So, I think a "Repo! The Genetic Opera" season would be awesome. Zydrate comes in a little glass vial...

Update version 4: added add ons and adjusted power for balancing. If anyone would like to tell me what you think of the new version I would really appreciate it

-------------------------------------------------------

~Killer: Repo-Man~

Weapon: Long double scalpel

Height: Tall

Base Speed: 4.4 meters/second

Terror Radius: 32 meters

Mori: The repo man slices open the gut of the survivor and they fall backwards onto the ground, holding the wound. Repo man descends on the survivor and starts frantically removing guts until they find and carefully remove the liver and place it in a hazard container slung under his shoulder

Description: Tall man in red hazmat suit with blue glowing eyes

-Power: Legal Assassin-

Toggle ability - Surgeons eye:

Hold the power button to toggle surgeons eye. Hitting or picking up a survivor will toggle surgeons eyes off. While surgeons eye is active:

-You can not see generator auras, bloodpoint score events or loud noise notifications. Scratch marks disappear 5 seconds faster. Your terror radius is increased by 8 meters.

-You can see the status effect timers and auras of the survivors that are within your field of vision and within 32 meters. This effect persists for 4 seconds after line of sight is blocked.

-You break, vault, recover from stun and move 10% faster for each survivor that has their aura revealed by surgeons eye

(Surgeons eye notes: Toggling surgeons eye takes 2 seconds, during which the killer is slowed to 3.6 meters per second. Surgeons eye can not be used while carrying a survivor. When looking at survivors with surgeons eye, you see all status effect timers in a column on the left side of the screen. Multiple instances of the same status effect sit side by side)

Passive ability - Breach of Contract:

Dues timer: Each survivor has a dues timer that depletes over 20 seconds. The dues timer refills over 10 seconds when repairing or cleansing, and is paused when the exit gates are powered. When the dues timer depletes, the survivor gets a missed payment.

Missed payment: Missed payments have a max of 3 stacks. All missed payment are cleansed when you are hooked. One missed payment is removed when survivors repair a generator or cleanse a totem. Survivors with maximum missed payments are exposed and oblivious when they go more than 15 seconds without repairing or cleansing

-------------------------------------------------------

~Power add ons~

-Common (brown)-

Liver repossession: "Liver? I hardly know her!" Were the clients last words according to his file. Reduces the amount of time survivors with maximum missed payments can go without repairing or cleansing before they suffer from exposed and oblivious by 2 seconds

Anticoagulate coating: A liquid coating to Repo mans scalpel that increases Survivors bleeding. Survivors struck while under the effect of surgeons eye suffer from the hemmorage status effect for 45 seconds

GeneCo lenses: Making due with the standard issue equipment is at least reliable. When a survivor under the effects of surgeons eye is blocked from the killers view, the aura reading duration is increased by 1 second

Furloughed payment: Pushing back the survivors final dus date (with a permanent increase in interest) is sometimes the more lucrative call. Survivors max missed payments is increased by 2. Healthy survivors scream when they miss a payment outside of the killers terror radius. 100% bonus blood points in the hunter category.

-Uncommon (yellow)-

Firm Deadline: Sometimes the terms are more stringent if the client doesn't bring a lawyer Reduces the dues timer by 2 seconds. All survivors dues timers fill up 2 seconds faster when repairing or cleansing. Does not stack.

Stomach repossession: "The guilt of these missed payments really give me a stomach ache. Here, I'd like to return this please" Reduces the amount of time survivors with maximum missed payments can go without repairing or cleansing before they suffer from exposed and oblivious by 4 seconds

Tranquilizer coating: A drug coating on the blade to ensure survivors can't make any sudden movements. Survivors struck while under the effect of surgeons eye suffer from exhausted for 45 seconds

High clarity lenses: Nathan has taken special care with these goggles to ensure their high visibility. When a survivor under the effects of surgeons eye is blocked from the killers view, the aura reading duration is increased by 2 seconds

Marni's photo: A blood stained photo of Marni, Nathan's deceased wife. He always keeps it on him to remind himself why he does his work. Increases the vault, break, and stun recovery speed bonuses from surgeons eye by 3%

-Rare (green)-

Mistyped deadline: Sometimes an "understandable typo" doesn't get noticed and that can really come out in our favor. Reduces the dues timer by 4 seconds. All survivors dues timers fill up 2 seconds faster when repairing or cleansing. Does not stack.

Lung repossession: "Even breathing is hard when that's what is going to get you killed." Reduces the amount of time survivors with maximum missed payments can go without repairing or cleansing before they suffer from exposed and oblivious by 6 seconds

Psychedelic coating: A drug coating applied to the survivor that renders them unaware of their injuries and impossible to treat. Survivors hit while under the effect of surgeons eye suffer from the broken statis effect for 45 seconds

Heat vision lenses: The highest quality lenses for Nathan's hazmat suit that GenCo executives could offer. When a survivor under the effects of surgeons eye is blocked from the killers view, the aura reading duration is increased by 3 seconds

Marni's wedding ring: The memory of removing his dead wife's ring from her lifeless fingers fills Nathan with focus, rage, and determination. Increases the vault, break, and stun recovery speed bonuses from surgeons eye by 6%

-Very rare (purple)-

Modified deadline: Its not exactly legal to sign for your clients, but as long as they don't ever get the chance to talk to a lawyer... Reduces the dues timer by 6 seconds. All survivors dues timers fill up 2 seconds faster when repairing or cleansing. Does not stack.

Heart repossession: "When your heartbeat is on lease, there's no going to the police." Reduces the amount of time survivors with maximum missed payments can go without repairing or cleansing before they suffer from exposed and oblivious by 9 seconds

Blended coating: A shimmering black cocktail of all Nathan's favorite prescriptions. Survivors hit while under the effect of surgeons eye suffer from hemmorage, exhausted and broken for 45 seconds

Loophole addendum: In certain situations, it is possible to create a loophole allowing for early repossession of the leased property. Missed payments maximum stacks is reduced by 1. All survivors dues timers fill up 5 seconds faster when repairing or cleansing.

-Ultra rare (red)-

Rotti's orders: A signed letter from Rotti Largo, voiding the targets contract and calling for immediate repossession. survivors under the effect of surgeons eye are exposed and oblivious. Removes the breach of contract power and the movement speed boost from surgeons eye.

Spare organs: A bag of spare organs leftover from previous repossessions that Nathan can fall back on if he fails to reclaim the asset. After hitting a survivor with a basic attack while surgeons eyes is active, the killer can see generator progression based on aura strength for 30 seconds or until surgeons eye is turned back on.

-------------------------------------------------------

-Killer perks-

Let the monster rise:

"Have I failed my daughter?

Then let the father die!

And let the monster rise!" ~Nathan

Wallace

If a survivor vaults or drops a pallet within 8/12/16 meters of you, you get a monster token. Once you have 6 monster tokens, enter an enraged state for 20/30/40 seconds. When enraged, you can't gain monster tokens. Break actions will consume 2 monster tokens to preform the action 50% faster. All tokens are consumed when the enraged state ends

Thankless Job:

"...but somebody's got to do it! (Got to do it)" ~RepoMan

while carrying a survivor, you move 6%/8%/10% faster if another survivor is within your terror radius. You can see the aura of any survivors that leaves your terror radius until they re-enter your terror radius, or 3/4/5 seconds after you drop or hook the survivor

Night Surgeon:

"CAUSE THE CLAIMS MEDIC GIVES

NO ANESTHETIC!

90-DAYS DELINQUENT GETS YOU

REPO TREATMENT!

I’M THE MASKED HORROR ON

YOUR STREET CORNER

MAKE YOUR MOMMA MOURN YOU"

~RepoMan

When hooking a survivor, any survivors within your terror radius are aura blind and hindered by 10% for 10/15/20 seconds

-------------------------------------------------------

~Survivor 1: GraveRobber~

-GraveRobber Perks-

Zydrate Vial:

"...and a little help comes in a little glass vial in a gun pressed against your anatomy" ~ Grave Robber

When healing another survivor without a medkit while you are injured, you get a very difficult skillcheck. No penalty if failed. If successful, you are both healed but he killer can see your auras and you both suffer from the exposed status effect for 40/35/30 seconds. This can only be done sucessfully once per game

Eye witness:

"I'll keep those vultures guessing" ~Rotti Largo

When another survivor is put into a dying state within 8/12/16 meters of you, your vaults while running are automatically fast and you don't make loud noise notifications or scream for 20 seconds. This had a 90/75/60 second cool down

Sub-Market:

"Sometimes I wonder why they need me at all" ~ Grave Robber

when any survivor is getting items out of the basement chests while you are in the basement, the item is automatically ultra-rare with rare/very-rare/ultra-rare add ons. When an item obtained via sub market leaves the basement, the killer gets a loud noise notification if they are within 128/96/64 meters and their aura can't be seen by anyone for 30 seconds

-------------------------------------------------------

~Survivor 2: Shilo Wallace~

-Perks-

Sympathetic killer:

"Daddy's girls a f*ckin monster" ~Shilo Wallace

when a killer carries a survivor, they move 2%/4%/6% slower if you are within the terror radius. When you leave the killers terror radius while he is carrying a survivor, you heal, cleanse and repair generators 15% faster until 4/6/8 seconds after the survivor is hooked or dropped

Blood Condition:

"'I must be protective

You cannot be reckless'

That's what is expected, when you are

infected" ~Shilo Wallace

When injured, you bleed slightly more frequently (stacks with sloppy butcher). If you preform a fast vault or leave a locker in a sprint, there is no loud noise notification. You stop bleeding and your moans of pain are silenced 6/8/10 seconds. This can not be done again until you are fully healed

Genetics:

"What hope has a girl who is sick?

What dream of a life past this fence

It really makes no difference

'cause I know that I'll never be fixed!"

~Shilo Wallace

If the killer is able to see the aura of another survivor within 24/32/40 meters of you, you see it in blue as

well

-------------------------------------------------------

I would love to hear the communities thoughts on this season idea. If you feel anything is unbalanced, im happy to discuss the best changes for it

So, risking a self bump here, but do people at least like the idea? Or is the "horror musical" genera not scary enough for DBD fans?

Anybody like this idea? (I'm coming back to copy and paste from here bit thought I'd give it another chance to share)

I love the movie and love the idea of bringing it into the fog. I feel like some of these perks are a bit unbalanced though, like Anatomy and Things you see would be very abusable on the survivor side, also the idea of survivors gaining tokens that hinder them is too complicated. I'm not sure what the mechanics/perks should be though

I feel ya, glad there's another fan out there!

For things you see, maybe removing quick and quiet and reducing the time and trigger distance would help balance?

For anatomy, we could increase the duration of the downside, because its supposed to be a high risk, high reward perk. You get to quickly heal both survs, but then the killer knows where you are and can instant down both parties. You think maybe increasing the duration to 30-45 seconds would be more feasible?

Yeah, i know the killers power is complicated, but i was trying to do something that wasn't a simple movement or stealth power. Maybe instead of multiple debt tokens, you hear get an "in debt" status effect that does certain things when the killer is looking at them with surgeons eyes? I want to keep it similar because I like the idea of a killer that has a power that gets stronger the longer you're in a chase or the longer you pressure survivors away from gens. We don't have anything that gives bonuses for getting bloodlust and i think that would be a fresh new mechanic

What don't you like about it? The theme, killer power, or perks?

    The source material.

I've had the misfortune of watching it when it came out, I was just out of high school, 2008 I think. And it was horrible on both musical and cinematographic levels. Stylistically, and I will be blunt here, it is 100% pure concentrated, refined cringe.

Which is a shame, because I really like the body horror aspects of organ confiscation themes, and would probably really enjoy a good ribofunk rendition. Subject matter, though, is not it. There is a similarly titled movie with Jude Law (i'm not sure if it is the one you refer to above as remake, if yes then you're wrong - it has nothing to do in origins with subj), and similar themes are tastefully, if briely, touched upon in Lexx.

Still, the way these themes are dealt in subj, as well as the whole of filmmaking, is on writing levels of a middleschooler on ritalin overdose. I don't want any element of it in a game, that I still somewhat (arguably) enjoy.

Well I know the jude movie wasn't an actual remake, I probably should have said theme ripoff.

Well im sorry you're not a fan, but nothing wrong with a little difference of opinion. I know some aspects of it are a bit campy, but I think its an absolute cult classic with a very "Rocky Horror Picture Show" meets "Dark city" and "the crow" feel. Very interesting characters, most of the music was on point, very strong political statement about corporations controlling the government, no love interest BS, strong character development throughout.

But I digress, its totally fine that you don't like it, we all have our differences. Most people would probably cuss me out if I admited I thought the godfather was boring.

So, here we are. I've seen all 3 your concept as you asked, but since i feel that it would not be fair to all other creators to bump up all your discussions with my comments, i've decided to focus my suggestions for all three under the best one. Repo! The Genetic Opera is undoubtedly your best concept.

The power is outstanding, it is really, really cool. i have only one critic for it: why the killer would toggle off the surgeon eyes? it has no negative side if the survivors in range have tokens on. Also you are really into buffs to bloodlust. Bloodlust is a really small buff by itself and still can be too strong but for activating it you need to spend too much time running behind a survivor. Impossible to balance, if you spend too much time you risk to lose your game to activate half of your power, if you are too efficient, is basically gameover for the survs without margin of comeback. My suggestion for Surgeon Eyes: Repo is slown down when it is toggled on by 10%(0,4m/s). Healthy survivors caught by Surgeon Eyes get X Status Effect, Injured get X status effect, Exhausted get Blindness status effect. Status effect active for something like...humm 25 seconds? something down those lines. Get rid of the scaling tokens on Surgeon Eyes, they overcomplicate it. A couple of suggestions for the power in general:

    • People already suggested you to change the token on survivor mechanic. Super quick to do. Transform Missed Payment into a status effect that fires up over time. Done! problem solved.
    • Buff Missed Payments: Survs can get rid of it too quickly. nerf their ability to cleanse it. Maybe they should not lose it when hit. Suggestion: they can cleanse it totally only by getting hooked, but they can slow down the timer by doing a set of action of your choice, like searching in chest.
    • Buff it more! gen progression malus is not enough really. Maybe at max Missed Payments they should get an additional malus.

That's it, not much more to say about the power. Rework Surgeon Eyes and buff Missed Payments.

Perks - Suggestions. Perks are pretty good, most of them just need a small buff, nerf or a small quality of life change.

    • Let The Monster Rise: You lose the token only after performing the damage action empowered by this perk
    • Thankless Job: the timer of persisting auras should be 3 seconds baseline, instead of 0/1/2
    • Night Surgeon: maybe the scream is a little too much. Something less revealing? Good in general.
    • Anathomy: absolutely broken. Needs a big nerf, maybe a rework. Failed skill checks completely avoided, with no cooldown of usage. The malus are too weak and the heal too strong.
    • Things You See: No. This one cannot be saved.
    • Sub-Market: Nearly Perfect. The delayed cue for the killer can sell off the direction you are following too bad. Maybe is better a scaling down range for the cue.
    • Sympathetic Killer: Cool but needs a nerf. Nerf the slow effect on the killer and you should be the only one that affects the killer with the perk.
    • Blood Condition: Perfect.
    • Genetics: nothing to say, cool 2 swf simple tool.

You captured the soul of this movie really well in this concept. I like it a lot. Thumbs up. i would buy it.

Now. Some words for your other concepts.

Jason: You told me it didn't get much following. easily explained: everyone made a Jason concept. the community is now saturated. Plus, it focuses heavily on buffing bloodlust, and that's the one thing in dbd that's best not to touch. Jason and Bloodlust hardly interest now as themes. It's not your fault, it's just their condition right now. also, you posted that concept in the wrong place. It is in general discussions and not in creations. There nothing you can do for it, it is not salvageable, except "Relentless". Relentless is a good perk.

Voldemort & Survs: Those characters are so powerful that are not possible to properly adapt to dbd. Even their fantasy doesn't fit. Just my opinion. But it got a good following! It is big, simple, complete. Good Job! It can stand by itself with the suggestions others already gave. I'll now provide you my take on some aspect of it:

    • Voldemort's power is weak. Super weak. Those are basically two green perks that can be interrupted by survivors. Maybe you want to rethink it.
    • The Protecto perk is a death wish in form of a perk. it doesn't work.

If you want to follow an advice: Take the snake m1 attack, The curse of terror perk (your best perk, chef kiss! i love it, my favorite thing in all your concepts. maybe change the scream and multiple explosions with killer instinct), Uncanny Search perk, Jason's Relentless perk, Invisibility cloak perk and the wardrobe (transformed into a perk) and use them in a completely Original Concept. If those are all you ideas, they must shine by themselves. They are so good that i think that are wasted on voldemort and harry potter ideas. SO GOOD.

I hope that this helped you!

love the changes. 1 small thing though, I feel like the killer power is a bit complicated and, as a passive ability, is going to make him feel like a basic M1 killer. I'm thinking something like either:

Legal Assassin: "For many years ago, we all fell in debt" When in striking distance of an indebted survivor press M2 to perform a basic attack with no cool down and does not trigger the injured speed boost, allowing for an immediate second basic attack. For every 20 seconds that a survivor is not in the killers terror radius and not cleansing a totem, powering a generator, searching a chest, or healing/being healed they gain a debt. These 20 seconds do not need to be consecutive. Whenever 20 consecutive seconds pass that a survivor has not met those conditions then their aura will be revealed to the killer for 3 seconds.

or same debt mechanic as above but:

Legal Assassin: When a survivor goes into debt in the trial receive a notification and a direction indicator. Pressing M2 will activate the Assassin mode, granting the undetectabl status. when in Assassin mode your basic attack has no cool down, but immediately ends Assassin mode

So basically you can double tap survivors with the power, and survivors that aren't contributing to match progress are easy to spot. This is playing on "Legal Assassin" implying no penalty to performing the job and dead beats being brought to the killers attention. I would also do away with the Debt-X-Change

Of course any mechanic that punishes not working to progress the trial is going to mean this killer will get gen rushed a lot

The Perks are perfect, PTB-Able. Really Nice Job.

Except for Let The Monster Rise. it is too weak and that 90 second cooldown is not really useful. Having to collect the tokens is already a cooldown. No killer would be able to make the survs drops other 5 pallets in less then 90 seconds. I think every token should let you do an empowered action, but the killer cannot collect new token until the current 5 tokens are consumed. What you think about this? as it is now you are gonna do only one action during the whole match, two times at best.

But again, all the other perks are masterful. GG.

The power is too crowded. the x-change thing is not really needed and it doesn't really make sense lore wise. The fog dimension is rigged, i don't think the entity would let the repoman accept payments in objects.

Now, Missed Payments is absolutely busted. Is so crowded that a survivor would rot away in the first 10 seconds as afflicted. No killer status effect is so strong. The closest one is Freddy's Dream World that only inflicts a nerfed Oblivious status effect, makes the surv influenceable by the power and activates the clock minigame. Look at how many thing get activated by Missed Payments. Oblivious, Hindered (20%!?), Exposed, if surgeon eye is active they get MORE Hindered and Exhausted, they cannot fast vault and enter lockers quickly. They also cannot escape at all, and must lose time at the x-change. This is unwinnable.

    Let's make some order:

No one can fully block hatch and the exit gate lever, is a fundamental rule of dbd. The x-change is not needed. Only one hindered status source is enough. The pallet miss that gives exposed and the impossibility to vault and enter lockers quick are not justified at all. Also see more status effect in the bottom of the screen in nearly of no use and at this point even exhaustion status is not that well justified.

I think that yes, the Surgeon eyes should cause something like the broken status. Missing payment should inflict a secondary status like oblivious OR blindness to symbolize the fact that the victim does not expect a visit from the repoman.

Return to the old power and look at this list to get some idea about what is best to avoid. This need a lot of work.

Man this sucks. Its definately less complicated than before, and i want to make it straightforward but not boring. And the 20% slowdown is when not in a chase, but I guess its possible for that to stack with surgeons eyes if you're far enough away to start a technical chase. I'll.think about how to rework it, but I can't go back to the original, I don't have it saved anywhere.

There's one thing you can do. I do this myself frequently during the writing of a concept.

Look at the in-game text columns of the killers's powers. Find the longest one (Doctor/Freddy) and search that killer on the dbd wiki. Copy that killer's power from there and your killer's power in a comment text box here or the text box of a new discussion. If your killer's power is longer, probably your killer is too complex. After this research, try to find the most similar killer to yours (It think is Freddy) and count in how many parts that power is divided and how many bonus and malus inflicts. If your power has more parts or one or more of those parts activate too many things, you probably will have to cut something.

    I hope this will help.

Edit: And save your work! Even if it doesn't seem, this is still writing, and writing is art. Is always good to be able to look back and see what you left behind. It is also useful, of course! I've also checked the lenght of your power in comparison of the doctor's. Your power is slightly longer. Remember that mine are just suggestion. If you like the power as it is, leave it there :) Probably i'm wrong.

No, you have good points, and that comparative thing is a good suggestion. I really appreciate the help, sherpa Drae lol. The biggest thing I disagree with you on is the status effects display being useless. How many times have you thought "I wonder if their exhaustion perk is usable yet?" or "do they have endurance?" in a crunch, plus its especially helpful for the repo man because he needs to know if his target has missed payment or not. Reworking it a bit now. I feel like its becoming boring, but oh well. Lol. Ill update ya soon

What do you think of this instead?

Power: Legal Assassin - all survivors have a debt meter that goes up when they are not repairing a generator or cleansing a totem. The debt meter goes down at twice the rate when repairing or clensing. The debt meter fills after 40 seconds, giving you the "missed payment" status effect.

Missed payment: You are exposed and oblivious if you go more than 10 seconds without repairing or cleansing (can quick tap a gen or totem to reset).

Missed payment is cleansed when you are hooked, when you unhook another survivor, or when you heal a survivor in the dying state.

Toggle ability - surgeons eyes: hold the power button for 2 seconds (slowing you to 4 meters/second while transitioning) to toggle surgeons eyes which gives various effects when the killer is looking at survivor within 32 meters. You can not use Surgeons eyes while carrying a survivor. Surgeons eyes effects persist for 4 seconds after line of sight is broken.

-You move at 107.5% and you can see the status effects, item charge and auras of the survivors you are looking at. Blood is slightly more discernable.

-If any survivors highlighted by surgeons eyes have the missed payment status, they are hindered (10%)

Notes: when looking at survivors with surgeons eyes, you see all their status effects and item charge in a column above the players health state indicator.

Cult classic in a universe where humans organs start failing regularly and a company named Gene Co developed the ability to grow organs. The purchase of these organs was very expensive and many people couldn't afford to buy it outright. Then they buy off our politicians to make it legal for the organs to be repossessed so they can put people in payment plans. Its a horror musical that follows the organ repo man and his daughter as she discovers the truth about her father and the story of her mothers passing.
