What is the point bring DS as surv??
I started bring DS as surv but don't see any profit from use it, cuz I die last or killer just slug me and don't picking up so this making my DS useless as far as possible??? I don't know, this game is so broken

It allows you to live 60 seconds longer.

You won’t get to use it every game, if you’d prefer to run a perk that is more consistent then do that. But DS prevents you from being hooked back to back, which can be the difference between escaping and dying. If you don’t like being slugged after being unhooked then you can run Unbreakable as well.
15 -
The thing is,even if you don't get to use DS you get value out of it,because you guarantee an obsession which on the other hand forces the killer to assume everyone has DS and makes tunneling overall less likely
12 -
I know but how it can help when I got slugged and left on the flor for exactly 60 seconds just in case I have DS
1 -
It's value comes from the fact that the killer knows someone has it. Could be 1 player. Could be 4. If they really are desperate to get 1 player out of the game because they're struggling then they have to risk the stun. Honestly, I think there should be an obssession with no perks in play.
8 -
You don’t get help. If you are in a survive with friends team, you must call out for help. Otherwise bring Unbreakable+tenacity/Soul guard and get yourself up. If you are playing with randoms go get a snack because you are dead.

Yo need ub too. That’s all

You don't need to actually use DS for it to be effective, just the idea of it existing in the trial is enough to work as a deterrent from killers tunnelin you off the hook. That's why it's so important that at least one player in the trial is using at least one obsession perk.
The devs need to make it so that there's always an obsession even when no one is using an obsession perk, then survivors won' be forced to run DS every game anymore and the meta can have more variety.

Even when im not obsession I still got slugged and not picked up
0 -
Run unbreakable and DS then.
1 -
But you don't actually get tunneled which gives your teammates enough time to pick you up or yourself if you have unbreakable
1 -
It definitely depends on how the killer reacts/interacts with you as survivor. DS can get unused most matches if the killers play in such a way that you wont be able to use it. Which then results into a "wasted" perk slot. You will never know who you are up against and what their playstyle is gonna be.
(kinda similar how it sometimes is for me with Calm Spirit. The moment I take it off I play against a Doctor or an Oni with IF) 😅
If you feel like DS is not working out, either it be because of playstyle or the type of killer you are playing against at that moment, you might wanna switch it out for something else. Or synergize by equipping Tenacity and/or Unbreakable etc to help you counter slugging.

I might get some heat for this but the amount of killers who will just tunnel with impunity off the hook when there's no obssession, even if it means letting gens pop and getting 1K maybe 2 is shockingly high, even in red ranks. I don't know why they do it tbh. I find camping/patrolling to be incredibly boring. I'm talking seeing killers with well over 1 to 2 thousand hours on their steam account playing this way. The excuse is "its the most effective strategy" but thats only ever been true to me if the killer has gone out of their way to already throw the game for the kill. Made sense to me in the old Commodius toolbox or BNP days. But when you're doing that with Ruin and Undying active I begin to question why you're playing this and not Friday the 13th with its instant grab kills.
3 -
Agree, or rework DS to be more useful but not like now
0 -
I'd wait until you begin getting higher tier teammates or red ranks before I'd go about saying its weak. There's a reason DS has been controversial in DBD since it was added years ago.
1 -
I'm already red rank lol and DS works for me only in 25% rest of them I die last on my first hook or just get slugged and left on ground
0 -
That sounds more like a teammate problem then.
You're experiencing firsthand why so many people play SWF. Can't blame them. Solo is hell. I'm thinking of finding some SWF buddies as I used to play it with friends a lot a few years back but they all moved on. Might be time to find some more.
1 -
It's just insurance to guarantee the killer gets punished for playing in a scummy way. 9/10 times you won't get to use it unless you're actively throwing yourself at the killer.
0 -
It helps perlong the chase against a tunneler.
It's not effective against a good killer who wants to 3vs1, and I hope the DS rework will punish hard tunnelers even more.
1 -
I couldn't tell you; I don't run it. I did briefly but found I didn't get a reliable enough return on it. Some people swear by it and there are some SWF that have it always as part of their combo. I can tell you as a Killer I just have a little timer on my desk and I hit it the second the person becomes unhooked so I know when I can pick them up again. :)
It is far better to have reliable teammates (Solo or SWF) than it is to have that Perk in my humble opinion.

I have my own gripes about DS but in all fairness when used on its own I think it is mostly 'fine'. The main problem is that certain perk combinations. DS/Unbreakable, DS/Deliverance, etc can be overwhelmingly strong in certian situations. And when you multiply that by 4 you have a terrifying amount of utility and time wastage between the survivors.

Why Not just pick them up and eat it? At least in early game, I prefer to just eat it and get it out of the way.
Ofcourse as a Spirit main, I'm just going catch em again in 6 seconds, I could see slugging on slower killers tho.
0 -
I do it eat it if it is early game. I try to trigger it as fast as possible. I'd much rather have that stun when it is no worse than any Pallet or Blind if I can. However, if it is at a point where it could cause me stress, and I don't have to pick the person up, why would I? I just set the timer.

I respect all you had to say, just a small note: “Reliable teammates” and “Solo” are mutually exclusive. You can’t have both in the same equation.
0 -
Depends entirely on what killer you are. A 4 second headstart against a Clown who used 3 of his 4 bottles in that chase, or a Myers who just ran out of Evil Within, or a Hag who just had several of her nearby traps popped in that chase could be catastrophic and potentially game ending.
But would mean little against a Spirit or Nurse or Trapper whose set up an area the survivor runs towards.
2 -
I like to see these posts of Spirit players who openly admit Spirit will catch you in 6 seconds regardless of the skill or ability of those in play. It -is- a great and balanced killer indeed.
It’s still true though, well said.
3 -
i just got tunneled and used DS and the killer had to use 5 gens to kill just me.
the perk prevents the killer from just going for you or at least hinders it which buys time for you and your team.
0 -
I got this from Otz but if you ever want to know what killer you're against, just wait for the first hit on a teammate and count the seconds out loud. Less than 10? Spirit.
2 -
I confess there are a lot of killers that just go after one person throughout the entire match and that is why DS exists. However there are also times when the killer is doing extremely well and DS punishes them even if they weren't tunneling. There have been a few rare moments when I hooked someone. Downed and hooked 2 other people. Came back to the first person by chance and they still had DS.
0 -
Well... I don't know that I would go this far. I play Survivor too and 3/4 of my games are in the Solo Que. My friends and I don't synch up as often as we would like. While I have gotten the odd, terrible teammates, for the most part I find that other Solos know what they are doing and can work very well. I wouldn't say they are mutually exclusive. I would say you just have to have realistic expectations and communicate well with animations.

Oh you're preaching to the choir there. The amount of matches that I've lost or come close to losing from a commanding lead, just because someone I hooked, hooked someone else, and then downed again then DS'd me and got a BT unhook or something, is staggering.
When I bring this up I've been called a "bad killer" for literally doing too well. DS isn't anti tunnel. It's anti-momentum. I wish it were a truly anti-tunnel perk.
1 -
Are you complaining that the second chance perk that only gives a second chance when getting tunneled isn't giving you a second chance
0 -
You said it yourself. "He slugs me" aka he slugs you but dont hook you, which means you are still in the game. So recover and get these gen pressure going
0 -
Lol, did you read post or just posing yourself as exactly that toxic killer who abuse gameplay??? xD
0 -
Slug, and wait for 60 seconds on me so no chance to use DS
0 -
No, that totally makes sense. I was just curious if that was standard strategy or situational.
0 -
Idk about regardless of skill. I couldn't have done that with her when I first started playing her.
But I have mained her since she came out when everyone said she was trash, so I feel quite competent with her now.
0 -
It puts the killer in lose/lose situations, so allow me to flip your question on its head: what is the point of NOT running DS?
0 -
Ds is strong not because you can use it, just because is a threat that the killer has to play around it just because existing. if u didnt bring it to the game and nobody btw you will get tunneled out of hook, so even by just having the perk equipped is ALREADY giving you and edge. btw you may still get tunneled if u got farmed becasue the killer wont ignore an easy down in front of him, not his fault, dumbo survivors fault but still he might not pick you up thats why lots of people use unbrekable aswell if u dont pick me up, i will myself or sould guard but this one is a little bit more tricky because if the killer has no hex perks you wont be able to pick u up by yourself.
0 -
Did you read the issue??? Lol it's kinda useless in my opinion cuz killer slug and never pick me up for 60 seconds
0 -
I read the post, and my response was
Are you complaining that the second chance perk that only gives a second chance when getting tunneled isn't giving you a second chance
because as it seems they were playing around your second chance by slugging or going after you last
0 -
Im not complaining but saying that second chance perk is not get re greeted by killers they dont picking up survs and this making me feel that its waste of space perk for me lol
0 -
I can't read this
0 -
I would say in low ranks it is not worth it.
0 -
OoO seems to be fun on its own. try kindred with it.
0 -
Its only good if you bring it with unbreakable and abuse the 60second timer. Otherwise solo its pretty meh but it a perk to discourage killers rather than something you use ever game
1 -
Oh, sorry that English is not my main language otherwise buy glasses

Capabilities of DS:
-Helps against tunneling
-Brings the killer's momentum to a screeching halt
-Forces the killer to slug, which in itself can be countered by unbreakable
-The sheer possibility of you having it can make the killer not want to chase you
-Going into a locker can turn a dire situation into one that can be responsible for you winning the game
0 -
Not always work
0 -
Stop making excuses.
-DS will ALWAYS help against tunneling, unless you're going against a Phead who doesn't know how cages work.
-DS is pretty much designed around stopping momentum which something it does well, especially in the endgame.
-DS and Unbreakable literally and actually has no counters
-Maybe the killer won't be the brightest, or maybe they'll take a chance and hope you don't have DS. But you can't deny that it happens sometimes. I myself drop a lot of chases just so I don't risk a DS stun.
-The locker thing has no counters.
