Killer main here, just realized how some of the Tome challenges can cultivate a bit of a...unfun play style for set periods of time while people try to complete the various challenges. Curious to see what other people think. Please try to be respectful to each other in the comments :)

They're talking about how it encourages people to just tunnel and camp, or bring a mori if just want to end it fast.
I don't know who is in charge of the rift but they need some supervision lol

Rancor Roulette is how I did it.
Nemesis/Furtive Chase/Deathbound/Rancor
Survivor approved, Entity hates it!

I might have to use this. I've been using rancor but not pairing it with those other perks. Thanks for the idea 😄🤘

For what it's worth, some of those tunneling killers probably feel like ######### while doing it. I know I did the first time, so I just started bringing rancor...but then in 3 out of 5 of my games, the obsession dc'd immediately. After that I ran Mori's, killed the obsession and just let the other survivors finish the gens and escape. Made me feel a teensy little bit better. Best of luck in your future games :)

I did this like a week or two ago, but I only used Furtive Chase and Rancor. It kinda turns it into a fun little game and is probably my new favorite way to try to mori a survivor.
As for the topic, that would explain why playing survivor recently has been less fun. I noticed a sizable increase in Moris, NOED, Rancor, and unfortunately camping and tunneling. I don't pay too much attention to the challenges, so I was wondering what the heck happened.

The Archive team really should come out and explain their challenge creation process. Do they just not understand the game very well? Are they testing out broken mechanics like grabs?

I just read that as "play 10 games normally or 4 games with Nemesis"
Edit: by "play" I meant "win." I'm not silly enought to think I can get a 10-game streak of obsession kills without a bit of luck.

Waiting until DS stun is fixed so survivors will run it again because I don't have Nemesis 😥

Just find a build that Nemesis or Furitive chase fit into and then play as normal. That way you get multiple obsession kills per game.
For example, Myers works well with Nemesis if you bring Judiths Journal add on. Everytime they stun you, you’ll be able to get a lot of stalk from them, especially if you have enduring too.

i took the other route LOL so i skipped that one after playing a couple of games i got like 3 kills i think and i got tired of it, and went for the hag one and the others in that line.

Yeah for this I just facecamped while cloaked with wraith and then tunneled & ofc there is the DS bug. Took me 4 games, there was understandably a lot of salt

Scummy is designed by the community. Not the devs.
Killers have one role - please the entity by killing the survivors. That is their entire objective and purpose for existing. It's even in their name. "Killer". Doing their objective is scummy.
Just like survivors have one objective - survive by repairing generators. Then they get called "toxic" for "genrushing" - aka doing their objective.
These community definitions for "scummy" are a joke.

Yeah, I got a bit frustrated after a number of my obsessions dc'd at the very start of the match or right before I could begin the mori animation. I get that it sucks and I felt kinda bad, but I want to finish these damn challenges haha.

I did it running nemesis, pwyf, CI, pop.....ya don't have to be toxic, make them stun ya with a pallet(if you can) try to make sure each survivor is obsession before killing them....doesn't work well with a good swf team but you can get it in 3 games if you sweat hard enough

I would use: Old Freddy with the black box add-on, an ivory mori, old dying light, and old remember me for that. Use black box to find the obsession instantly, hook them, tunnel and mori them off hook for dying light. God, I can't believe I used old dying light in such a scummy way.

Next challenge:
Squats training: Tea bag a killer 50 times in a match complete this challenge in a single trial. Each crouch count as one.

Right now with DS bugged it's incredibly easy to get this challenge done. I hate to admit it but I try to get challenges done as quick as seemingly possible so I'm definitely going to have 3 unfun games soon.
More than likely it will be Freddy with Nemesis and an Ebony. I don't want to be stuck on this challenge for 5+ games so I'm definitely going to get it done in 3.

So I'm working on this challenge and it feels so bad to not see those claws appear around one of the Survivors. There goes my challenge lol. I've never wanted someone to bring DS so badly.

I'm yet to do it, I plan on bringing nemesis and letting myself to get stunned, but I'm stuck on "Spilling blood" :(

tried playing 5 games "normally", didn't have a single obsession because apparently not a single person brought ds or any other obsession perks.
if you're forced to change your loadout in order for a challenge to even be possible, its not "normally."

and yet you can depip with a 4k. There is a lot more required for killer than just "pleasing the entity by killing the survivors." Same with survivors, you can depip while repairing gens and/or escaping. Its almost like the game has no idea what its actual objectives are, and just throws a bunch of them at a wall and hopes they stick (while still somehow having zero variety to them)

Enduring + Nemesis + PWYF + Corrupt (To slow the game down just a little bit)
Judiths journal + Tombstone piece
You'll be able to get 2 kills everytime easily. Take the stun, stalk the hell out of them and harvest the PWYF stacks. 1st Obsession dead before any hooks. They'll often try to loop you and PWYF catches them off guard.

I ran into a Wraith today who was AFK all match. He came alive when we popped the last gen and insta downed and mori'ed the obsession with Rancor. I messaged him afterward and asked why, and he said its how he is doing the kill the obsession 10 times challenge.

Wow, that is actually quite the streak of bad luck. It is rare that I see no-obsession games, and I never use obsession perks as killer or survivor. I hope your games get those spindly little legs wrapping around someone's icon sooner than later.

Yeah, but I was hoping to do it somewhat normally. Since that’s too much of a pain in the ass, I’m just going to run Nemesis on my Killers for now. If the devs really had to keep a badly designed challenge like this, they could’ve at least put it in a corner where it wouldn’t be blocking access to the rest of the challenges.
EDIT: Two games with Nemesis and I can say ######### this challenge. Survivors catch on too quick and just start pre-dropping pallets and I have a feeling this is going be a trend. I really didn’t want to, but I guess I’m going to have to bring Moris to help speed up the process (I’m not going AFK and using Rancor though, that Wraith player must have a lot of patience).

Personally, I wanted to get this one done quickly because I didn't want to rely on chance that a survivor is running an obsession perk, also, I work a lot and I'm in college so my time is very limited, it would've taken so much longer if I just played matches until I achieved this challenge "normally."

I agree with the OP that this challenge bred some additional unnecessary frustration for the average player than necessary (For killers having to play slightly more scummy and survivors who had to deal with HARD tunneling). I got it done in about 5~ matches using just Nemesis+Rancor and a bit of ingame manipulation to make sure people dying were obsessions even if it let a guy or two escape. Obviously this "was tunneling" regardless of if other people got downed too. I got called a slew of bad words for closing the hatch and letting the last guy struggle off my shoulder and pallet stun me just so I could down him again for an obsession rancor mori - was honestly surprised he didn't just DC during the Kill animation.

Reminds me of a previous rift. I think there was a challenge to kill someone with Rancor?
I was the obsession (always am with Rancor) and the killer finds me early and just follows me around all game waiting for the last gen to finish.
These challenges are dumb and bring out the worst tactics.
