Minus 9k players over the last 30 days. DbD is dying?
Steam Charts revealed the reduction of 9000 players over the last 30 days. Dead by Daylight has literally never seen such a dramatic change so far.
Obviously, this site does not give us information about the entire playrbase. We don't know how many players are from PS, XBOX, etc and did they undergo the changes as well. What do you think?

Xbox probably has more players due to it being on game pass

considering a dlc just recently released, it's probably not a good sign. Looks like they are losing all the players they got from the covid lockdown

probably because there hasnt been a big update for 3 months.. was one yesterday but its up at 50K players now

Its never going to die but I don't mind seeing it taking damage.

In my own anecdotal experience, I stopped because the game is unbelievably boring and stale, the slow development cycle hurts the game extremely.
I redownloaded to check out event, was very disappointed.

But why then the reduction happened so suddenly?

No it's not dying, there's always peaks and troughs in any game as your graphic itself shows...it's up 10k on average players from this time last year.

Mom said it was my turn to post this again

There probably will be a pretty big drop this month. With the event being kinda lackluster.
While the new skins are amazing that's bassicly it and not everyone can affort to spend money on cosmetics in a game.
That said it probably won't die. Most of the playerbase will probably return with the new chapter once they once again realised there is no other game like this out there.
It is quite a noticable drop and i suspect console is probably doing even worse with the performance issues

Leaks perhaps? Maybe people are just getting sick and tired by BHVR's shenanigans.

Even a casual examination of this chart shows a typical up and down. No, I think it is clear DbD is not dying.

i wonder how consoles are doing considering this update just made it almost unplayable due to the frames

Keep in mind that the big drop there is covering late September and early October. That's the downtime between Rifts/Events.
While obviously not everyone put lots of effort into the Rift, I'm sure plenty of players did spend lots of their time and energy grinding it. If they're anything like me, they probably decided to use this downtime to take a break from the game to pop back in fresh for the Halloween... uh, "Event".
The numbers will likely begin to climb back up over the next week or so and then get back to their regularly-scheduled fluctuating as people get done checking out the event and deciding how much they want to participate in it.

Glad it isn’t just me who stopped playing. I’m only back on for the event then I’m leaving again

Devs gave you a reason to not come back anymore with this event 🤣

The last DLC was not fun at all. Survivor perks suck, Killer perks with power unfun to verse. I huge bleedout doesn't surprise me.
Having said that, DBD is like a war tank, its going to be ok...

Maybe.
Say it enough times, and you'll eventually be right, right?
But seriously, with people being less and less stuck at home, and with this event garnering this kind of feedback, having such a drop doesn't feel too off.
Idk, we'll see how it continues after another while.

I only play on rifts and new character releases. So there are long periods where I don't play. (but not enough to knock me out of red/purple Q_Q)
I like the game, but I can't play hide and seek simulator every day like some people do.

I've been playing DBD less and less. Went from playing it every single day to now roughly twice a week. Between the dumpster fire known as solo queue to the ######### I see when I play killer, I've been given less and less reasons to open up the game page in my library. Dead by daylight has been repetitive, dull and stale for a long while now, at least for me.
I'm much happier playing through DMC5 and making badass combos there. A lot less frustration now since I know a hook suicide/dc won't seal my ######### fate (totally didn't have that just happen to me btw.) In the past I used to just queue up again in hopes of having that one good match, you know what I'm talking about. Now? I'd much rather save up the time and energy. No thank you.
