Dead by daylight lost 8000 players they said....
Currently 66K players right at this minute and we have one of the highest peak players of the past months. Seems like we didn't lose 9000k players, that's all folks.

Honestly, there is not another game quite like this. Many of us love horror themed games, and the idea of the game is great. The execution is often weak, but until someone else taps into the same market, we dont' have a good alternate
We are basically meth addicts, hoping someday we can upgrade to some quality cocaine game.

Not saying otherwise, I know there's a lot of console players, I'm just tired of seeing in threads, something like ; "devs bad, game is dying -8000 players* argument.

Also everyone that tapped into the market including BHVR own other game failed, DbD is like you've said like a hard drug and once your are hooked, man it's hard to quit.

If you look into the larger picture I still think DbD is in a good spot, now if we had way less peak players + 6 month of avg players decrease we could worry but I guess you can always say Ded game mate

This post, as well as this comment is mostly irrelevant, have we forgotten that almost the entire world was in lockdown allowing far more people to watch streams, if you look at your own source, beginning January 2020 the views began increasing, the fall is you know... due to people going back to school and back to work, the same reason why DBDs player stats may see an even bigger decrease in players than usual, more people have had more time to play, and now they're getting back into the rhythm of work and education.

October has never been DbD's "Biggest month of the year". In fact, October/November is a slump period because it's usually a month or two after a big DLC release.
e.g.
October 2019 -13%
September 2019 +21%
November 2018 - -18%
October 2018 - +3%
September 2018 - +12%
November 2017 -4%
October 2017 +3%
September 2017 +17%
Basically these slumps and increases are cyclical based on the DLC releases and corresponding sales. Now if their next quarter shows no increase followed by another big decline then it might mean something.

Keep in mind that it is half term week in the UK (you'll know what that is if you're British) so more people will be active

You can't look at it in a nutshell, though. The summer was carried by Silent Hill and the 4th anniversary (which absolutely rained down bloodpoints). The average player count now is right in line with the spring during corona. The player count declined during October last year too.

That's the problem. Every competitor has ######### something up, then crashed and burned.
F13: The Game got destroyed thanks the lawsuit about who owns F13. It's two straight years and the lawsuit still isn't over, so it's unlikely it'll ever be revived.
Last Year: Afterdark bit the bullet thanks to ######### management and bad press, They're trying to get a publisher deal but who knows if that'll work out.
Hide or Die basically got killed off for the same reasons as Last Year: Afterdark.
Phasmophobia is co-op only and I doubt it'll become DBD's rival when they add the "1 Player is a ghost" mode.
Secret Neighbor and Unfortunate Spacemen are much more like Trouble in Terrorist Town or Among Us than DBD.
