This game is awful from head to toe
This game breeds toxicity and just unfun mechanics, no matter if you play survivor or killer the game always finds a way to make you upset. Players who use OoO or Unbreakable + DS or keys use it cause they want to have fun, people who use Pop or Hex ruin + Undying or moris use it cause they want to have fun.
The dbd community is a good reflection on the game itself, the devs claim they don't want the game to be competitive but they embrace competitive aspects.
I'm heavily losing interest in playing this game and I know that it matters to no one, but its just sad to leave a game I have loved so much for years because of the incompetency that is the developers.
Of course this is a vent but I really do feel sad know that being a long time fan of this game I have grown to hate it.

you are not alone man a lot of people are starting to either take breaks or stop playing permanently

Like it or not, it is the competitive players that ruined it. The ones that just want to win because they don't get a dopamine hit any other way. They see PvP and apply eSport mentality because there's nothing you can do to stop them, except half the community wants them all to feel nice and welcome even though they are the ones that play Spirit with Stridor and 3 slowdown perks or 4-person deathsquad because other games have trained them to think they actually accomplished something by winning.
Maybe now that the playerbase is big enough we can have an actual proper ranking system that keeps all of them hurting each other and not the rest of us.

The big issue right now is that they removed killer matchmaking entirely, which is leading to unfun matches in all directions - and nothing breeds toxicity like frustration.

Oh, I've played worse.
Ultima Online had one of the most legitimately unpleasant playerbases in the history of gaming.
Unreal Tournament 2004 was legendary for it's toxicity.
The original DOTA...well, it was impossible to even get a game as a new player.
And don't even get me started on the early days of League of Legends, let alone Smite.

I think 100% the problem is that the game is NOT competitive from the survivor side, its casual. But the killer side IS competitive.
Thats why survivors far outweigh killers, they both need to be casual, or competitive ig but i don't think that's the direction the game will go, bringing survivor skill level up to killer will alienate a huge chunk of the community

I think the game is fine, a segment of the community is awful though.

Personally I'm fed up with seeing the almost never-ending supply of bugs and glitches. Literally everything you do as a killer is bugged right now: hooking survivors, kicking generators, kicking pallets, vaulting windows, etc. How there hasn't been a hot fix yet is beyond me. But you can guaran-damn-tee that the devs are all over new cosmetics, so rest assured that they'll never be late issuing those!🙄
And to make matters worse, the devs continue to ignore the constant requests for a proper training mode. Since ranks aren't an accurate representation of skill, this game is very unfair to newer players. Hell even if you're new to a certain killer the game still expects you to compete against people of similar rank, which can make playing as a killer you've never played with before very aggravating.
Despite all the frustrations I kept going back to dead by daylight because it can be a lot of fun, but now seeing the game in the state that it is with it's frustrating matchmaking and killer bugs galore, I literally have no desire to play it. And that's something that I never thought I would hear myself say.😔

It gets easier when you realize that the killer is intended to get 2 kills at most per game. I forget where I read that, but it made sense. The amount of points I can earn by chasing, terrorizing and hassling survivors while killing one or two isn't far off what I earn off a full wipe.
The problem are the annoying quests that basically force you to team wipe or tunnel a particular survivor. They aren't fun as the killer and likely aren't fun for the survivor.
Another problem is that every survivor seems to expect to escape, so when they are one of the two (or do get away) they can become BM to the extent of nastiness.

The ranking system is even screwy, I can get two kills and de-pip. Heck I have gotten 4ks and only black pipped.

I must say I've never seen that. 2 kills either gives me a pip or safeties (if I had one of my frequent games where I barely even see a survivor).
Maybe this is a higher rank thing - in which case, yeah, that's genuinely bizarre.

It's not uncommon because I've seen it myself. Killers that go for a slug build tend to get very little points. Perfect example: Myers. Myers excels with infectious fright, and if no one has unbreakable equipped and he manages to get four slugs, then that means as Myers you only managed to hook everyone once which equals out to be a small amount of blood points and a safety pip if you're lucky.

Oh yeah, slugging. That's a different issue and one where tactics and how the game is meant to be played end up diverging completely.
Frankly, giving killers baseline Deerstalker could help a lot with this. There have been plenty of games where I slug 1-2 people, hang a third and then simply cannot find the slugs, leading me to getting cussed out postgame.

they need to fix the MM from the ground up it be the only way now playing killer being lock it not fair now.

I strongly am against the current ranking system, I personally only play for BP so I can create more builds on my survivors and killers but it still hurts seeing that you did "bad" according to your emblems in the post game. (people can be toxic in post chat too)

Frankly, I don't care about rank. I'm still learning and am way happier in lower ranks where it feels like some people are also still learning.
I'm utterly sick of games like this:
I was rank 14 by the way and the 20 was a smurf account queueing with the others to push the overall rank down to stomp newbies, assumedly on stream.

This game has been plummeting downhill since the silent hill chapter imo. But that's probably just me.

It's ok, interests can change throughout your life and that's fine.
Perhaps the game has changed into something you can no longer stand and support.
Your focus should be enjoying the games you play, especially if you spend your free time trying to enjoy playing this game but instead end up frustrated.
If you keep at it, you'll only drain yourself both mentally and even physically. So if taking a break or even dropping this game completely is what you think you need then go ahead and do it.
You can always come back in the future and try it out again, even if you've told yourself that you'll never touch it again. You don't need to prove yourself to anyone. It is your time so you do as you see fit.
