Is camping just a reaction to immersion?

I'm legit beginning to question this are killers just camping one or two players because they cant find the other survivors? I've had a hand full of games where I blame my immersed team mates more that the killer just running around the map then coming back to the hook cause he couldn't find anyone. And these team mates are doing nothing, they are just in large grass or lockers, they aren't doing gens or totems or any kind of action that would break immersion. I sandbagged one into a corner until the killer just downed me and the survivor ran into another corner and I continued to see that survivor just crouched in a corner.

What is even happening to this game?

If you can't find Survivors with all the aura perks, add on's and base powers Killers have.. That's on you.

Camping has always been a thing, don't try to make excuses for people.

People have way to wide of a scope of camping. As much as I hate getting a killer that is paying extra mind to be getting unhooked. I mostly get why. Its only the straight up stare at the hook stuff that bothers me.

The only time I really camp is end game if someone is hooked. Even THEN I still kinda give them openings. It feels really really stupid when you camp in that situation and still fail to get a kill.

if a survivor wants to never be found it's pretty easy to do that, you will never be found if you just crouch around the pale rose as P3 Claudette

Though in general I despise camping, I can say that I have from time to time because of the Whispers perk and people running for a save RIGHT AWAY, which forces me to search for the other survivor in the area and not patrol.

I think some people are jerks with camping, but I do think it’s a legitimate and sometimes accidental tactic brought on in response to what other survivors are doing once an ally is hooked.

Ive sent messages to survivors telling them I’m sorry for essentially camping and tunneling but explaining that I already knew another survivor wa sin the area, and that it’s sinpmy stupid to leave a survivors on a hook when whispers is telling me someone is behind a brick wall or a tree a couple meters away.

I definitely wander arkund round the area, I don’t just sit in front of the hook.

But it I also think certain killers are built with camping as a purposeful tactic. The wraith and Michael Myers in example. You can avoid tunneling when camping though, and choose to go after the new survivor.

I think being an obsession is a valid circumstance to tunnel, because they are....your specific obsession for the game.

Thats my general take take on it.

I'd more liken it to pressure. For some, definitely not all, they camp because they need to draw out survivors, slow the pace of the game, secure the last kill, or some such.

Of course some just camp to camp.

    Some do it for revenge.

I run bbq always, After hooking someone if i dont see anyone on bbq, i go check gens, if no one was on a gen i go back to the survivor and repeat. If this is the behavior you are referring to then yes.

they do it because they're trash and whoever defends them are trash too.

The Dev are enablers letting camping get this far. they get rewarded for no work

There are so many definitions of what is “camping” by Survivors it’s hard to narrow it down. Hell, I plop someone on the hook... and in 0.5 seconds he’s flailing his arms with the “HE’S CAMPING OMG!” signal before I can even turn around after the damn hooking animation.

I only ever truly camp in a few scenarios :

    1. I saw a Survivor near the area when I went to hook someone. Even then, I give it 15 seconds of looking for them, the go somewhere else. I know they are there, but I can’t be assed to waste anymore time looking for them.

2 : The Gens are done.

    3. I hooked someone and legit didn’t see a single aura with BBQ. Even then, you get the same as #1, 15 seconds patrolling around and then i’ll bugger off.

Nope. We are freaking out when we do it. 99% of the time it’s stress induced.

These are the best examples of why people camp. But I'll list them myself anyways, more or less in order of priority:
1, You pissed me off. I mean, if you first of all managed to piss me off, fair enough. But I want you out of my game for whatever reason, and damn it, you're going.
2, The gens are done. I mean, why shouldn't I?
3, part of a strategy. I don't usually build for camping, but sometimes if they are playing alturistically (or just really well), I'll camp. If they play alturistically, at worst, I lose the hooked person and don't get anyone (fairly rare), more often than not, two of them just trade places on the hook, and sometimes I manage to get more in addition to the first.
4, If I have a ritual for 2 sacrifices on a killer I don't like to play, or I don't have at a very high level.

There are many reasons why people camp. The biggest two being they can and it works.
