the MMR. SWF from crossplay are way more toxic than anything I ever encountered as killer before (playing on Xbox). I used to literally play nothing but killer and now I can usually only play a couple of games before I come off and play something else.
Oh yeah, I play solo queue as Survivor and I've been tunnelled and face camped as well, I don't condone this behaviour.
1 -
Yeah, I turned off crossplay almost immediately... games were toxic, mismatched and unappealing.
Never found tunneling or face camping the appropriate method for handling any situation in a match, either.
I like the idea of the killer who is completely fed up with being a puppet for the entity and doing the entity’s bidding, an jus wants to have a fun time with the survivors.
Isn’t it sadly amusing how they watch the survivors running to freedom, yet they’re barricaded from that very sensation by the big boss’ tentacles.
Imaging all the killers teaming up to dispose of the entity so they can go back to a peaceful life, without someone telling them they’re forced to be maniacal murderers for the rest of their existence is pleasing, imo.

yea solo Queing as survivors is such a nightmare in balance because there is no balance the killer sides just gotten way to strong. so i have opted to quit playing survivor and I am strictly playing killer and i plan to play the most scummy possible killer I can be I will camp tunnel and destroy your fun as much as possible. with the entire goal being to drive away players from the game. lets fire up the campfire and make some smores!

So there’s a lot more responses than I anticipated so instead of replying to individual people I’ll just post some summarised thoughts after reading through what people had to say:
- I play both roles. I’ve seen a few replies insinuating that I only play survivor or that I should try out killer. I’ve been rank 1 on both sides and have been 50/50 since I started playing.
- I understand that camping and tunnelling can be strategic. I’m not a new player and I don’t need this explained to me. I’m perfectly aware of the ins and outs of this game. I’m talking about killers that will face camp and hard tunnel at the start of the match when there’s 5 gens left. I’ve been seeing this a lot recently and it’s just not fun to go against. Your only way to avoid it is to bring certain perks which I shouldn’t have to do, or play extremely immersive so that you’re never downed. Which again, is boring. I like to switch up my play style and try out different perk builds but recently that’s being denied by matches being absolute sweat fests. I even put on BPS recently and I got body blocked (accidentally) by a Nea at the start of the match and downed by a Bubba, who then proceeded to stand right in my face until I died on my first hook. What was his reasoning for that? 5 gens left and he decided to face camp me until I died? It was done with malicious intent and I can handle these matches once in a while, but when it’s almost becoming the ‘norm’ - enough is enough. As I said in the OP, maybe I’m just getting unlucky but after reading some responses, I’m glad it isn’t just me that’s finding this happening a lot in solo lobbies.
- I enjoy playing solo. I’m introverted and don’t enjoy playing in parties with other people. It either distracts me from the game or it can become really annoying to me hearing people constantly talking over each other. I play games for some quality down time and a part of that is not having to communicate with other people. This game has an option to play solo, so I shouldn’t have to play with other people in order to get a positive experience. If that was always the case, solo shouldn’t be in the game. But it is, so I’m allowed to vent my frustrations with the current start of the game without being told ‘just play with friends’
- I tried out some Nurse games yesterday to try and ignite a spark back in me and it did work for a while but then it got back to how I was feeling when I made this thread. I don’t want to just play killer. I want to be able to play both roles, but again my first survivor matches of the day were terrible. It was either my entire team being downed and me having to keep leaving generators to pick them up from the slug fest or it was people being tunnelled out of the game over and over.
I have decided that I will just take a break. I will eventually come back to this game as I do like it and I’ve invested a lot of time and money into it. But it’s just becoming a bit too repetitive with how toxic it is and I’d rather put my energy elsewhere for the time being. I’m not sure if lockdown has got people feeling like they have more frustrations to release, but it’s honestly becoming ridiculous with how many people go out of there way to try to make somebody else have a terrible time. There’s just no reason for it. This goes for both sides, it just personally annoys me more when the killer does it, as I feel powerless. At least when I’m the killer I can turn the tables around easier.
Anyway, like I said in my OP, I hope the rest of you that are still playing are having / continue to have better experiences. I might not completely disappear from the forums but I won’t be actually playing the game for a good while. 💚
6 -
Imagine thinking that all of your games are filled with campers and tunneling. That's just bias perspective.
As a killer 99% of my games are DS, BT, Unbreakable, DH and a 2/2 split of purple flashlights and med kits. I hear the click clack of the flashlight overpowering my headphones while simultaneously staring at a survivor either running circles after dropping their 4th pallet of that chase or tea bagging until I initiate the break pallet animation.
After breaking 11 pallets and getting 3 hooks I'm chasing my last survivor when boom adrenaline kicks in and off they go...only to be greeted by their 3 friends halfway to the gate who are body blocking and coordinating blind attempts.
Do they leave? No. They tea bag at the gates.
Now remember this is 99% of my games.
3 -
I would say, before crossplay, this was about 50% of my games. When MMR was active, I'd usually have a good game, followed by one of these. Now, if I see more than one crossplay survivor, I might as well leave the lobby.
