Whats the deal with insta-unhook?

I've been playing for about 3 months and there is one thing i dont understand very well.

No matter the rank, from reds to 20, lots of people are used to unhook survivors instantly. The killer is still there and they dont even have "Borrowed time" neither "We are gonna live forever!"

So... do i miss something?

    When I've seen it I assume it was survivoirs who dont want to play the match for whatever reason so want to farm each other back and forth and then die quickly?

    There's a survivor ritual requiring you to unhook people and unlike the rift challenges, they don't have to be safe unhooks, so they will take risks. Others I swear do it for the hell of it.
