The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

Survivor is near impossible ot play on console.

HOW did you make the lag worse!? Oh I know, throwing out graphical updates haphazardly Not bothering to optimize in between. I get solid 3 second lag spikes FOR NO REASON, 3 full seconds of the game just having a spaz attack and freezing. Stop giving out crappy cosmetics and even worse events until you have the other half of your community able to play the game with no problems. Optimization should be TOP priority, unless you want people to have an unreasonably hard time playing YOUR game.

And no, this lag isn't a one time, It is VERY frequent.

Fix one thing, break everything else I guess.

My game even crashed early this morning (4-5am est) and was greeted with a time out (DC penalty)

The match loaded but I was stuck till I got kicked back to Xbox home page

Plus the usual spike when Bloodlust activates

Running away from a killer when Bloodlust activates

Doing most actions seem to cause a lag spike...

I think BHVR underestimated how hard it would be to balance optimizations between all platforms. I play on PC and I only have a 1060. The video card does well enough for frame rates in general, but sometimes the fans go nuts and I'll get some stuttering. I know console can be a lot worse and if BHVR had the resources, I wish they would have separate teams for consoles and PCs for optimizing *as well as* balancing. But I doubt that will ever happen considering how much time they spent on crossplay.

I tried playing Freddy. Not sure how bad it really was due to the frame rate issues but I know I missed constantly. One survivor seemed liked they passed through me a couple or times. I doubt they did but it seemed like they did.

I have Xbox one x, s, and vcr Xbox. Dbd has issues on the "world's most powerful console".

It works fine on Xbox s and vcr Xbox. But the usual console lag exists.

Bc bhvr doesn't care about console players as much as pc. PC players have never had such horrible performance issues that we've had so many times.

It's simply because bhvr prioritizes pc, how long do you think it'll take them to fix the console fps? Bc I think if it was pc, they'd be working like dogs to fix the issue.

Freddy has always had performance issues on console right? I imagine it's even worse now, on PC his dream world has major lighting issues and without fail everytime you get hit and sent into the dream world the game hangs for half a second. It's happened to literally everyone I know who's played against Freddy recently.

This makes me wonder how the game is for Switch players. Is it just as bad?

Which isn't saying much, as PC performance for all tiers of computers is dramatically lower than vastly more impressive (visually, technically, player count-wise, every SINGLE metric) games, to the extent that it's almost comical.

Yes, you can get over 60 FPS, and compared to console performance that's great, but you still deal with stutters (especially after playing for a while, game performance gets worse and worse and worse until you restart the game) and massive frame drops which makes it easy to make mistakes. To the extent of consoles? Absolutely not, but even on a 3080, if I dare to set the game on Ultra and 4k (which should net me easily 100+FPS, especially when compared to vastly more impressive games like Warzone, Battlefield, Remnant: From the Ashes, Hunt: Showdown, which all perform much better, look much better, and more importantly run consistently) then I can expect very good FPS on some maps, and then I'll hit Lery's and look a certain direction and it still drops down to sub-40.

Keep in mind, this is on one of the most powerful video cards in the world, my PC is already dramatically faster than the Series X or PS5, and I get sub-40 drops in a game as assy looking as DBD, with itty bitty maps, no destructible terrain, only 5 players total, in an INDOOR MAP. It's like there's no culling whatsoever and the game just loads absolutely everything at all times, but even if that was the case, I am able to disable culling in FFXIV at 4k (FFXIV is an MMO that also looks much better than DBD with its 5 whole players) and get FAR better performance in maps 10x the size of anything in DBD.

Something is fundamentally busted with the game. I have a PC that could eat next-gen for breakfast but I still keep it set to low at 2560x1440 to ensure I minimize frame drops/stutters, which still eventually happen regardless. It's pathetic.

Again, I know that the idea of that kind of performance is still a dream come true to console players, but the issue is this isn't going to get any better with next-gen either, and they show no technical ability to actually fix the game. We've been hearing about optimizations for 2 years AND THE GAME RUNS WORSE.

It's like they refuse to hire people who can dedicate the time and effort into digging way deep into that filthy code and untangling the mess. I have absolutely no doubt that if the game was programmed and designed properly, even base Xbox One would be able to hit a smooth 60. There's simply NOTHING in the game to warrant the awful performance. It looks like buttcheeks, it has tiny, static maps, there's no fancy physics engine or deep interactions with the world or other players, the player count is both small and set in stone, I just don't get it, and the more I think about it the more annoyed I get.

same. I rarely have an issue on xbox. We have 2 xboxs in our house, and both run the game fine.

I do not own an Xbox, nor do I play this game on the PS4, but I'd be very curious to see what you consider "fine" performance on your Xbox. You hitting a "solid" (lol) 30 FPS with no drops or stutters?

It's pretty ridiculous on ps4. What happened to them "taking special care" when it came to graphic update for consoles?

Do you remember the Roadmap(s) (that don't exist anymore, because the devs been unreliable) where we were supposed to get ONE Console Optimization Patch, it turned into several small patches because they couldn't deliver it in time.

And now it's suddenly turned into the Map Rework project, that they want to optimize consoles.

Yep, it was just empty promises to console players in hopes that console players would just suck it up and keep playing. I'm switching to game with actual Halloween event, wonder how many other ps4 players are doing same since game is running so poorly and there's no Halloween event.

If I want to play something remotely scary this Halloween, I will try out the Nightmare levels from the newer Tomb Raider installments.

    Those I can recommend.

Me too. And another family member on a laptop doing other internet stuff on top of that.

Well, The game doesn't chug like a teen with a goon bag, so yeah. Occasional stutter, but I usually chalk it up to Aus NBN being worse than Nurse's kill rates. Nothing game breaking at all.
