Removing Bloodlust will help weak Killers

As a Rank 1 Killer player, I believe that removing bloodlust will help the overall health of the Killer roster.

In my personal experience, stronger Killers like Spirit, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Freddy and Huntress rarely ever get in scenarios where bloodlust is needed to secure kills because their powers are strong enough that they usually come into play during chase.

While weaker Killers, like Legion, Ghost Face, Wraith, Trapper and Clown all frequently need to bloodlust to secure kills because their powers have more glaring gaps and weaknesses where they can’t help at loops.

Removing Bloodlust should be a great way for the Devs to collect data on the weaker Killers and start to prioritize reworks and buffs. Because the Killers that suffer with Bloodlust removed will become super obvious during the test and should rise to the top of their list if they want to balance the game with Bloodlust being removed in the future.

The amount of killer players I loop who end up hurting themselves in the long term by trying to bloodlust mindgame a pallet is crazy. a lot of them leave said pallet up hurting themselves more in the future. I think if bloodlust were to go the "should I break this" aspect would be gone which could help the less experienced killers.

Lol the calm before the storm of people complaining this weekend

Some perks benefit certain Killer or vice versa. The same to game mechanics (where Hag can protect her own mechanic - totems better than other Killers).

I agree with OP's title, Bloodlust mechanic never affect Nurse/Spirit performance. Mostly low tier Killers. Removal of Bloodlust will help Devs to see how much low tier Killers need Bloodlust, there for they can buff them up.

I think we all just need to accept the fact that this game has an obvious tier list, s-tier killers that dont need bloodlust dont use it, and lower tier characters that need it in certain situations. To act like they are going to gather data this weekend, that will eventually lead them to buffing the weaker killers, would eventually lead to a less developed tier list where everything is either nerfed or buffed to be even. In the devs minds having all the killers be B-tier would be a perfect world

If they (assume they have like...50 people?) play the game to test it by themselves. Then how they work on content?

If currently there are 20k people world wide playing the game. The results over the weekend is much reliable than 50 Devs.

One thing bloodlust makes obvious is when a map is either busted or the skill difference between the survivor and killer is too high. Bloodlust helps bring an eventual close to the chase which in my view is needed. I feel that Bloodlust is necessary it just needs to be reworked on how it operates and is obtained.

However yes I agree it would help identify issues with some killers although I feel that it's kind of blatant if you've played the game long enough.

Theoritically removing bloodlust should make difference in data, and suffering killer would be revealed by data...

but i don't believe devs are capable of doing it.

trapper remake, billy remake, spirit untouched... they proved they are very slow handed, and not even precise.

trapper, doing traps takes too much time without bag untouched.

billy, unlimited backsawing not even touched. only skillful 90' saw drastically nerfed.

spirit not touched, plague not touched even about BP

they are not capable of make good move from data, so ruining the game temporarily just for data doesn't seems rignt.

Yeah, yeah, sure, how about no.

I don't want to be unable to play against not potato survivors on m1 killers for years until devs finally collect enough data and determination to make slight changes.

    Freddy buffs took 1.5 year.

    Bubba buffs took ~2 years.

And so on. If devs were able to respond quickly, I'd like seeing bloodlust removed for data gathering, otherwise it's a waste of time and resources

Even if that's true, do you realize how long it will take them to actually do anything about those 'glaring' issues? Sure, if it helps them see problems, go for it. But actually implementing changes? We already know just how slow these devs are to do almost anything in this game. Unless it's spamming skins. Then they do that.

I feel like OP's premise is forgetting a thing:

We dont need to remove bloodlust to buff weaker killers.

Its like nerfing generator speed to validate buffing toolboxes.

Actually I don't think bl is needed for legion or ghostface, might be the way I play them.

Myers in the other hand will suffer more going from T1 to being able to get bl on t2 then catch up.

    Clown needs to bloodlust?!?!

    Huh?!?!

Something is seriously wrong with how he’s being played if they’re regularly BL with Clown.

This sounds like a troll post. Killers that abilities that work in chase never reach bloodlust because their ability resets bloodlust(e.g Nurse). Weak killers that have no chase ability always enter bloodlust because their chases are too long. All that bloodlust removal will do is expose weaker killers even more and it will make survivors who are good at looping stronger. The reworks for freddy and Bubba took 2 years. They got no reason to change anything really.

Yeah, if the killer is getting bloodlust because the survivor is better than them, then it's a bad mechanic, we shouldn't reward players for playing poorly.

Unfortunately, it will likely also take time.

If you remove Bloodlust before you buff the weaker Killer's, a majority of the cast becomes borderline unplayable on most maps.

They need to change both at the same time.

I have the exact same argument/problem with add ons.

Add ons are fundamentaly flawed from a balance perspective, they should CHANGE what an ability does, not buff it, it should be give and take.

So the devs should remove all add ons, then balance the killers so they are all as balanced as can be stock, with no add ons, then add back add ons but again, they would only change how abilities etc work.

Nurse Blinks a bit further, but the cooldown lasts a bit longer and vice versa.

Demo jumps quicker but less far and vice versa.

    etc etc etc

    I actually disagree.

Let me preface the following with an opening admission. You've become quite famous for your support of The Clown and his viability. I was very skeptical, but I had zero experience playing Clown, so I did not want to say anything. That being said, I've spent the last month playing Clown almost exclusively.

While he IS better than a lot of people give him credit for (especially with add-ons), in my opinion, he is still low-tier. When at a loop with Clown, the Survivor needs only to drop the pallet, and Clown's power is essentially useless at said loop. As a result, Clown eats pallets and wastes a lot of time breaking them.

Unfortunately, at this point in the game, there are enough pallets, in my experience, to allow the Survivors to stall long enough to escape. I still feel that if I went against Survivors of equal skill level to my Clown, I would simply lose, barring the possibility of a map like Hawkins, where is easy to mindgame pallets.

In short, I feel like this change will hurt Clown a LOT. However, not only Clown, but Legion, GhostFace, Myers, Wraith, Trapper, and Demogorgon, all lower tier Killer's.

To BHVR, statistics is just numbers. I have no confidence that they employ anyone who has an understanding of how to accurately obtain and interpret statistics.

What's the OoO reasoning? Sorry I only started playing this game again this year so I'm lost on the story.

  • MrPenguin

Yes but bloodlust was mainly there to help against the devs poor map design, which still isn't great. DBD has a lot of things the reward bad play: DS, BT, hatch, ect. I don't believe BL is high on that list since getting bloodlust usually meant you wasted so much time you're probably going to lose the game. Wish they would have chose something more important.

They said OoO wasn't strong because the person using it doesn't survive as much. Not even knowing the game well enough to realize that's because people will do everything they can to kill the OoO user because of how busted the perk is. Camp, tunnel, bleedout, as long as they die.

you think wraIth his bad now? current wraith is miles better than his pre-rework iteration where the windstorm addons did not increase his speed but gave him that boost after coming out of his invisibility like he does now in his base kit.

all he needs are a few buffs to his key strengths like making him 100% invisible when 16 meters or further and/or increasing his base movement speed when invisible so he doesn't have to rely on his addons

In all truthfulness, not really sure what they're hoping to see here.

If killers see bloodlust kick in often, they've probably already screwed up and have been chasing 1 survivor too long. Don't care what Ruin/Undying/Pop combo you're running - if you're committing to chases that last a minute while all 4 are alive and not relying on catching survivors out of position and scoring quick hits/downs, gens will be popping like crazy.
