DC bans are really bad for this game
So I was in a match with a cheater using speed hacks and he was downing everyone and not hooking them. My team was too afraid to come heal me when I was down so I just DC'd cause what's the fun in waiting until I bleed out. The whole point is to have fun. How come I get banned from scenarios like that? This game practically encourages toxic behavior.

Every multiplayer game has DC bans. Every multiplayer game has cheaters. What makes this one so different?

Because that’s an extremely rare scenario

I mean honestly. I feel like there are way too many ways to hold the game hostage for a dc penalty. Why should I be punished if I don't want to wait until egc comes after being locked in a corner. Of course there are plenty of people who just dc for no reason but I still think the punishment is a tad much. Maybe just leave the timer at a static 5 with no increase? Or add better ways to deal with game hostage situations and keep the penalty as is.

As others have said, its 5 minutes. I have DC'ed a couple times, when being trolled really badly. I'll be so annoyed for a few minutes anyway, but these trolls I need a moment to relax. This game gets too full of people like that, then there is a different problem.
A person has to DC a LOT to really get a meaniful delay between games.
It is absurd how common DC's occur when the penalty is turned off.

This penalty is only really applicable to killers who have to suffer through unbearable groups that offer Ormond. It's 100% useless against survivors that suicide on first hook. And no, the extra points from hooking don't make games any more enjoyable as a killer or survivor if one quits right off the bat. The gain is ultimately marginal as I miss out on chase, brutality and hook points in the long run.
Right now all it does is penalize killers, which I think should be the ones capable of deciding if they've had enough of the game. Especially more inexperienced ones forced to get bullied by survivors who play this game /way/ too much.
I'd suggest giving the possibility for killers to concede a match after X amount of time or X amount has been done in the game. No penalty, survivors get their escape points and emblem, everyone's back to queues. Some survivors will be angry that they can't loop forever killers that have a considerable skill gap, but I don't think we should cater to these types anyway.
