What do you consider "toxic"?
![MusicNerd_TC](https://forums.bhvr.com/applications/dashboard/design/images/banned.png)
The term "toxic" has been thrown around dbd so much, that I think it has lost its meaning. My definition of toxicity is intentionally ruining other players experiences with bad intentions, ######### talking in the end game chat and hacking/exploiting.
What do you consider toxic?
Comments

constantly talking about how """"toxic"""" everything is... is pretty toxic imo
5 -
Putting out a ptb and pretending you want/care about feedback when you already know what you’re gonna do
13 -
This is actually pretty accurate, lol.
4 -
They have made some pretty big changes from the ptb to live because of the community backlash, look at PTB ghostface and blight for example, lol.

That
One
X-tremly
Idiotic
#########
....That doesn't care about playing the game and is only in it to spoil as many people's experience as they can. 👻
6 -
Intentionally trying to ruin a player's fun, aka bullying the killer when they gave up, body blocking so they can 't get out,
2 -
I see what you did there.
3 -
Not letting me win is pretty toxic

Toxicity are post game messages consisting of but not limited to:
EZ /Baby Survivor/Killer/ You suck/KXS/Get Cancer/I´ll send you a bomb/racial/sexual slurs/etc
Unfortunately, these are extremely common, especially from Survivor players in my experience.
In-game, it´s hard to determine. Soft BM is actually nothing I personally consider toxic. A good example of toxicity was a video that a new Killer recently shared here. It showed hardcore griefing and abuse towards him from an experienced SWF Bully squad. This was a prime example of toxicity, but a little tbagging after a pallet stun or whatever is nothing I consider toxic in the actual terms meaning.
NOED, DS/UB, Flashlights, not even Object are inherently toxic. They are just parts of the game.

Toxic post game messages, letting the survivor die when you slug them instead of hooking them so they have to wait out the timer

toxic is what devs do killing the exp of players with stuttering and low FPS

Just a bit aside from the topic (and absolutely no negativity meant at you at all) but I thought the forum had a swear word filter, or that's what I've been told by mods.
How did you get that C word through? I'm kinda impressed! :D

Saying all sorts of vile garbage in post-game chat. I don't really care about all the ways people can say "lol ur bad" but you know what I mean, people that seemingly can't keep the slurs and overly personal attacks under control.
Going into a match with the explicit intent of making people mad, even placing it before actually trying to win. Big bonus points if someone does this and then cries while pretending to be an innocent victim when their opponent(s) troll them back and come out on top.
... And that's pretty much it.

The only toxic things are those for me, dc-ing and body blocking, endgame chat can be reported.

ezezezez HAHAHAHAHA
I get mad on every ez, even if it might be ironically.

This is a very complicated topic to me that I wish players would approach with nuance, but my definition is your example with a few more additions if I may
See I don't think that perks, tactics, add ons, killers and the likes are toxic but I could understand not enjoying certain things right? I hate being bodyblocked by an entire SWF that happens to always know where I am, but I get it. Bodyblocking could be a pretty good play, but I know the difference between not liking something and thinking it's toxic. Bodyblocking as killer to keep survivor from leaving basement then going afk is toxic, bodyblocking to save an ally is not. It's about intent.
I want to go in depth with this in another post, but rather than having rulebooks, manipulating players into playing the way they want to, and shaming we should push for a more dynamic and free game especially for killers. Survivors have this and unpopular opinion: they think of the coolest ######### with the tools allowed. You should have seen my face when I was 360ed. We need more of that. Dead by Daylight needs more room for players to expand the way they play thus maintaining surprise with a neat cat and mouse feel.

I hate this so much, I've faced so much anti-black racism from playing the matches that I barely even have motivation to play killer anymore. No matter how much a player does something you agree with there's no excuse for slurs. No excuse to make members of your fandom feel unwanted and unsafe.

The only thing that is toxic in this game is hacking and outright insults in after game chat.
Nothing that can be done through gameplay is toxic because of how the game is actually designed.
And yes, that includes face camping.
2 -
Hacking, talking poorly about people in the endgame chat on pc, teabagging every time the killer makes a mistake or you stun them. To me anything else is either dumb gameplay or jokingly called toxic. Like tunnel down moris, no skill there but I jokingly call them toxic. Combining the above is worse. If you're hacking, teabagging every time the killer makes a mistake or you show your hacking, and then talk poorly in the endgame chat that's really toxic but that only applies to survivors.

I just wrote it. I was surprised it appeared. I didn't do anything special. 👻

BM. Going out of your way to annoy someone or abuse mechanics to annoy someone. And especially Locker DS. There's no reason for that. Ever. It's just a survivor showing of their timed immortality because they're too lazy to loop or too greedy to find a proper gen.
And especially especially the facecamp-into-noed, or afk-into-noed. It may just sound like I'm calling out specific perks, but it's not the perks that are the problem.

Anything, if you victimize yourself enough.

I think it's if someone goes out of their way to ruin your game. So if I'm playing killer I'd consider a toxic survivor as someone who doesn't leave me alone because they want to go out of their way to upset me or bully. And as survivor I'd consider a toxic killer as someone who's purposely trying to upset survivors or get them killed by tunelling or camping.

Only the messages I get after a game. Everything else is fair play.

Licker ds is a counter to slugging, slugging is a counter to ds so its common place. I get where youre coming from with those survivors that play as if theyre immortal then jump in a locker, but i wouldnt consider either thing toxic on the survivors part. If bhvr didnt intend for it to be that way they would have fixed the perk long ago

Pretty much this ^

Using a key or a mori

So it's intended that someone is untouchable because they jump into a locker and now you're only options are to leave them alone and let them work in a generator, camp them and let their team work on generators, or eat the DS and let them get even more time?
That makes no sense. It is a toxic thing to do. There is no reason the survivor should ever be allowed to counter a snowball like that. None. That's like saying a killer should be able to regress a completed gen.

Had a doctor today say in post-game chat, "You can't loop worth [BAD WORD], please delete the game" I'm a rank 7 who just downloaded the game over a month ago and he literally killed every survivor at two gens. I don't understand why he was even upset because I was unexperienced with looping, especially a doctor. If he had constructive criticism that would be completely fine, but that comment just wasn't it.

Some people just have no empathy for others on video games

I agree it makes no sense that the developers put it into the game. But theyve had numerous years to fix it and havent. Its not a bug for sure. The only conclusion is they intend it to be this way until they decide to change it. Calling this play "toxic" when its something built into the game is as silly as when survivors call camping/tunneling toxic. These are rules people make up in their head and expect everyone else to adhere to. Thats goofy. I agree they should adjust the perk. I dont agree that people using something built into the game is "toxic."

Gg Ez, clicky click, and haha in your face pallet drops.

i guess forcing the other person to dc on purpose by either blocking them to a corner for 10 minutes or abusing some kind of glitch. Most stuff that people complain is toxic is people taking the game too seriously.
0 -
This may be vague but for me it’s doing anything that involves intentionally trying to make sure other players are having a bad time.
0 -
Pretty much the same as you. Doing a dickheaded thing with dickheaded intentions.

Just being a jerk for 'fun' in my opinion. Like if I get face camped and the killer hits me to tell me to speed up my death and starts nodding their head, I struggle even longer. If I get slugged and the killer is refusing to hook anyone or is tunneling the last walking survivor, I look for common hatch spawn areas and hide as long as I can. And, worst of all, if I get tunneled exclusively throughout the match because I was the only hooked one (even when they are next to people doing objectives and I'm fully healed) I sometimes just stay still and let them take me because I bet it's not as fun to just take an already dead inside survivor haha! It's not fun to go against these tactics. And I only mention killers because I'm a survivor main. I am in no way saying that all killers are toxic, I've had awful teammates that only provoke people or spam the flashlight. And worst of all... the spam unhooks before leaving you to die!!!!!!!!
