Killers should have a 5th perk slot
It would make killer side less painful in red ranks, and more interesing build will come into play.
Adding 5th is one buff that wouldn't make solo even more painful, but we should just nerf survivors right?

The Builds would not be more interesting. And the game was created and balanced around 4 Perks. Adding a fifths Perk Slot would just add another construction site for the Devs.

The game is balanced around 4 perks, adding another perk slot would really cause some major balancing issues. I don't think it's something that we'd be likely to see happening.

The game is an asymmetrical pvp, Killers need additional power/options. You give them this, you can better balance killer perks.(each individual perk won't have to be so packed/intense.) Rework several of the weak/niche survivor perks and generic perks into "split-perks" that can be combined in one slot and survivors will be able to soft-counter a wider variety of killers, negating the need for hard escape perks like Dead Hard or Decisive Strike to exist in their current iterations.

I would take a 5th perk for using no addons anytime.
But it could also break the balance against solos if killers stack another slowdown perk. Or just NOED.

You would just retune the perks.
Killers want and need options, there's zero stopping the devs from reducing certain perks for that reason. Half the reason why perks need to be as power-packed as they are is due to having only 4 slots.

What- No. That's not what I meant. Buff both roles, or nerf both roles whenever it's needed. But having 4 perks on both roles currently is very good and balanced, and it should stay that way.

The game was balanced around 4 perk slots, adding a 5th one to killer would break the game and make solo queue even more worse than it already is. Can you imagine a Freddy using 5 slow down perks? This is just a bad idea.

I think one day, when we end up having Solos in one Que and Teams in another, a 5th unlocked Perk Killers as a way to balance the SWF 5th Perk (Comms) will be likely. Personally I think such teams will be required one extra Generator to power the gates AND the Killer gets one more Perk unlocked. But only time will tell.

If you think about comms for SWF as a 5th perk this idea sounds good, on paper. In practicality it would make solo a more unbearable option and throw off balance if killers used it to stack yet another slowdown or build a slow down+endgame load out. I'd rather see them maybe put Kindred or Bond as base kit for survivors to get solo closer to SWF levels and then rework/give QoL changes to killers so there isn't a massive gap between strength levels and all could be viable.

Attempting to somehow increase Solo to match SWF will never work unless chat is put INSIDE the game itself to make Solo exactly like SWF. The problem with your idea of trying to buff Solo to match SWF is that will require equal buffs to Killers and the SWF will also get those same Buffs and will remain further and further ahead. The only way to match Solo to SWF logistically is to give them (Comms). Any other work around will always just buff the SWF at the same time it increases the potency of Solo.
This is one of the reasons I suggest two Ques: Solo and SWF, so that the Teams can have the additional Generator required and a 5th Perk unlocked for Killers just against the Teams.

There was a suggestion a while back about making the 5th perk slot for Hex perks only while the others are just whatever, but with Undying this would be completely broken. Giving killers a 5th perk slot without any restrictions would be even more broken.

I think making it " teachables only" could work in some cases, Its similiar to the new HB and Nurse addons, but better. Although I'd support that addition on both teams, although there would be meta survivors and some killers just have bad teachables in comparison. (Poor wraith)
The Hex only restriction would be better if they were stronger or you could only have that one hex. Currently, it'd be better to restrict the 5th slot to thrill or undying as theyre support hexes.
