Extincion of Hope - Improbable Challenge

This challenge I am finding is impossible to finish for one simple reason; My totems keep spawning out in the open, for everyone to see. Even running Undying - it doesn't help finishing this challenge. My Devour Hope keeps reseting or they just cleanse Undying and then DH - because the totem locations in this game are completely atrocious.

Though not to make this thread only to complain about how Hex perks are completely underpowered and unreliable. A better question would be; How did you actually finish this challenge?

    With Tombstone Myers.

Bring Rancor as backup. Maybe NoED too so you can get your second insta-down if needed.

That's how I did it yesterday, anyway. I was lucky enough to see a Midwich offering, but my totem got cleansed at 5 stacks. Didn't matter though, since I had Rancor. So I just followed the obsession around until the survivors finally finished the gens, and then mori'd them.

I always do that with rancor lol, just act friendly with the obsession when there is only one gen left (most of them don't pay attention to rancor's aura) and then i just kill them. I love the salty messages in the endgame chat

Bring a mori. Noed. Make your choice. You dont have to use devour hope. Just have it equipped

I used Michael with an Ivory Mori and played on Hawkins. You don't have to expose the survivors with Devour Hope, just pop tier 3 and you still get the challenge, then after 5 hooks mori one of the survivors.

And since totems are so hard to find on Hawkins, I managed to not have my totem cleansed and 4k by mori'ing all survivors.

Got it first try. You don't need Devour active to do those actions, you just need to have Devour equipped. I used Ghostface with a mori.

Kill 1st survivor hooked, that takes care of the kill and slows the game down (to the Jake I apologize).

I actually managed to get the devour stacks but I was stalking them anyway so that took care of the exposed, then just go easy on them to make sure you get the 5 hooks.

I got it with Myers myself with an offering for Hawkins Lab....two tier 3 downs and normally hooking peeps and hopefully you get a good totem spot....RNG friend, just keep trying if that doesn't work try bringing a mori you don't need Devour to work itself

Myers/Ghostface, Equip a Ebony, Equip Devour Hope and let it waste 14 seconds of time for one Survivor.

It's another of those challenges that seem to depends on rank AND on which killer you play.

    especially with the latter:

if you play with a killer not known for hexs, I've seen a lot of survivors just outright ignore them, unless they are out in the open.

Infinite tier 3 Myers with an Ebony Mori. Survivors are always Exposed and the Ebony is there in case you don't get to five stacks. You only need to have Devour Hope equipped. It's ok if you don't get to use it.

Legion is actually the easiest killer to do this i feel.

You don't need to actually down them while exposed, just hit them with fatal frenzy to complete that part of the challenge easilly no matter how well the survivors can loop

Then it's just getting 5 hooks and a kill with a mori/rancor and your set

I got the 5 Hooks from regular gameplay, i got the 2 Exposed hits with Make Your Choice, i got the kill with Ivory Memento Mori, and of course i brought the required Perk.

    On Wraith, btw.

I did it in one trial, hooked 5 people, downed two and mori'd one by using myers and a mori. you do not have to do it BY devour's powers, you just have to have the perk on and even if they get devour you can still get the challenge done. it's not too hard. anyone that can cause exposed status works fine, the issue is the death at your hand aspect. 5 hooks isn't all that bad.

I don't like using moris and stuff so I think I will leave this challange alone. I'm more angry with the "use up the ante, open handed.." challange I mean pointless builds is not fun for anyone to use.

It’s not that difficult. Just run a lot of Hex perks with Undying and pick a map offering with good spawns like Lerys, Midwhich, Hawkins or the Game.

Personally, I got it on the first try

I actually got it first try with huntress. Brought an ebony but didn't mori until my 5 stacks of devour happened. I think i actually got all 4 with devour.

I still wish that the game would send a screenshot to the player who got morid with ghostface. Instead of the end screen everyone running it would be the picture of them getting killed.

YES! I´d love to share those with the Survivors that got Moried. Especially the ones that got photobombed, to me one of the funniest things DBD has to offer :D

This challenge is worded to make it seem significantly harder than it actually is. You just need to accomplish all of those caveats while Devour Hope is in your build; you can finish this challenge even if Devour Hope is cleansed in the first 30 seconds of a match.

Best method is to use a killer that inflicts the Exposed status effect on survivors. I personally think Myers is the way to go, but you could use Ghost Face too. You could also use perks for this on other killers, but I didn't want to rely on things like NOED, Make Your Choice, Rancor, or Iron Maiden.

And then bring a mori (ideally just a green ivory mori, but you could use a red ebony mori if you want). Try not to get mori-happy though, or you'll have issues getting enough hooks.

Then just make sure you down at least two survivors who've been Exposed from your power or your perks, make sure you hook survivors at least 5 different times (so don't camp to encourage hook-saves), and try to hold off on using your mori until you finish the other requirements.

While unlucky map RNG or a really good survivor team may still crush your hopes and dreams for a trial, using a strategy more like this significantly cuts down on the Devour Hope RNG and makes this challenge feel much easier and less frustrating.

I used Tombstone Piece because my DH always breaks. And the one time I build around it breaking... I actually got to do the quest as intended before it broke. Even named myself "DevourHopeWillBreak" or something like that and the game made it work for once just to prove me wrong.

I kind of got lucky and got The Game as Wraith, where totems actually have good spawns.

The thing is, like everyone else is saying, you don't need Devour Hope active to finish the challenge. You can bring a Mori, Rancor, or Tombstone Myers for the kill, and you can bring any of the perks or use powers that make Survivors Exposed to complete it. As long as you have Devour Hope equipped, whether or not it's cleansed, you can still get the challenge.

I managed it on first try with trapper. Devour hope, haunted ground. Green Mori. Black tar bottle and iri stone.

Got it first try with spirit and put on dead dawg saloon so there would be good totem spots. I find these kind of challenges to be easier with her since you tend to get hook after hook fairly quickly. They never found devour and it ended in a complete slaughter

I did it with Devour alone, no Mori, no tombstone Myers. Use Clown, no one suspects it and they usually think it’s an ez 4 out. Got my 5th stack, killed one and let the 2 remaining escape (one was left on hook).

    List of exposed perks:

    Make your choice

    Noed

    Devour Hope

    Rancor

    Dragon's grip

    List of Kill perks:

    Rancor

    Devour hope

This challenge is troublesome because lets be real dh isn't going to go off. You might get a few exposed hits but actual kills I recommend taking a mori in. Make sure to get 5 hooks of course dont ebony mori everyone and avoid moriing immediately. Survivor players may just end up giving up if you early mori.

Maps I recomend for totem spawns for this challenge

    Midwich

    Lery's

    Game

    yamoka estate

    My recomended build

Perks: Devour hope, Noed, Rancor, Corrupt intervention

Killer recommendations: what's comfortable, spirit, Deathslinger, Myers, Wraith, Demogorgon (note Make your choice is very good on demo for this challenge)

Offerings: Mori or A map offering that obscures your totem better.

This is a lengthy post but the goal is to cover all options and approached to tackling this challenge. Happy hunting!

The Dwight glasses being broken isn't because of the mori

Dwight was wearing that cosmetic which has already broken glasses in it.

I've gotten this one without trying before, but of course as soon as it's a challenge I couldn't get it lol. Finally gave in and ran Myers with Ivory mori.

i just played Myers with a mori as back up, you dont need to have devour hope proc to get the challenge done

I just played mint rag hag with make your choice. Took 2 games to get it. Then I played her later for a daily and did it again without mint rag.

This challenge was so difficult I had to go back to using Hag to even have a chance of protecting my totems. I carried Thrill of the Hunt and Devour Hope. Thank God for Thrill because I was able to finish the mission
