How to counter: Leatherface
Hey all,
Could someone please explain what leatherface's abilities are and strategies to counter them?
Thanks!

If you play with him, you will know how to counter his power better than anyone can explain.
But the counters are tight corners and vaults, basically

Bubba charges his chainsaw and goes into a sweeping dash. He can use up to 2 charges to extend the length of this dash. Your 1 hit down when he's doing this.
Counters are:
Tight corners are amazing against him.
He struggles against strong loops with windows. If he can block the window with bamboozle you just need to drop the pallet.
Sprint burst helps but you can't reach a loop he will down you.
Always work on separate gens. Means he can't down multiple people with one chainsaw.
Avoid basement.

Depends, the most useful things against him are windows and tight corners, playing save is also good, so dropping pallets early isn't a bad thing.
You can still loop him, so if he's not breathing on your back you can probably do a few loops before dropping pallets.
Edit: One more thing you can try, it's kinda hard to pull off, but you can try stunning him mid-chainsaw sprint, it depends on your and the Killer's connection tho, there are 3 outcomes, you don't stun him and he breaks the pallet, you stun him but he also kills you through the pallet or you successfully stun him and end his chainsaw sprint.

Go to the killer player's house, and rip off his M2 button, otherwise every time he presses it someone goes down.

If he revs his chainsaw and there is no pallet in sight, look for trees and run around it thightly.
It also helps when you do that to suddenly run to a different tree.
As soon as you hear him hitting the tree, you just run away, far away 😉
If he's already using his chainsaw behind you and you can't find a tree and the pallet is just to far away, jump in a locker if they are close.
Just make sure if he made his last swing you jump out immediately, otherwise he just grabs you out.
Than run towards the pallet, and continue the chase.
If there is not a locker close, run very thightly against the wall and around the corners.
Than just hope he hits the wall and you can escape.
And like nos said, using vaults.
Worst thing that can happen is that he hits you with his hammer, which gives you a free sprint burst.
Whatever you do, don't try to juke him in the open.
If you're lucky enough, you get away with it once.
That's about it

become skilled at looping

The number of mid-swing stuns I got in my recent games was really baffling, so that's really an option if you are confident in your timing.
Another particular stupid "defense" is running below low hanging obstacles like branches of trees. It's so aggrevating that bubba gets stuck on these while swinging when he could just bump his head on them >:-(

Same as billy really. Don't get caught in a dead zone. Use windows when you can. Don't panic waste pallets as that'll make later chases even tougher.

Pretty much this.
It’s thrilling isn’t it. Another killer against which your input doesn’t matter.

There are 1 or 2 killers in DBD that do truly feel "uncounterable". Leatherface most certainly isn't one of them.
0 -
Definitely can be. Leatherface will be counterable as long as you have a pallet close (one-time use, what happens 90% of the time is that has already been used within 10 seconds of the match starting) or if you get a really strong window. And most of them use Bamboozle and have learnt to chainsaw around corners anyway.
So yes, virtually uncounterable.

It depends. If it's a stock leatherface without chili, then loop as usual.
If it's a bamboozle leatherface with purple chili? Throw every pallet early and hide while inside his terror radius. Pray your team is genrushing.

This has been the trend for a while anyway. Holding killers’ hands all the way from finding survivors to downing them fast. Each new release and rework has been towards having a killer be as powerful as possible, preferably with no possible input from survivors (doesn’t matter how well or how poorly you play), and block some windows/spots so on top of that you have even less options.
And it should be the opposite : have more options, more windows, more pallets, more spots. Have killers be powerful but challenging to manage, everybody gets more potential for fun.
But no. Let’s cripple everybody.

Leatherface can still be looped and corner-teched so your input obviously does matter.
You can't expect to win if you have no idea how the game works.
Almost 3 minute chase and 4 man escape SOLO QUEUE at red ranks:
Corner-teching Leatherfaces even in the open field:
Leatherface is literally a killer that only catches you quickly if the Leatherface-player is better at the game than the survivor he faces.
If you go down quickly all the time it's a YOU problem. Leatherface is mechanically fair and balanced.

Nice pointless demonstration on how to loop a trash Bubba who never plays Bubba. He gets stuck on the easiest smoothest loops like the pile of cars. He respects pallets. He steps back when starting to rev the chainsaw.
Will you show me how you “loop a 20 hours wraith for 3 minutes” next?
Get out of here.

There's no point with this guy. Dude thinks THE ONI, a character that you can literally deny his power the entire match, is overpowered.

I'm sorry, that means nothing. A good leatherface is barely going to crash into things during the loops, and will be going around the loops fast enough they are going to notice you magically disappeared at the corner. I used to use the muffler but after some practice I can go around almost any loop in DBD without crashing.
Purple chili leatherface can go around almost every loop in the game I believe. The only counter is windows and you can bamboozle them.
This is like holding up someone doing a window tech (which literally never works on me) as a counter to a killer. All you can do is feed him pallets (and fast), and if you run out of pallets you are done.
I do purple chili + primer bulb and I think that's his best combo for general use.

These people play 2 rank 20 survivor matches a month and think they know how the game works. Then go to the forums and upload “hoW I GeT CHaZed bY cRaZY SPIRIT!!!!!! ALL GAME (rEd rAaanks)”
Then continue to play killer until next month, when they play a couple rank 17 matches again to upload a few more videos.

So a Bubba that plays perfectly shouldn't catch you! Gotcha! You got an interesting idea of balance!
Oh by the way the first Bubba didn't get stuck on the cars. The crane hitbox was what made him go into tantrum and it is INCREDIBLY easy to run into that invisible hitbox which is something you would know if YOU had ever played ANY killer on that loop.
That crane hitbox has been like that for several patches now so that tells me you literally don't play killer - AT ALL.
I can tell that other guy doesn't ever play killer. They don't even know about the invisible crane hitbox that sticks out on the corner.
If you made up your mind I'm not going to waste my time.

Oops my bad

Playing perfectly = not respecting every single pallet and getting stuck on a fresh breeze of air.
Your standards might be a bit too low. I suggest you try to take your David to rank 15 as a personally challenge next.

Well I'm on red ranks unlike you, the clip shows it as well and I never struggle against any particular killer so yeah maybe you should blame yourself if you get downed quickly all the time?

The last time I checked, purple chili + yellow chili was OVER a 32m dash in total. I got into make your choice range launching myself from a hook. That's more than enough to cover every single loop in DBD, only a super strong setup like jungle gym into shack or similar will make him loopable. I think double chili is overkill, which is why I like faster token recovery instead.
You can feed him pallets, that's it. Other than that its up to him being bad and crashing into a wall.

1. Everybody is on red ranks. Red ranks means you play the game more than 1 hour. It really isn’t a personal achievement to be red rank. I know your standards -are- that low but really, looping rank 20 killers isn’t a big thing.
I once played together with a Meg. Let’s call her Busibusi. Well, Busibusi spent all match crouching in a corner and made 12k escaping at the end of the match.
Busibusi was rank 1.
There are a lot of people who, just like you, shouldn’t be rank 1.
2. Say it with me : Keeping trash killers who get stuck on tires and respect pallets busy for a while doesn’t mean I can do anything against a player who actually knows what they’re doing. Thus your point is invalid and proves nothing.
Have a bit of decency. Don’t be a Busibusi.

You're obviously not a red rank player and if you are you don't belong there. Decent red rank survivors don't complain about killers that can't ignore basic mechanics like pallets and windows.
0 -
90% of red ranks don’t belong to red ranks. That is why people have always said the ranking system makes no sense in this game. Maybe you were busy with your monthly survivor match thinking you’re good because you looped a Tier1 Myers. Maybe you -are- Busibusi. I honestly don’t know anymore.
But yeah, most people who are red ranks shouldn’t be.

Given that I have yet to come across a Bubba not running Bamboozle, his counter is just to hold W at pallets and windows with no real thought about looping. Just vault and drop. If you've got nothing else, run right around an object, like a junk tile or tree. It's the equivalent of shaking your booty against Deathslinger, but it sometimes works.

Loop around tight corners, and go for vaults.
You actually CAN pallet stun him when he's using his chainsaw if you get the timing down.
