How does it feel?

I have maybe 100 hours in the game, the climb to 13 was brutal or maybe I'm just #########. Really enjoy the game tbh but the community? Fuuuuck.

I spent my years 12-17 playing mostly counter strike source. Sure, kind of a toxic community. Really reminds you of COD before racism started getting people the boot. Then, I played LoL for a few years, I was nothing special but we can all agree, a super toxic community. A few years later Destiny 2 and it's first raid comes out. That too really brought the toxicity out in the community. These 3 or 4 games probably have some of the most toxic communities there are. But wowthia community here hands down takes the cake as the biggest number of cry babies inhave seen. Such toxicity actually mocking people 'waaah waah' in the discussions and littered with get gud. Survivors think they cant climb rank or win because of perks to killer has when they havent actually tried to get gud at the game and same for the killers who just want easy wins.

KILLER: Literally a ######### killer they have no moral compass. Expecting them not to tunnel or pull every dirty trick they can to win is essentially what they're supposed to do. So what if survivors have a perk that buys them an extra 6 seconds. If you decide to chase them knowing they just ds'd your little ass you just gave up ground to be a troll and go after them when you get control back. At that point you reserve to have the other 2 gen rush tf out of you if you decide to focus on one survivor like a simp. Quit your bitching.

SURVIVORS: You're supposed to work together more often than not you do not. That is why you fail and lose, not because the killer is a tunneling #########. Its a team game and you're pulled into a realm controlled by a malevolent entity where he puts you against a killer to survive for its entertainment. You're not actually expected to win. If this was real life that would be the only reality. Quit your bitching.

How does it feel to be the most toxic community on the web? Ienjoy this game but ######### the rest of yall seem to not be able to do anything but ######### in your safe space bubble. Some of you are WoW guy on southpark, some of you are cartman, stan Kenny and kyle. I'm just tryna be randy and have fun.

This makes me feel sad- if you feel like this is the most toxic community you've encountered after only playing for 100 hours, I'd suggest putting the game down now because it's not going to get better for you. Especially when you're coming at the community with aggression. There's a lot of decent ppl here willing to be kind and helpful if you take the time to get to know them, but you won't with that attitude.

    Either way, wish you luck.

This community is Iconic. What do you mean?

You know every community has those toxic people. I've played the game for over 2.5k hours and i've seen a lot of bad from the community but not as much as another game i've played for just over 600 hours. The toxicity here does not compare to other games.

I came here after playing Overwatch and I have to say....it's exactly the same amount of toxic. I can't imagine forums for games like LoL or CS:GO being any better.

Sometimes in matches I like to climb the hill and spin around as fast as I can.

League of legends is the most toxic community ever, I know DbD is bad but nothing beats League of Legends. If you’re losing your whole team will start the blame game, someone will have 0/12 and still try to blame their team. Playing Support gets the most harassment from either not warding (even though everyone has a trinket to ward) or the ADC blaming their Support if they lose lane. The Jungler gets harassed when they don’t gank or a gank goes wrong. Top lane blames the Jungler for “no ganks” and Mid laners think they’re a god.

Atleast DbD you endure about 5 or 10 minutes of toxicity whereas League you have pre-lobby chat which can be toxic, atleast 20 minutes of gameplay before you can surrender the game, having chat on for the entirety of the game and end game chat.

  • I have no plans to quit. And in the other games I've mentioned, I dont want to say it's different, but there is a way the game is expected to be played, as the killer you're under no obligation to show any morality. As a survivor you're just supposed to survive by any means necessary. I like the brutality, the adrenaline rush I get running from a killer. But I do feel as if people miss the point of the game. It's to escape to live another day, you're under no obligation to help your teammate and some survivors bios say as much they will do anything to survive. But it seems like the only thing I ever see pop up in forums is someone throwing their 2 cents in about perks but tunneling is okay and blahblahblah. I dont mind being a randy cause I still have fun. But the constant bickering is just so terrible. In games like Lol and OW they are solid team games. You cannot win by yourself. In this game you can. It just is what it is, I cant tell you how many times I've been sand bagged while they search for hatch as one of the last 2 it's annoying but hey man I wouldn't do different if it was my only chance.

Plenty of good rational folks that have been around the game too - just fewer and farther between. Quite a few laidback humble streamers are still a good time to watch and keeps me coming back to the game every time a new patch drops.

The absurd grind among other things and general ######### player behavior is a major turnoff for new players for sure but it gets to a point where you just get over it. If anything with crossplay - not seeing most of the post game vitrol has actually demotivated me more as most players just play like bots nowadays creating large spans of boring games for every good one... some matches don't even feel like pvp. This applies to survivor AND killer gameplay depending on the night even at rank 1

You know if you wanted to start seeing the good side of DbD, maybe don't put everyone under the same cover and talk ######### to the people who haven't done anything wrong? This community is fine for the most part. What you see on forums is typical complaining that's in every community because there's always something to complain about. I do it too sometimes, because ######### spirit. Idk if I'd consider them toxic, they're just kinda fed up with the game being the same mess it has been for months, things not working properly for so long now... DbD has one of the better communities, there's just a few vocal minorities, the usual group that are actually toxic human beings and throw slurs and threats at everyone they meet, and the ones that are hyper sensitive and get mad that a survivor pressed the crouch button or hit them on a hook. And unfortunately they take up the most discussion online.

So you are acting like you aren't part of the community lmao. Plus your saying EVERY killer and survivor think alike. A very arrogant thing to say. Also 100 hours and only rank 13? That's a little odd to say the least

Not even joking when I say I started a smurf today and played for like 2 hours and I am already rank 15. So 100 hours and only rank 13 well...

There are plenty of toxic players non both sides, but there are also plenty of players who come to have fun, play a great match and have fun. Get a few friends together and go in as a team, see how that changes things for you, or if you can get enough to make it worth playing a custom match, you can get in some practice or just have a lot of fun messing around with your friends.

from around rank 17-15 on, that's were the hypercompetitive thinking starts. That's when people will unquestioningly parrot big name streamers without double checking if said streamer isn't just biased (I mean just look at how many people still claim Deathslinger has no counterplay cause they can't loop him at low-wall loops and stuff). It's when you will get more people focusing so much on their own score that they neglect actually doing stuff more or less effectively.

Since that ungodly tournament recently I have seen so many survivors (as survivor) that make me want to work with the killer: Each time someone gets injured the two others on the team jump up from the gens, sneak over and try to unhook the person just after hooking, consequentially getting knocked down and the game's over before even three gens got done despite three people having been on gens.

I love DBD, but I have to agree. The community is absolutely awful. I usually turn off messaging because I get spammed with toxic messages or party invites. I've never had to do this while playing any other game. It's insane how toxic this community is.

  • Mekochi
    Mekochi Member Posts: 942

Bruh if you think this is one of the most toxic communities, try R6S, Ark, Overwatch, ect. There are plenty of communities more toxic than DBD. Trust me.

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

Shrug. DbD is about a 7/10 on the toxometer. There are a lot of hooting buttholes playing the game (generally as survivors) but it will never compare to the horrible glory days of UT2004, DOTA, early League of Legends, Smite, Dark Souls, Everquest or Ultima Online.

Ark, yes. Overwatch? Eh. I'd say that DbD is worse as a whole - mostly because Blizzard actually do stuff to police their games and attempt to account for premades and the like with matchmaking.

  • Mekochi
    Mekochi Member Posts: 942

Well there are cases where these things slip through the cracks. Though I do admit, DBD can be extremely toxic, had someone tell me that they hope I die. Reported and nothing happened.

    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

Oh yes. But at least you can turn off postgame chat (I did and it makes things so much nicer).

Just go in and pretend you are fighting bots.

    Mekochi Member Posts: 942

I am on Xbox, can't set my messages to friends only either. He did it cuz him and his friend played emersed, so the killer let me go and kill them.

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

Yeah, I don't know about XBox, but if I was playing on console I'd turn messages off entirely if I was playing DbD.

  • You obviously didn't read my nametag. I dont watch streamers, Im just a randy. And that 100 hour is easily only 40 or so after you think about how long is spent picking trials and figuring out a good perk balance and lvling baby characters. Mr 'omg I smurfed and I'm already decent at the game so I climbed rank fast' You're the type of people I'm talking about.

  • I would say I'm bringing forth a conversation. You too are the type of player I'm talking about. I dont have a single complaint about the game, mechanics or perks, although ph is annoying. My problem is with what seems to be the majority of players that might as well put the game down and watch a streamer since they cant seem to enjoy the game. Good or not I enjoy it and this is how I learn about good perk builds as I dont care to waste my time watching streamers for a slight chance that they might answer a single question, whether I tip or not.

  • Not to mention how much time I've spent on oni as well. Rank reset is my biggest reason for not ranking up tbh. I play for maybe 45 minutes a day as I work 14 hours a day. So that's my answer for everyone talking about '100 hours and only 13'about a week ago it reset and I'm back to 17 and havent had the time to touch it again since then since I'm gearing up for doom eternal dlc

  • Again for everyone in the back, I am not an avid player, i dont spend hours on this game a day if i even decide to play. Shoot, I got CoD, i play fall guys with my eldest son that's soon to be 4. Still trudging through AC odyssey, 200 player kills-a kill with all 8 weapons on enemy players is all I need to plat doom eternal. This game is not the only game I play or dedicate myself to. I am spread thiiiiiin like black hole spaghettification thin

Obviously you have never been to an Eagles game!

    Go Birds!!

  • I never said I was better, only that I enjoy every aspect of the game. I have nothing negative to say about the game, just the community. Every one else bitches about the game/perks/tunneling blahblahblah

And they come back just like you. Bitching and prodding looking for a retort. I did offer some advice. Enjoy the ######### game and quit your bitching. But you seem to have over looked that piece on paraphrasing.

    You are the toxicity
