The Hallowed Blight and its 3 different interations.
Year 1. You could earn free cosmetics with serium that was gathered from either hooks or flowers. The community didn't like that we could only get 3 pieces of cosmetics so the devs changed it so we could get 6 pieces or 2 full sets of cosmetics.
Issues this year had were too many killer players with long queue times as you needed to play both sides to get the vials. This was changed during the event to allow either side to gain as many vials as they wanted up to 60.
Year 2. Removed the flowers and nectar from hooks and put all the serium into their brand new battle pass, which already had some backlash. Bloodpoints could be earned from the blighted hooks and generators. and the rift pass had all the currency to get another 6 pieces of cosmetics, or 2 full sets.
Issues this year were people were apprehensive of the pass and the challenge of some of the tome. Other than that it was not too offensive.
Present day: No free cosmetics, no serium on the battle pass, flowers returned for 3 archive missions. The only free rewards are bloodpoints and some charms.
Is the backlash from this event justified? Well that is for you to decide.

Such greed from the devs is just disheartening..

I really liked the 2018 Hallowed Blight event. I thought it was fun.
Last year I was disappointed, the Tome challenges and pumpkin gens/hooks didn't make up for the lack of awesome pustula plants, but at least we could earn the serum through the Rift. It wasn't perfect, it wasn't nearly as fun as the previous year, but at least there was a goal to work towards.
There's nothing this year. Nothing fun. No goal to work towards. It's just... empty. Absolutely empty.

Great comparison. I wonder why the monetisation has taken over so drastically. One could think since they already make millions from the battlepass and cosmetics they would give something nice back. Not too much, but at least somewhat on par with previous events. As someone who missed the first two blight events, I feel I really missed out on these, since this year can hardly be called an event.

TBH For me personally it isn't the fact that we can't earn Skins anymore (It's a major bummer and a downgrade but whatever)
As you said, how can they call it an event, if there isn't really anything to work towards to? The flowers are locked behind Tome Challenges that I can do in May for example. The Pustula Offering is really scarce in the bloodweb to have an effective Bloodpoint event. The Halloween items and Addons are the only thing that work in terms of an event.
BUT literally starting into the third match, the Killer Addon bugged out and didn't gain stacks anymore.
I know that they always create bugs somehow in these events, but this year it's like the final nail in the coffin.
I mean we're in the ETERNAL BLIGHT the Grand Finale, and to have such a major downgrade in terms of a Halloween Event (for a HORROR game) is such a letdown

It's funny how games without horror as a main theme gets better Halloween events than this game.

Next year there won't be any Iridescent Shards option. It'll all be Auric Cells. And they'll remove Halloween decorations as well because its so outdated to have themes around an "event".

I mean look at COD, a First-Person-Shooter. They even got a better Halloween-Event.
They got Leatherface and Billy (Jigsaw Puppet) Skins, Chests in-game that contain jumpscares, A Zombie Mode and they included a Night variant for Map they have. Look at the sheer amount of stuff https://www.pcgames.de/screenshots/original/2020/10/MW-S6.5-ROADMAP-pc-games.jpg
Of course there are some things that can't be implemented into DBD but just the sheer amount of things they have compared to an actual horror game.
I think we just need a real competitor in this area of games to get a change if the Devs don't change their mentality. If DBD was an offline game it's one thing, but Online Games live from Events and stuff like that.

I'm guessing unfortunately that blood garden game (or whatever it was called) would have cost behaviour money as it didn't do as well as expected, so maybe dead by daylight is having to earn the money for all projects? It's just not felt like Halloween this year, 2020 just sucks for all, what else would we expect....

Deathgarden was dead from the start, they were just throwing stuff at the community to try and milk it for as long as possible once people realized the game is flawed.
Oh wait oh no oh god

I think you also needs to pay for Felix’s skin as well :/

Yes deathgarden, in a pityful Xbox player so never got to see it lol wonder if we can have the cosmetics?

The cosmetics aren't that good. I have them since I pre-ordered it, nothing fancy.

Huh, from what I heard the first iteration of the event was deeply flawed because people would just ignore gens to harvest the flowers leading to killers easily 4K'ing every game. Truthfully I had taken a break from the game when the first Halloween event was under way so perhaps it's flaws were exaggerated. I remember really enjoying last year's one because there was no intrusive new objective, you just played the game and as long as you were completing the rift you'd get the skins no problem. The double bp meant that I was basically swimming in bloodpoints which was great. I hear we're getting double bp this year too but it's a week after the event's start so it seems like more of a hasty apology for the garbage event rather then a genuine sign of good will.

it is cash grab not event

Hopefully they don't ever do something like this again, at this point people are very pissed and for the safety of their company they need to realize this

no your right it was easy 4k's in fact once the flowers were gone it was common to suicide to get to the next match. some killers would even just ignore gens and patrol the flowers once they found them because it was easier to find survivors because they would always go to them.
it was unbalanced and very toxic but very enjoyable.

Yep, they know that simps will pay money for that skin. I understand that ghostface is licensed. But what excuse do they have for Felix?

Humm yes, it was a bit overreacted from my point of view. I don't know in red ranks since I was in yellow by the time being but in yellow it was enjoyable or at least I had enjoyable matches, even if the killer sacrificed me.

I almost never had survivors suicide in my matches. To me the event was fun, the matches were usually pretty relaxed, and I liked the Halloween atmosphere in the game.
Watching the stream yesterday, it sounded like the Double XP is to celebrate McCote's birthday and is separate from the event, though maybe I misheard so don't quote me on that.
