Why were the Pestula plants made by the entity?

Keep in mind, this is assuming The Entity has total control over its realm and what life resides within it.

So why are the Pestula plants a thing?

Were they made specifically to be used by the Blight?

Are they to complete the look of the place?

Are they meant to be used as any kind of resource that has yet to be tapped into?

Do they actually provide any environmental benefits?

Are they meant to be a twisted version of plant to strike fear into survivors?

I sure don't know, but I have a theory:

It's explained in the lore for the Hallowed Blight. The pustulas and the cankers are the Entity's way of purging its system. So the serum Talbot sticks himself with is basically just refined Entity feces.
