    Welcome to dead by teammates

You get shards by playing the game and leveling up your player level by playing games as Survivor or Killer

You can only get shards by playing. Doesn’t matter if you win or loose afaik.

Shards for the most part aren't really tied to how well you do. You get some XP fron emblems, but not a lot at all. It's more or less dependent on how long you spend in matches. Matches of 10 minutes plus normally get you the most XP and thus, the most shards.

That's what I've noticed, and I'm pretty sure Otz said something similar ones? Unless they changed it.

playing games, only thing that affects how quickly is amount of games and length of games, playing atleast 1 game of each side a day makes it go up quicker

@OllieHellhunter is right about playing each side once per day. You get a bonus 300xp each day for playing your first killer match and another 300xp for your first survivor match. It helps with getting shards as well as rift fragments.

You get shards through XP, play one game of killer and survivor per day and you'll get extra XP, for your first killer game of the day you get and additional 300XP and same for survivor too. I'd say on average you get about 500XP per game, unless you have a really fast game then you'll get about 400XP.

Edit: I only just saw that someone also mentioned the additional 300XP per day, oops 😂
