Next-Gen Update: Can we get the specifics?
Is the NG version launching on Nov 10 and 12 to coincide with Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5? What are the exact changes? Resolution? Frame Rate? HDR? Optimizations? Enhancements? Other upgraded titles have outlined plans and some have released trailers showcasing the forthcoming changes. Can we please get some news soon? The promised Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro enhancements never happened, hope this isn't a repeat!

Yeah, I’d like to know the specifics beyond an expectation that the game loads faster, and the frames improve.
Will they implement ray tracing?
Other improvements to graphics other than the map facelifts?

I’m guessing nothing except it running on the new consoles

I can't wait for next gen so I can get more console players. Only roughly 25% of the players I meet are console.

As much as I'm looking forward to some other launch titles on PlayStation 5, I feel like the next gen upgrade could breathe new life into this game for me. I'm really looking forward to it and and dying to find out what to expect. I hope they do a trailer showing the improvements.

They did announce that owners of PS4 copies get a free upgrade to a PS5 version. Considering the PS4 version will already work on PS5, there would have to be some distinguishing differences. Otherwise why bother building a next gen version of the game at all.

I think our progress is supposed to transfer to the next gen console (PS4 to PS5 and XB1 to XSX/S).

Yeah some actual concrete details on next gen would be much appreciated pleaaaase @not_Queen :)

In the trailer I believe they said the release date would be in December.

I'd also like to know how it works. If I own the physical copy of DBD do I not get the free copy for PS5?

Yes, our progress is tied to our platform account so you could seamlessly switch between both gens of the same console family.
Which trailer?
On PS5 with other games, you insert your PS4 disc in your PS5 disc drive and it will either install the BC version of the game or it will install the upgraded PS5 version of the game. This depends on whether the publisher has granted a free upgraded copy. Either way you need the PS4 disc to play it so make sure you have the PS5 disc console.

What I know
PS4 to PS5 if you currently own the game. With the same PSN account you get to keep your progress, DLC, Auric Cells, etc. Same with Xbox.
60 FPS 4K
3D Audio and Haptic Feedback we don't know anything about yet.
It'll most likely release close to the launch of the consoles, but probably not day one.
PS4 and Xbox One will still get supported, for how long we don't know yet, but probably another year or two.
Crossplay with PS4 and Xbox One from PS5 and Series X/S will be possible.

Tweet sorry. And I'm just assuming holiday means the month of December.

The crossplay between next gen and current gen consoles worries because of the devs’ track record when it comes to consoles. We never got the PS4 Pro and XB1X enhancements. What if the game is so poorly optimized that even the PS5 and XSX, the two strongest consoles, struggle to run it? I don’t want to (and shouldn’t) have to opt out of crossplay again for the PS5 just to have a somewhat fair match.

This is why i'm biting the bullet and just starting all over on Stadia. It sucks throwing three years down the drain but when it became available on stadia last week and I tried it out, I can't go back to ps4. 60fps is so damn nice. And it just looks better. I don't have high hopes that they will optimize it for the next gen very well either as the ps4 and xb1 are perfectly capable of running this game smoothly but don't.

The official statement is: Behaviour will release Dead by Daylight on next-generation consoles in the Holiday 2020 launch window. The game will run at 4K and 60 fps and will benefit from the graphical update and its regular content drops, ultimately leading to an entirely remastered edition of the game.
"Holiday 2020 launch window" I guess anytime between launch and end of year? Hopefully it is a launch title. Otherwise the backwards comp version should work.
So another question is will the PS5 version support the new Trophy Tracker feature of PS5?

Most likely, considering how Steam has it, and I'm pretty sure Xbox has it as well, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Some new info about next-gen:
- 4K/60 fps is confirmed for "launch window" of PS5 and XSX.
- XSS is HD "best possible framerate" but they are looking into 1440p support.
- No enhancements regarding RT, Haptics, 3D Audio yet.
Launch window is vague, doesn't sound like day one at this point but still possible. Other studios use launch window to mean different things, some mean the two or three weeks following and others as much as three months after. I wish they were more clear on this point.

ill just be happy with better frames, might actually be able to play crossplay with certain killers on certain maps at last lol.

the game is being graphically overhauled every major update, you're able to enjoy those increased graphics at an actually enjoyable framerate is my belief

My suspicions are that they never bothered with current gen optimisation because they’ve been throwing all those resources into next gen.

A week away from next-gen and still nothing official. Every current gen game getting an upgrade has outlined the details, date and most have next-gen trailers showcasing the upgrades but not DBD. @Peanits @not_Queen anything yet?

I think that’s because next gen DBD isn’t till 2021.
For now current gen will be BC on next gen consoles.
