I won't stop complaining about the brightness
I hate how all new graphically updated maps now are extremely dark forcing me to play on low setting just to see slightly better.
What's up with the idea that all updated maps must be super dark that you hardly see anything. Do I really need to instal external programs to fix this seriously.
I love aesthetics of new maps but they're JUST TOO DAMM DARK. It wasn't like this before halloween update but since then I just hate lightning on all new maps that don't have direct light sources including new azarov's maps. Luckily ormond is full of snow making that map bearable but some places I still notice that it's much darker then it was before.
I wish things just went back so that I can see where I'm even going. But that is probably too much to ask.

I agree. I love the idea of improved graphics but the maps are WAY too dark, is even difficult to play during the day because any small light on the the room makes it close to impossible to play comfortably.

I just had a game on the Autohaven map with the mechanic shop. Someone used a purple mist thickener (mist is black on that map now for some reason) and I literally could not see two feet in front of me. It's awful. Same with Yamaoka and Badham

I really really hope devs will do something about it. It feels even worse then back in the day with dark moom flowers that made map super dark. I just want to see the damm map and not sumble in the darkness geez.

There are multiple 3rd party apps that are white listed by the anti cheat system to help make the game brighter. It is really lame, many of us that can't see well have to resort to use them, but I would like to play the game, and the pitch dark default mode of this game might be cool for you young kids that can see, but I'm old and broken, but still want to enjoy games.

I wish there was something console could do about it.

regardless of them being dark or not, I just feel the new maps look downright ugly, just a bunch of disjointed pre-setup stuff around.
And know that is exactly how the maps are "randomly generated" but the point is to hide it...the point is that stuff should look like its been there for ages.
Instead its missing so much connection with eachother, everything is its own object, its not a combined whole like it should be.

Well atleast you some ways to work around it. On console you're stuffed.

I'm 16 and still can't see ######### lol, could be because my eyes are ######### but it defo ain't amazing for us young'uns either.

Yeah that's extremely bright. I just want to make the maps visible but insted need to put up with darkness that almost prevents me from seiing where I'm even going.

This. Hearing things like "sound card this" and "filters that" is very discouraging and increases the feeling of being at a disadvantage just by starting up my Xbox...

are all you guys blind or something? because I can see clearly, in fact it looks bright. playing on ultra btw babs

Dark? I've actually found them to be alot lighter and more consistent, especially previously troublesome maps like yamaoka estate.

I'm a PC player upping the brightness on my monitor via the settings on the monitor itself. A console player could also do this I presume, but it varies from monitor to monitor.

If you don't have a problem that great for you.
I've been playing since launch and never had problmes with brightness until now. So something has changed and not for the better.
2 -
Same,it's not like i'm super old but it's still pretty hard to keep track of survivors on Macmillan amd Badham

I would not call this Dark:
IMO Ormond is still way too bright.
(Thats on Ultra, btw)

so have i dude, it used to be waaaaaaaaaay darker a couple of years ago, I think they finally did it perfectly. its dark enough to be creepy but not to bright to be lame
0 -
ya lmao I don't know what they are going on about
0 -
Yeah ormond is not what I'm complaining about. Badham, yamaoka, new autoheavens etc are.

Never really had a problem with brightness on new maps but even if there is shouldn't it be like really easy to set the brightness higher on your monitor/TV?

I know there are work arounds but that doesn't change the problem that devs changed lightning in a negative way and that they should revert it back the way it was before.

I dont think that those Maps are too dark. I think that most Maps are way too bright, you dont really feel like it is night ingame. Like, pre-rework MacMillan allowed to stand at the Wall near Shack and see what is going on inside the Ironworks, which are quite far away. You should not be able to see Survivors or Killers clearly that far away.
The only Map where I would say that it is too dark sometimes would be the lower Floor of The Game, some Corners are really dark.
But with other Maps, I never had any problems with the lightning.
But this is highly subjective, others might find them too dark, we dont have the same eyesight. But before reworking the Maps I was usually disappointed how bright they always are.

Also, Blight literally can not see scratch marks in grass. He's broken on every new map.

of course they use a map actually has light on it as a counter point because you can't have an issue without someone being that way.
Many of us find maps too dark. as I said, my solution was to find a 3rd party app that was white listed by the Anti cheat software, but it is lame that I have to go that route.

Well, the map reworks removed a lot of looping opportunities for survivors, keeping chases shorter than they used to be.
However, to balance that out, you need to buff the stealth option for survivors. And thats what the brightness does.
Would you prefer survivors can neither run nor hide?

The thing is, you can freely use filter to brighten the game up as you can see in the video posted in this thread.
Brightness has nothing to do with balance of the game since it's something we can adjust ourselfs if we want and use outer programs to do so. I just hate that devs keep messing with it when it didn't need any changes.

Yes, but voice chat breaks the game too, and people use outer programs for that.
People use stretched resolution to see more of the game when they should.
You can streamsnipe your survivors if they stream.
To me, its all basicly cheating. You try to see information the game itself doesn´t want you to see, no matter if you get that info due to brightend filters, stretched resolution, or voice com, or watching their stream.
I know the devs can´t and won´t do anything about it, but the more common this gets, the less i play this game, for i dispite running in circles. If hidding is not an option anymore, i am out of the game.

I agree with you. Though I think Badham is the single worst example of this trend.
In a game where killers are pressed for milliseconds, its just stupid to have you waste even 3 seconds getting your bearings or locating a survivor in a dark place.
In Badham you literally can't see anything past 20 ft in front of you unless you play on low or use external programs, which is ridiculous.
Yamaoka used to be worse but seems better, at least to me, and McMillan has been the best so far. I think McMillan is the perfect brightness.
Autohaven is a bit weird its possibly too dark and Ormond is too Bright.
The Game is another map that I find nearly unplayable because of how dark it is unless i switch to low but its an old map.
Its bad as killer and as survivor because if you get hit with deep wounds as survivor or youre in freddy's dream in those maps, you will literally have NO idea where the hell you're even running to. It's awful.
