Resident Evil Tie-In : Crazy fan Theory on The Hallowed Blight Event
With the upcoming Hallowed Blight event, I noticed a striking similarity to the Resident Evil universe. To understand this you’ll need a little history backstory on Resident Evil, which will highlight the similarities to the Hallowed Blight Event.
The very first Virus in the series was not actually the T-Virus, but another virus called the “Progenitor Virus.” A man by the name of Henry Travis mentioned a small village in South Africa that used a flower called “Stairway of The Sun” to become “Super Human”. Lords Oswell Spencer and Edward Ashford began searching for these flowers after rediscovering Travis’s notes.
The flowers were found to harbor a virus inside them, this virus was a double stranded RNA virus which broke down a infected person/animal/plants DNA and recombined it. Causing genetic mutations that led to heightened abilities. However this process was highly dangerous and usually ended in death due to the massive strain and trauma caused by genetic breakdown before recombination.
An expedition lead by Oswell Spencer an a scientist named Dr. James Marcus and his assistant found the flower in Kijuju and western region of Africa.
The Progenitor Virus was then used in experiments by Oswell Spencer on Lisa Trevor and her family, only Lisa survived.
After much research and experimentation, Dr. James Marcus combined The Progenitor Virus with the DNA of leeches, creating the T-Virus.
Now then, onto the Hallowed Blight event.
As we can see, there is a striking similarity with the shown Hallowed Blight cosmetics and the way the Killers are “infected” to create the cosmetics. Vigo and Benedict harvested “nectar” from the “flowers” of The Enities “purge”. As you can see on the images of the new cosmetics for Trapper, Wraith, Huntress, Doctor... they all have a “vial” stuck into them. This vial cause horrible “mutations” in the Killers.
The way I see this... Vigo is like Oswell Spencer. Where as Benedict Baker is like Dr. James Marcus. Vigo discovered the flowers of the Enities “purge” and created the “serum”. This is like Oswell finding the flower and creating the Progenitor Virus.
Benedict then did further research and development and created the “serum” but it was stronger and had a higher success rate but higher mutation, this isn’t unlike Dr. James Marcus creating the T-Virus. Benedict also simply injected a dead rodent with the “serum” which “reanimated” it. It then bit him, infecting him. (Much like T-Virus infected creatures in Resident Evil.)
Now, the Killers have been injected with his “serum” and began to horribly mutate (the new cosmetics).

Most other fans want Nemesis, though I say that would be the same problem as Birkin. Too restrictive on the developers, plus, to me personally, Nemesis used weapons as well as brute strength and mutations. His use of weaponry as advanced as guns and a rocket launcher just kind of makes me feel “Ehhhh... doesn’t fit.”0 -

I like the classic Tyrant but what if the survivor was Wesker. We get an actual bad guy as a survivor and his perks are based around being less than teamwork friendly. You can't go overboard because people would use him to troll, but a little imagination around his perk build would shake things up.

I'm a longtime Resident Evil fan but I don't get the huge jumps in logic as to where RE comes into this. Similar lore doesn't mean anything, and it's not even from the original trilogy or remake. This was pretty much a retcon introduced in 5, right? Not exactly the series at its best, boulder punching and all. Then you have the fact that countless books, movies, and TV shows have used the same kind of premise.
I don't think I'm too keen on the characters appearing either. I know PC has Bill, so same kind of deal, but in RE you can actually fight back. I wouldn't want to see Chris or Jill totally unable to do anything except run away and DS.
Probably not a popular opinion, but I love both DBD and RE, and think they're better in their own element.0 -
Realistically we would probably get Sheva, or Rebecca because they would be more affordable then the others. Maybe Steve or Claire, I'd love any of them really.

Have you seen most of the anti-Bioweapons people fight?
Chris punches multi ton boulders, and moves them. He'd probably shoryuken a nurse, or something. And you're welcome for that mental image.
Leon is a master at gun fu, and unarmed combat.
Most of the crew is used to fighting charging people with chainsaws, so Billy, and Leatherface would probably get a rude surprise after they miss, and get decked by people used to it.
The Entity usually picks people who aren't masters of combat, IMO, Bill aside, probably.
Especially unarmed combat experts who's physical feats would turn a lot of the more grounded killers (Billy, Huntress, Trapper, LF, hag, etc.) into a pretzel.Anyone remember the Resident Evil Outbreak series? The survivors from there seem way more grounded.
Pretty much no match vs a Bioweapon, and maybe not another armed person.
Way less popular, I'd guess, though.Bioweapons galore, though. The killer is supposed to be scary, and physically overpowering.
Imagine being a licker, and having some vertical game? Leaping out of trees, or off houses, or off jungle gyms? Using the tongue and claws as a weapon?0 -

Never ran out of ammo and bolted for your life in RE? Plenty of times the characters have tucked tail and ran.
I can see your point though. It does kind of hurt their image a bit seeing them so helpless.0 -
Well as long as we don't have wesker as a killer, this theory is pretty cool lol.

This was RE7 right?

@SovererignKing - I had a very similar theory, very close to yours in fact.
I'm suspecting this may lead to a new killer and survivor from the RE series, which would be cool

Ooooo Jake as ustank I mean that guy is a firkin tank built from from a nuke bunker it takes a elephant killer magnum point blank in the heart to kill it after having a hole punched through it and while Jake can fight dont forget one thing against ustank you must run especially if the drvs can get the triple drill ustank plus he could carry 2 surviors making it much harder to free depending on what arm you use (like have the basement lockers at the front of the stairs for him carry the drill and grappling hook)0
