These devs are even worse then I thought they surprise me every time
As their post states at the top of the page " Thank you to everyone for bringing this to our attention", they were not even aware what update did to console..... How do you release something like this without testing it first????

It’s console, they never fix issues on here. The way bugs get fixed are either by general patches for all platforms or by some accident that wasn’t targeting any actual fix but happened to do one anyways.
That’s why I always advocate people to spend their money wisely on this game, especially for console players.

This is like the neverending story aka the neverending QUESTION we keep asking them. Its still a hotkey response...

To actually answer the question:
They can't test on console because of Microsoft, Sony, etc putting boulders in their way.
If you want a PTB on consoles, you have to get those companies to allow it (for dbd) by default.

They don't even have to have a ptb for console. Just fire up a ps4 and test the build you're about to release in house. It blows my mind how often this happens. I know they care more about pc than anything else but we paid for this game too. Not to mention the money spent on dlc after dlc, cosmetics, and the rift. The least they could do is test the version of the game they're giving us. That reminds me of another gaming company that cares more about money than quality products. I love this game and have for years but if BHVR is turning into EA Canada, it's heartbreaking.

I mean, I am sure there are legit reasons why a PTB is not out on console.

iirc microsoft, sony etc aren't that keen on 'homebrew' stuff. it would need an emulator to test, which would not be the same. I need to check back with a friend who's working in the field, but iirc it's not as easy 'just fire up your console'

Do you think other gaming companies don't have ways to test their games' patches before they are released?

they have contracts with the companies to have the okay.
As people on here love to point out 'corporate greed'. If you think bhvr is bad for that, you should see the hassle they are probably facing from license holders...

I understand having to get the ok on the release of a patch but dude they have to test it before they even get that far. Meaning they have ways to test on console before they release. I highly doubt they have contracts to test upcoming patches. That's what dev kits are for.

😂
Of course devs can test their games on the consoles.
Can you imagine the crap state every single console game would be in if they couldn't test games before they released them?

BHVR only saw consoles as another channel of revenue. They could reach another playerbase that would buy their macrotransactions, DLCs, Rift and skins. They never cared about consoles otherwise.

Yep!
The old event cosmetics were made available to everyone because it was unfair that console player's couldn't get them, and they care sooooo much about those platforms. Players who joined the game after one of the battlepasses ended though? Nah, don't care about those. They just can't get certain items ever. Same for the next-gen consoles! Anyone who joins the game on the next-gen console, as in those who didn't own the game before on another platform, won't be able to get the battlepass items. They don't actually care about console players. The old event cosmetics were released to temporarily stop complaints from console players regarding the horrible performance. "See guys, we care about you! We're giving you items that already existed in the game and that cost us nothing to give to you! Now stop complaining about your abysmal FPS and go play with your new outfits."
