One-shot base kit
Someone give me a legitimate reason why a killer should have a one-shot in their base kit?
Don't get me wrong I am all for earning a one shot through addons or perks or whatever.
If you are going to argue that survivors have this and that which makes them to strong or gens go to fast I agree things on survivors side should also be nerfed or removed.
Other killers still have to deal with those.
But the the question remains a legitimate reason a killer should have a one shot in their base kit?

Because if it's balanced: Why not?

Let's see Billy can easily miss, bubba can be easily spun, it's not op its strong but not the strongest out there like nurse or spirit
4 -
Fair point but if he doesn't miss you go down, unlike nurse or spirit if they dont miss you continue on.
0 -
whats happens if they dont miss? compared to sprit or nurse who dont miss.
0 -
how do you know if its balanced?
0 -
Because they either earn it like Ghost Face, Michael, and Oni.
Or.
There's a downside for missing it such as billy's long stun if he bumps into an object or a 3 second root if he doesn't bump and same goes for Leather face.
5 -
Everyone misses, if you think every killer should have a built in penalty if they are good enough to miss very rarely I'm sorry but that's the minority. Do you know how many videos there are of people spinning bubba and billy? Its hilarious
7 -
Also the chainsaw bros have nothing else in their kit unlike most other killers.
Just to name a sample:
Freddy has:
- gen slowdown / gen defense via teleport
- chase power via blood pools or fake pallets
- tracking via blood pools put around the map
- another slowdown via clocks that people run to in order to wake themselves up
- built in Borrowed Time counter via oblivious status effect
- "semi stealth" via oblivious status effect (people often misjudge where or how close you are due to the lullaby)
- built in slowdown via addons
Did I forget something?

The difference is if all killers miss then the penalty is the same. compared to all killers hitting there for is an advantage for 2 of them..... why?
there is many vids on youtube of all killers getting spun

Easily spun? I've NEVER had that with a Bubba, and this is on console where being able to 360 is the norm.
Hard mechanics? Hold one button, use power. Not that hard.
I like the ones that Myers, GF and Oni have because as you said, they are earned. But the rednecks? Nope.

Because we know
1 -
who is we? and please link the website that has the statistics on balance if you can
0 -
You did actually the ability to one shot, I agree all of those tings make freddy strong but he still needs to hit you twice on his base kit
0 -
Well, you could always show us you streaming these killers and streaming non-one-shot killers to the best of your ability. Let's see if you can get significantly more kills per game or not.
2 -
why would I do that? where did I say that you can get more kills with certain killers over other killers?
did you not read the opening statement?
0 -
Uh what? Not everything does have a website with the statistics.
We, the community know it because we played for a really long time, both sides.
Do you have a link to a website that it is unbalanced?
And why should it be unbalanced if they can miss easily and get a big penalty for it?
4 -
You described literally every killer in the game. Hold button, use power.
That's exactly what Myers does, too.
Besides one could say Myers has the most unfair instadown in the game because he can just stalk a bad teammate until stalk is 99'd (which really doesn't require any actual "work" especially with addons) and punish a GOOD player with the easiest-to-use instadown in the game as it's literally just a M1 hit with increased lunge range that requires 0% mechanical skill unlike Hillbilly and Leatherface.
5 -
you are right I don't have a link to website that its unbalanced
because I didn't claim it was either balanced or non balanced, you did by using your opinion and apparently being the appointed speaker for everyone else in the community's opinion.
I asked a simply question
0 -
You're contradicting yourself. If you don't get more kills with one-shot killers, then you mean to say it's balanced. If it's balanced, who cares? Your opening statement doesn't address what I said in any fashion.
3 -
i am not speaking for everyone.
Sure there are players who think its not balanced and i dont want to offend anyone here but thats also mostly the people who are newer to the game or, sorry for saying that, entitled survivor mains who thinks everything on the killer side is OP. (for real, i even had people say killers should be slower than survivors)
On the side, most of the people that played for a long time says that they are balanced from their experience since they can easiely miss and get big penaltys for it.
Of course, if the killer is really good he will rarely miss, but thats skill, why should it be punished?
Thats only the minitory of the players who can almost always hit.
1 -
Thats right my opening statement has nothing to do with what you said and it also never addressed balance people who posted in here did
but non of those answer the actual question
0 -
Well, a bad bubba can be spun. But he's definitely balanced.
0 -
Why not?
No, seriously. Why not? The best survivors don't heal, so they're pretty much 1-shot for most of the trial. On top of that, only 2 of the best killers have access to a basekit instadown ability (Oni, Hillbilly) as opposed to all the others, most of which are even better (Nurse, Spirit, Blight, Hag, Huntress, Deathslinger, Freddy, Pyramid Head).

WHERE IS THE MECHANICS WITH LEATHERFACE?
And yes, it sucks when Myers 99's stalking and downs me. I still feel like he at least earned it, and my frustrations are mainly with the other Survivors on my team. Same with Oni and him activating Blood Fury next to me after I haven't seen him all game. There's at least a minimum level of work involved with them. Unlike the rednecks who just have their power from the start.

These are all good points and I agree but because survivors don't heal isn't a reason why a killer should have a one shot.
Everyone person plays different killers at different levels
but if a rank 20 billy or LF hit you and a rank 20 nurse hits you, what happens?
Same at rank 1

If your question isn't about balance, what is it about? You talk about other killers "earning" their powers, so you're saying these killers don't earn it, hence your implication is that they're unbalanced.
2 -
You should know the mechanics yourself considering you're an active player but ok:
1) Charge up mechanic (allowing survivors to vault a window or drop/vault a pallet)
2) Charge/token re-charge mechanic (which requires patience as going at 2 charges for instance may result in too little chainsaw range to get the down)
3) collision/tantrum mechanic (which allows survivors to pretty much get away for free in a chase if Bubba bumps into anything)
4) Charge/token TIMING (which requires more mechanical skill than most other killer powers in the game and messing up the timing can cost you the chase. Takes practice especially when using the chainsaw to anti-loop)
Video sample of anti-looping while timing the charges and avoiding collision:
Tell me how I didn't earn that down.
4 -
Because extremely few people complain about them being unbalanced because they have a 1-shot.
There could be something unbalanced about the 1-shot's mechanics, but removing it entirely isn't necessary.
Discussions like this one that you made are quite rare.
2 -
one shot base kit abilities are not always free, billy and bubu are dealt with by moving to loops mainly ones with vaults so you can try to force them to m1 you. myers and GF need to charge their 1 shot up before it can be used as well as oni.
the only outliner really is myers since he can activate it whenever once it is charged up but all the others can be avoided by playing near vaults or pallets or by staying alert.

I have a stream of me getting 32k points 4 iris as speed Limiter Bubba and of me being rushed as regular Bubba clearly insta downs at base are too weak and should be buffed to compensate.
0 -
So your point is... What? I'm seriously confused.
1 -
That one you did earn, but I'm talking about the other thousand downs that happen mindlessly.
The ones where people just hold their saw in an open field.
0 -
These are not earned but gifted
1 -
Its easier to 360 on pc than on console so idk where you are getting at

Mindgaming with the saw, managing your charges etc. There is the mechanical skill.

What is the problem are you trying to solve?
If the problem is just getting some random answers for the question "why a killer should have a one-shot in their base kit?". Maybe one answer is simply because its fun for the killers. This answer the question? yes. This is fact and you don't have to agree? yes. This is enough to decide if this feature should remain? no.
Just to be clear, I know there is also the opposite side of the question (it is also not fun for survivors). But seems that OP is just asking about the "why yes", confusing a lot of people who is trying to help.
tldr: Your question is not enough to conclude anything and you are purposely limiting the answers to it. If you clarify your goals for that question, maybe people can help better.

Because a one-shot is a decent payoff to aim for that can allow for multiple Killer designs built around reaching that payoff.

Wait you are from germany ?
0 -
Yes, that's correct.
0 -
because killers would be garbage imagine if tier 3 myers didn't insta down and was just a longer lunge with faster vault speed
