Isn't it kicking Victor too much?
I talk from experience when my lil sister said "no, no, what are you doing kicking a baby?" even when he is a killer
He is Charlotte's brother so what? he still looks like a "baby" and a survivor kicking him seems too much!
Devs try to lessen the fact of a "kicked" baby with the "crushed" terminology lmao

Woah very good job @Madjura and @SunaIIanu you completely destroyed all those that said Victor is not an underage with your arguments
DBD totally intended an underage killer (figure mom-son) and tried to wrongly fix it with a poor description that messes it up even more
Monto rushed to prepare the memes already about kicking the baby lmfao:

######### no, I'll kick that little ######### all day long.
Its a monster. Not a baby. Why is that hard for people to understand. What did you feel bad for Gollum because he's small and monster babyish?
106 -
Would you agree with underage survivors then, just because they are not monsters?

So we're ok with eating people, ripping off their faces and wearing them, we're ok with them being impaled in end game and having huge spikes driven through their body, but we draw the line at kicking a deformed twin?
People should stop calling it a baby, because it's certainly not that.
98 -
Its not actually a baby we just call it that as A jokeβ’
29 -
I don't see how kicking a demonic spawn child from a womans chest cavity is remotely offensive to anyone. If anyone is actually offended by this, then maybe the internet is not for them? There are just far too many snowflakes in the world these days that find anything offensive.

They should've done more. That kid should've got launched like Ike does in South Park

KICK THE BABY
68 -
IT IS NOT A BABY. Theyβre twins. Meaning Charlotte and Victor are exactly the same age.
29 -
He's an adult, despite his deformities, and while there are people who are too sensitive, they have always been here (look up what happens to a show's rating if you dare depict an LGBT couple, for example).

You should call them g-men for the purpose of political correctness.

It's a horror game, not a kid's game. There is some extreme violence in DbD that we're all perfectly okay with, to the point where one person gets to live out their homicidal fantasies on 4 people pretending to be horror movie characters because we're all a bunch of sick, twisted sadists and masochists desensitised to what's happening on screen. Why is it suddenly not okay because there's something that looks like a baby involved? Because it disturbs a part of you? It's supposed to. And in 2 months you'll be desensitised to that as well.
16 -
Why are you allowing your little sister to watch you play a game were people get eaten alive, put on a meathook, brutilly murdered by a axe, etc etc ...
Have you no shame? Do you not care about her wellbeing at all? I shake my head at you random internet person. Although i don't know you, i expected better.
Tsk tsk tsk

He is NOT a baby. He is Charlottes twin brother. There is no baby kicking in DBD.

Horror is like comedy (because it's just for entertainment) either everything is fair game or nothing is.

The lore says that Victor died when he and Charlotte were children and his half-decayed corpse stayed in her body for many years. The entity took Victor and "resurrected" him.
So I don't understand how he and Charlotte are supposed to be the same age, when he was dead while she aged.
By my understanding he would be zombie toddler or child, because he was older than a baby when he died, still younger than an adult (and you get than Charlotte).
Edit: The lore says the twins were 5 years old when the mother was killed. It doesn't specify how long they stayed at the temple but the wording doesn't sound like it was very long, so I don't think that Victor was older then 6-8 years when he died.
Post edited by SunaIIanu on13 -
The lore implies his body didn't rot because Charlotte's own was keeping it alive in some fashion. It's not outlandish to assume his body aged at the same rate hers did.
5 -
The exact wording is: "Victor's corpse rotted [...] yet demonstrated resistance to complete decomposition" "as if his sister's blood still coursed through him." (I edited in the blood part thanks to Orion's note that it could be misleading without this part.)
Not completely decaying is far from aging imo. There are mummys who are not completely decayed but I wouldn't say that they have aged.
In the end it doesn't matter for me personally, I don't like the general look of the twins (it's the wrong kind of weird imo) but I have not had experiences that make Victor particulary triggering to me.
But I think it's a rude move for people that are triggered by it to bring a child in the game (as far as I know they said they didn't want to do it) and try to justify it with the lame excuse of the same age because of twins (the twin thing is another issue, but a minor one).

Yes, and then there's this part that you left out: "as if his sister's blood still coursed through him."
It doesn't matter to me either, and I do agree it sounds like the devs want to have their cake and eat it too, but he's not supposed to be a baby.
2 -
I think you are wrong.
Almost no one who is unfamiliar with the game (= has not played / does not play the game) will look at him and think he is not a baby.
Almost no one who is playing the game, but has not read the backstory, will think he is not a baby.
Why? For the reasons outlined in my quoted post above.
9 -
I left it out because I don't think it changes the fact: You can't be decaying and aging at the same time.
But I can edit it in if you think the statement is misleading without that part.
I understand that he is supposed to be an adult but I just think the lore contradict that.
I'm sorry if I was rude to you, that wasn't my Intention, this Chapter and the Devs way of handling the expectable discussion of the baby/child thing just dissapoints me, so I might be a bit unfriendly in my responses.
3 -
It's a fictional character in a horror video game, so no it ain't too much.
16 -
I do think it's misleading because the intent, as I understand it, was to imply that Charlotte was keeping Victor's body alive, even if he himself was already dead. Then there's the Entity, who can do almost anything She pleases. She could've aged Victor's body and kept it from fully decaying. Regardless, even if he died when he was 6, that's still not a baby.
I don't think you were rude, just FYI.
1 -
You can't be decaying and aging at the same time.
[...]
I understand that he is supposed to be an adult but I just think the lore contradict that.
I think you are completely right and I want to emphasize your argument a bit.
Charlotte is intended to be young, barely old enough to be considered an adult. As you point out it makes no sense to say you are aging when you are dead. Victor was dead. While he was dead, for an unspecified amount of time, he did not age.
Charlotte is barely old enough to be an adult. Victor is younger because he did not age while dead. Therefore Victor is younger than "barely old enough to be an adult". That means that at the very least he is a child, even if not a baby / toddler. It is not specified for how long he was dead, or how old his sister is, so he could still technically be barely old enough to be considered an adult if you count only the time he spent alive. The backstory does not state this explicitly, and because Charlotte is young and due to how Victor looks, moves and sounds I think players are definitely supposed to see him as a baby.
If you age while dead you could add a new killer, "The Zombie" that is literally just a a zombie baby. As long as it has been in the zombie-state for long enough (21 years should be safe, but you could also make it 100 years to be extra sure) then by the same logic it's not a problem anymore. But I think everyone would agree that that killer would definitely be a baby even if the physical body is technically old enough to be an adult.

So, there's kicking a person who suffers from disabilities then...?
11 -
We have been hitting Hillbilly with pallets for a good 4 years without that being an issue
30 -
Okay, I added it in, thank you.
If I remember it correctly the lore mentions her teenage years, so you are probably right and she is supposed to be atleast 18, but probably not much older.
If I understand you correctly you are saying that lore shouldn't be used as an excuse at all, because what counts is the impression something makes, if Victor (or a different character) looks like a child and walks like a child, people recognize it as a child regardless of lore and Intention.
I think it's a good point, but in this case not even the lore is supporting their argument imo.
In general I think we agree that there are issues with this Chapter and the Devs could have handled thinks better (like the beard that you suggested).
3 -
I don't have a problem with that, but if the government of the countries or will learn or see that you can kick or throw to the ground the character that looks very similiar to a BABY, then DBD might be banned in some countries.
Remember Silent Hill 1 orginal child monsters? They were banned in EU and Asia, because they were looking very similiar to a children, even though they were presented as the monsters.
7 -
I laughed to hard while reading this, exactly my thoughts I was wondering how long it would be till someone complained about it XD
2 -
I mean, for once the survivors get to fight back other than slamming pallets down on a killer. Also, why is your little sister watching you play? This game is a lot, there's people ripped open, hung on hooks, traps on their heads that yank their jaws open till it kills them, I mean Freddy's backstory isn't the most tasteful to a lot of people.
Look, I had bulimia when I was in high school, plague makes me kinda shudder especially when there's jokes about her having this eating disorder, but you know what? I like playing her, it feels like I'm taking the joke and making it feel better to myself. I understand not everyone can do that, but horror is designed to make you uncomfortable.
And this thing isn't a baby, it's a...deformed Gollum. Maybe the Devs will take this away before the chapter is released with this negative feedback on being able to stomp him, also this is not kicking a disabled person either, hillbilly is considered disabled and we drop pallets on him and blind him with flashlights. I am speaking as someone with disabilities here.

Australia is very strict apparently with games, there's a few games that got banned there, I'm surprised if dbd isn't already banned there.
3 -
I've shot so many in Dead Space II, i'm not gonna feel bad for kicking a NOT-baby in DbD.
17 -
Let me explain this so everyone knows that Victor is NOT a baby
Victor is a Siamese twin, meaning he is connected to Charlotte's body, due to Victor being deformed and dying in the lore, Victor looks like a baby, however every character in DBD is over the age of 18
6 -
But Billy doesn't die from stuns :(((
Maybe inside though π€6 -
Go away please.

I mean, the part where the woman has a chest cavity at all, and then she carries this thing around like a kangaroo, and then it looks like a sickly baby... the imagery definitely invokes the idea of mother and child, regardless of what the lore says. It's gross to look at, which I don't love, but I also feel like it's kind of uncomfortable to use visuals that make people think about child birth or fetuses or whatever when there's no artistic commentary about any of those ideas.
Like, there are probably people playing this game who've had a miscarriage before. Why not use a different visual design for the same mechanic?
5 -
Blame the cult they casted mori jn Victor. Can't stop him dying plus he respawns So Victor is a pure gamer don't worry

Pathetic
5 -
I was just pointing out at the inconsistency. I have no issues with the kicking as it is right now. I'm not going anywhere. Thanks for your concern.
4 -
You made me remember an upsetting memory where I never bead DS2 because my PS3 stopped saving and deleted my save
But honestly the babies-looking monsters in DS2 look JUST like Victor and I agree, I am not afraid to send that demonic hellspawn to outer space
2 -
Victor's design as a monster really isn't all that out there, and kicking him is a pretty tame way of killing him comparatively to what other methods have been shown with similar designs. His legs aren't broken, his arms aren't dislocated, his eyes aren't ripped out, all that happens is that he's punted and he crumples.
Also, you mentioned that your little sister was the one who thought Victor was a baby, depending on how little she is she may not even be old enough to play/watch dbd.
6 -
Holy ######### people be crazy LMAO!!
5 -
Oh don't get me wrong, I totally see your point. When I first saw the killer I assumed mother and child. But, it's a horror game so of course certain characters are going to be distrubing. That's the whole point of horror. To shock and disgust. I mean, look at Dead Space 2 from way back. That game had Necromorphic babies in the Nursery section of the game. There was also the Questline in The Witcher 3 involving the miscaried child of the Baron's wife who became a Botchling and Geralt performs a rite to transform it. It's something done for the shock factor, not to offend someone in any way. And if someone was to be offended, then my only advice would be to maybe step away from the game.

keep moving the goalposts itβll work eventually. π

Then don't kick him.

Playing devils advocate here, but by the rationale used here, is everyone also ok with anime characters who are drawn to resemble underage children being in graphic sexual situations because a little bit of text on the back of the book/dvd, or an occasional comment from a character, say that they are 200 years old despite looking 7?
4 -
dont like it dont play the game simple
2 -
I liked stomping the evil spawn babies (which are called 'The babies') in evil within, so I see no issue here kicking an 300 year old zombie baby

Why does this not have more likes? π

I don't think people are genuinely bothered by this. I think they are trolling.

One of the survivors from the silent hill chapter is under-aged, right?
