Why the sudden rise of Prove Thyself?
Title says it all. Prove Thyself used to be a perk I only saw on occasion, once every few games. Make no mistake, it's a decent perk, but... why do I suddenly see it in every game now? What happened?! Did the Ruin-Undying meta somehow cause this? What happened?!

Nothing happened. It's a perk and it's being used, as every perk should be.

Oh, I have no problem with it being used. I just see it so often now when it used to be something I saw on occasion.

I dont see an increase in Prove Thyself-players in my games. It was a Perk which I saw quite frequently anyway.

Every game is ruin/undying, gotta power through those gens

When you put it like that, maybe I just never noticed until now...

I've found it has a 14.36%~16% usage rate at Red Ranks over now 450 games (1800 survivors, over 7150 tracked perks) meaning I was usually seeing at least one Prove Thyself every other game. At the level where both sides are "trying" to win as often as possible - it's pretty natural to see a powerful meta perk and the only one that actively speeds up the main objective directly, it leads to less interaction with the killer in exchange for doing your job of power gens and escaping better.

Dwight is apart of the archives
And survivors want gens done asap
I do see it used but not every match (maybe 1 in 5)

I think its partially due to the final level's survivor challange to reach the end is:
Engineer's guild:
Complete 6 generators with another survivor.
So if people who play infrequantly want to get it done before the rift is over "Prove Thyself" is a great perk to do it with.

It's good because it makes you max on objective faster

I like it for BP too. You really do notice it!

Y'know, it could very well be because of the Hex: Ruin & Hex: Undying metagame, now that you mention it. Personally speaking, I was running Prove Thyself with Detective's Hunch for a bit. My reasoning was that you'll usually be able to pop that first motor & then Hunch will pop off so you can find a(nother) set of bones.
Also, just because gen rushing will almost always be a thing, it would make sense as a way to combat ever-living Ruin.

Good BP perk especially for new players. I imagine it may be to do with players not wanting to hunt totems. It only saves 7 or so seconds but if you can find a player to team multiple gens on its incredibly strong.
