How Does A Survivor Escape With 2 Gens Up And No Key?

So I just played a game as Survivor. We're doing awful, 2 gens left, 2 survivors left. Suddenly, that survivor has escaped, End Game collapse is triggered, and I'm forced to open a gate by myself with no option for Hatch - needless to say, ends about as well as you'd expect. I'm assuming the other survivor found Hatch with a Key or something... but in the end game screen, they appear to be using no item or add-ons whatsoever.

If you use a key, does it disappear from the end game scoreboard? Or was this part of this event? Or a bug? I have no idea.

    They looted a key. The end game screen only shows items you start the trial with.

    That key could be found in a chest.

    Ahhhh. Did not realize that if you found a key in a chest, it didn't report on the end game screen.

    Nevermind then. Thanks for clarifying.
