Shadow Nerf on Freddy's Fake Pallets
I didn't get time to take screenshots but would love if someone could. I just played a game against a fake pallet Freddy and noticed that the fake pallets were significantly greyer than the standard actual pallets. Because of this I was able to correctly know which pallets were fake and real at all times while I was asleep. This takes all the skill and fun outta of facing a fake pallet Freddy as its the survivors job to pay attention to what pallets are real and what pallets are used. I don't know if this intentional on the devs part or just a bug, but either way I'm super upset cause I personally love playing fake pallet Freddy myself and to see the playstyle get nerfed so heavily and underhandedly irks me greatly.

Fake pallet is on the left, real one on the right. The fake pallet is notably greyer.

I didn't notice a difference but if there is one then I don't mind. It's such an easy and lazy build to use.
Literally makes chases that much easier.

I mean... yeah, Freddy's snares/pallets were designed to help in a chase, just like many other killer powers.

... only Snares are much stronger and far more boring to use and go against. It's a weak addon once survivors catch on what the Freddy is running and if the screenshots are accurate (since I only ever see snare freddy's) then that is yet another bug that they have to fix with this update.

I'd rathe have snares than fake pallets. In solo survivor, they never catch up to anything. I've seen players go down by using the same fake pallet twice.

That's so dumb if true because fake pallets are much weaker than his snares and catch me off guard everytime i see them.
Really wish there were more add ons like it instead of just stat effecting perks i dont even notice as survivor

I don't like Freddy, so this is a win for me. Some people can't pay attention to which pallet they run into anyway, so it's not like it makes a huge difference.

Knowing which pallets are fake DOES make a huge difference, it means you won't spend time looping a pallet that's fake and instead knowingly avoid it. Just cause you don't like a killer doesn't mean you should celebrate them being bugged. I hate Executioner but I don't think he needs to be nerfed.

You're right. My apologies. I've had really bad times against Freddy so it's completely justified, but you're right. I hope they fix it, otherwise it's a useless power mod.

It should be fixed for sure but Fake Palettes is more for meming (if you play to win you dont bring palettes in the first place) and i doubt that most survivor will notice the difference for now. ^^

Classic survivor main. Pallet freddy is actually worse, his snares are better. But keep crying i guess.

Lul, this should be a general update.
"Paying attention to what pallets are real or fake" doesn't apply to a solo survivor who's doing a gen on one side of the map, not able to see what pallets the survivors are wasting on the other side.
Freddy has enough going for him as it is - this would be a healthy change. Unfortunate that it's a bug.

This man likes playing against Freddy. There is also no skill in playing as oe against fake pallet Freddy. It's all luck on whether your teammates threw all the pallets.

He has so much going for him that if Billy and Nurse were still good, he'd be regarded as a mediocre killer, which is what he is and what everyone thought of him when he was released.

Still an easy and lazy build to use. The snares are better for the people that know how to use them. Fake pallets are already set in place, you don't even need to think about where to place them. Just spam them everywhere.

@VentingSylar we're having trouble reproducing this...was it on every map against Freddy, or any specific pallet spawns? Any information you can give us will be a great help.

yeah I'm on Ultra and I can produce it - it's hard for me, cos I'm colour blind so seeing these differences is not the easiest thing :)
But I think we got it at least!

Awesome! I play on ultra as well and as far as I saw it was every map I could tell which pallets which fake and real while asleep as survivor. Glad you guys were able to reproduce it so it can be fixed :D

Also am just gonna put out why I love using fake pallets even though they're weaker than snares. I run enduring and spirit fury with fake pallets and personally love the paranoia that sets in survivors where they start throwing down real pallets early instead of looping them cause they get paranoid that they're fake. There's nothing in this game besides maybe having multiple survivors step in bear traps at the same time that is as gratifying as hitting someone after they throw down a fake pallet. Its just super funny and personally never gets old for me. Hence why I want them fixed.

You equate less effective to being bad, that's not the case. Especially against solo survivors.
I never called for a nerf, I only said that I wouldn't mind if this bug were there. I personally didn't notice anything so there's no real difference for me.
I still think that it's lazy and easy to use. I still prefer to go against snares over pallets.

Snares are more powerful. Just because you have a bad memory doesn't make pallets better than snares.

Not wanting devs to fix bugs is stupid. I could say "I'm glad DS is bugged and doesn't work for some reason" it's stupid, and both of them need to be fixed.

Yes, I've already admitted to that. I'd leave you a record player so that you could replay that as much as you'd like.
I don't mind if it’s there. Besides me not liking the lazy and easy pallet build, I also don't notice any difference. Whether the bug gets fixed, I don't mind.
Yes actually, I'm also glad that ds is bugged right now, if anything it can have its stun effect permanently reduced by a second or so. Given how fast gens can go, what good reason is there to allow for so many perks that can accelerate the survivors goal and slow down the killer?
