What is the EXACT point of "rank reset"? and which other games do this DIRTY/UNFAIR practice?
I believe it just forces to keep playing to preserve your rank to play against similar players. If not, what reason is?
Feels so bad taking a break of several months making my chars a crappy lv20, needing again grinding for weeks or months to recover the previous levels...
- which games do this dirty/unfair practice? is this a "unique" feature of DBD then? who got this brilliant idea?
- will we ever get rid of this in future?
I think 100% of player base dislikes this practice!

because literally everyone would just reach rank 1 eventually and then newer players would pretty much never be able to find matches, and if they did they'd be forced into lobbies with players much higher rank then them and just get dunked on every single game

First of all "Dirty unfair practice" - sorry but that's pretty strong and it's none of those things.
I've never minded rank reset - I've always seen it as a challenge to get back my previous rank, or to better my previous rank.
If you've taken a break for a few months, it will only take a short time before you're back in the ranks you previously were as your skills are the same and it's far easier for more skilled players to double pip in the lower ranks so they climb back up to the higher ranks much quicker.
So no, definitely not 100% of the player base dislikes Rank Reset, a lot of players enjoy the challenge that it presents and helps them to maintain motivation to keep playing.

That's that only way you rank down for the most part is taking a long break like that. I can use the killer I'm worst with and all 4 survivors escape every game and I still don't lose rank. If your active your fine and it's very easy to rank up in this game.

ranks and MM is messed up right now why people say rank don't matter and really they don't you could be rank 10 survivor or killer and have on your team or face rank 1
don't matter anymore.

I think most games with a competitive mode do this. Some even have rank decay where you have to play a certain amount/win a certain amount to maintain your rank. It's not dirty or unfair.

Assuming rank reflects skill, imagine player A reaches rank 1 in one week and player B needs 2 months to get to the same rank. After 2 months you would have at rank one both A, who is very good, and B, who is less good. This means at the same rank there are two people of very different skill level. Plus player C who just reached rank for the first time 8 can't find a match because everyone is at rank 1.
If you add rank reset, you get player A is constantly at rank 1 with others who reach it quickly, while player B keeps hovering between rank 10 and 5 together with people of the same skill level.
Obviously this is an over-semplification, but I hope it explains it well enough.

Not only is rank reset good, but they even messed up by making it reset you less in its last rework. It needs to be brought back to its original reset.

The point is if anyone plays long enough they can get to rank 1. With a rank reset the people that don't belong in reds have a harder time getting there in a month than the people who easily pip. It used to send you backwards 2 colors instead of 1. So you'd go from Rank 1 back to Rank 9. I get why they made that change, and it's a good change, but I also miss going back that far and having to come back up.

They did that because there weren't enough people in red. Que times were stupid long and people were constantly playing against the same people over and over leading to a lot of people purposefully depipping. If they ever get skill based match making working hopefully they'll revisit that because I think you're right from a rank perspective it's better, just not a matchmaking perspective (which imo is more important).

True, why are people still complaining about a rank reset? Back when the game was first out and for a long time after you went back to 20 no matter what rank you were. there was no holding on to rank you lost it all every month.

Other games that do this-
- Every game with a competitive mode
The purpose of a rank reset is to keep players engaged. Think about it. You'd hit rank one, then you'd have no reason to play. Not like you'll lose your rank. You'd have the bragging rights, now what?
It honestly surprises me that people are opposed to rank reset in this game when hitting a high rank gives no reward.
"Play against similar players"?
Wasn't matchmaking changed to revolve around player skill?
"Feels so bad taking a break of several months making my chars a crappy lv20, needing again grinding for weeks or months to recover the previous levels"
Months is an incorrect statement, rank resets the 13th of every month.
Rank 20, not level 20
Rank reset impacts RANK, not levels. The name would imply this.
Now, let's get to the actual flaws of your argument.
You're grossly exaggerating, first of all. If you have a decent rank you don't get deranked to rank 20.
Second, it's not a grind. Sure, you have to play Spirit sometimes, maybe camp or tunnel, but it's not that much of a grind to hit a decent rank.
But if you're taking a break for "several months" then that's your fault, not rank reset.
"will we ever get rid of this in future?"
Certainly not because of a minority that evidently doesn't play the game consistently.
TL;DR: Don't expect to be "rewarded" for barely playing the game.

So if im rank 1 freddy with the best of the best stuff and i take a 3 month break and get reset to rank 20 should i just stomp my way back to rank 1? I mean thats probably not fun for the new players. As well as the people who use the rank reset to get back to low rank to bully new players.

So you're expecting to be rewarded for not touching the game for 3 months?
And by the way, that strategy doesn't always work.
- One reset won't drag them down to grey ranks
- If they wait multiple months to derank, they're in the exact same position as you.

I never experienced any of those issues before.
Also we now have the oppposite of that happening where everyone's piled up and stacked at high ranks disproportionately. That's what increased queue times and gave you matches with/against people that weren't "really" your same rank. This is why our matches are so all over the place now in balance. There's inconsistency with the people at a given rank.

You may not have, but a lot of people did and it became a serious issue that the devs felt like they needed to address:
And I agree with all your points about rank, in a perfect world that's how it would work, I just don't think it's worth it to sacrifice que times. HOPEFULLY they figure out skill based matching making, if they do that I'd be cool with it dropping 3 colors every month. REALLY separate the boys from the men.

I Mean ive been in red for 2 years now i think ive earned my place. And personally i didnt know all of the specifics i just thought youd eventually get sent back to 20. I doubt if i took a 3 month break id forget how to play the game that much.

If you've been in red for 2 years, why is it a problem to get it again?
0 -
Its not id just feel bad stomping new players to get up there. I have no problems with doing it but those are other people playing.

Just play the game and you'll hit rank 1 again in an few hours lol

They'll learn like the rest of us.

rankreset is death since the devs made you go back one colour they could just remove it at this point its useless
0 -
Yup ever since that change the complaints About matchmking increased a lot.

Just as a reminder, the new MMR system that the devs have said is going to be coming back eventually has no monthly reset.
