everybody calm DOWN!
so i haven’t been on the forums for a few days, and as i was scrolling through tonight there has been a change... everyone is so hostile!! like getting angry over small suggestions that aren’t even in the game? name calling and spazzing over differing opinions... please remember this is a game! and if we all get our panties in a tangle because we disagree no one is going to listen. please remember to be polite in your comments and try to hear each other out it’s no fun to comment if someone is just going to get overly angry at you

I mean... have you been on reddit or the steam forums?
Nothing has changed, except that DbD now pays for it to happen...
1 -
@Spiritbx i meant at each other, not at devs it’s just annoying to go on a thread i’m actually interested in reading everyone’s opinion but all i see is people at each other’s throats for differing thoughts instead of actually putting solid points it’s just insults. nothing to do with the devs or the game... just meant how we the players interact with each other
2 -
Welcome to the DbD community.1
-
@weirdkid5 i know i know, i just thought maybe if i added a shred of positivity... i’m just not a fan of the arguing over pointless things. i guess it does show the community is passionate though

this. the community was toxic from day one and shall be forevermore.0 -
Reddit and Steam forums can be shitpools when they want to be. Hopefully mods can keep this place in check considering it's an official forum, and hopefully there will be more interaction with the DBD team so people don't go apeshit over lame crap.

As someone else I think @weirdkid5 might be the one that both sides have their biases. Some are so ingrained the game could be balanced and they'd still argue at each other.

However, to simply act (not talking to you specifically @powerbats) as if the game is balanced is just being willfully ignorant. People forget we need both sides for this game to continue to exist. And sometimes, one side has to acknowledge that perhaps something they have is just a little too powerful or weak etc. For both sides.2 -
I agree with your post @weirdkid5 and i hope that eventually they do balancing on a more nuanced scale instead of trying the one side fits all approach that's there by default of code limitations.

Keep up the nice attitude. People like you bring light to this den.

It's so weird people start frothing at the mouths over nothing. Talking about DBD is like talking about fantasy football.
5 -
They removed the downvote feature, it had to be expected, there's some consequences.

This forum is for the most part, actually rather positive for a gaming forum. Outside of a few exceptions, most arguments have been somewhat civil, though very heated. It is still so much better than steam or reddit.
0 -
Lmao, agreed.
Talking to the community is actually killing the game for me, tbh. I tried playing a couple of rounds the other day and I just wasn't feeling it because I have such negative feelings & experiences with & about the community now.

Do you think one can have fun in this game, maybe in the first few hours at rank 20 before you realise how the game actually works, so you vent in the forum
0 -
@Master no i understand coming to the forums to vent to show the devs your problems with the game, what i am talking about is someone commenting a suggestion or idea and instead of responding with a logical comment, or disagreeing and showing their p.o.v, it’s just straight to insults or yelling at someone for being a killer or a survivor. Voicing your opinion to the devs, and dragging down another player are 2 different things

mhhhh are you new to the forum?
Here it is pretty tame in comparison to the steam forum and reddit.

This place is like an episode of Care Bears compared to steam and reddit.
3 -
@Dragonredking no not new, but thanks for asking yes i’ve seen the forums on steam and on reddit. i just meant the first few days this forum opened it was pretty nice and now it’s changed. this forum. not talking about steam. not talking about reddit. i don’t know why everyone is acting like i just spewed some crazy stuff, literally all i said was everyone was hostile, and now everyone is coming here with sarcastic remarks. sorry that i made a whole discussion about it
0 -
I'm chill :^)
3 -
@Fre_Shavacado0 Probably because not everyone is hostile, nor is every thread hostile. There are several threads that do get a bit testy to borderline fist fight, but that is far from the common.
You did kinda spew crazy stuff. For the most part, this forum is very chill, esp considering it is for a game and how downright vile the steam and reddit communities for DBD are. The mod staff has kept things pretty controlled and honestly, the members of this forum has done a decent job policing themselves and keeping things calm. Some of us actually take pride in the fact we do not behave like they do in the steam and reddit communities.

@lasombra1979 i didn’t mean EVERYONE. i just meant that seeing comments where someone suggested someone and someone else spazzed and insulted them instead of giving a good reply was annoying but you’re right, i’m crazy for thinking everyone could actually listen to each other. insane. sorry for bothering this place with my rambling.
1 -
@ASpazNamedSteve i need to see comments from more people like you :’-) thank you!
1 -
@Fre_Shavacado0 You repeatedly said everyone. So I will take it you meant everyone.
Its an anonymous forum for a video game. People are going to over react and say stupid things from time to time. It occurs. Your posts in this thread has made it seem that all this forum is is a raging pit of hatred and anger. One post leads to a swarm of venom. It isnt and not even close to it.
0 -
@lasombra1979 you’re acting as if i called you out by name. let me go back and edit it to “some people” so that someone doesn’t click on this and think i called them out and only them specifically. i never said it was the most anger i’ve ever seen and my poor positive eyes couldn’t handle the absolute hostility being thrown in every direction. nope. just made a comment. that’s all. just my opinion. i didn’t expect people to get their panties all tangled up because i said their could be less hostility in the forums. i never said it was WW3 in here. you’re jumping to conclusions, and i’ve had to explain myself over and over yet you’re still upset. sorry </3 lets just agree to disagree. everyone will have differing opinions, my post was LITERALLY about not getting angry over others opinions and you got mad over mine.
0 -
@Fre_Shavacado0 Actually, I am not mad. Not really sure how you took anger from my comments but ok. The only person I can honestly see as getting worked up is you. Mildly ironic actually.
0 -
@lasombra1979 you’re right so ironic. i am annoyed because i made a comment that there could be less hostility and people got defensive because it’s not as bad as reddit or steam. i guess we can let it get that way then. i never said worse than reddit or steam, just that there is anger in the air.
1 -
Apart from one particular member, I've found this community here quite pleasant to talk to.

@Dwight_Fairfield ive personally never had an issue, it was just a thought i had the other day while reading thread and i don’t even think it was about something super important but for some reason everyone was just arguing and i don’t even believe it was dbd related at that point. but i have personally been lucky and have interacted with mostly positive and interesting people on here.
0 -
@Fre_Shavacado0 you're doing great, and did NOTHING wrong by making this post. I don't see why certain people would want to argue about this? All you said was that you noticed some hostility and we should try our best to keep the forums a safe and positive space to voice thoughts ideas, and opinions. That sounds like a great idea to me.
1 -
@Zanfer i guess i am silly for that, i really didn’t though! i thought everyone would be like “yeah nothing wrong with more positivity!” i have met some cool people on here through positive interactions but i just didn’t enjoy reading the threads where everyone is angry.

Some people argue differently and some people get angry cause we are humans and we get super bored. If we are super bored humans, getting heated about nothing is always a great thing to do.
It can seem rough when someone is mad, but like you said, they are getting heated over nothing. Just don't let it bother you and just move on to more important post than..

Eh. This forum is new and moldable. The problem with both the steam forum and reddit is that mods never set a standard for acceptable behavior until it was too late. What should happen is that we call each other out on unacceptable and hostile behavior. (E.g. Stuff like "You're a killer main so ######### off", "You're an obnoxious twat", "All survivors are entitled trash".) The point is that we don't shame/attack people, regardless of the opinions they hold (to a reasonable extent), what they play, etc. There's a line between passionate and toxic, and the mods need to find and enforce it.This forum _could_ be the gold standard compared to the two, but we're not going to be any better by saying "well, we're not _as bad_ so let's leave it."

Some guys have spent insane amount of time to prove things, either by experiments (marth) or by solid logic, check the SWF/ranked thread in the old forum e.g.
Sadly the devs just ignore us and we have to deal with this situation. When you are participating in the forums, you will always see someone stating somethign that is just straight up bullshit and at some point you dont care anymore and trashtalk back, I can say so about myself at least.Oh and btw, compared to the ingame toxicity of DBD, visiting the forum feels like a cure to cancer
1 -
@Visionmaker exactly! i hasn’t been horrible yet but i don’t want it to get that way, i just noticed a post that got more hostile than they have been (and like you said not passionate just toxic) and thought to myself this isn’t how i want this forum to end up. i for the most part enjoy the forums very much and love interacting with other players to hear their stories and ideas, but the fun gets sucked out of it when someone gets mad.
0 -
I think an overall willingness to actually discuss things and not just post an opinion then watch what happens could help set us apart, for sure. “Your idea is dumb kthx” helps nothing.
So yes, less hostility people!1 -

This is true, also the fact that the mods here took away the downvote button in the name of positivity shows that they're probably watching & trying to work on the issue of member behavior on the forums.
But I will say I hope that they don't enforce positivity, because I've been on forums where that's the case, I've been a community moderator for 5 years on forums where that's the case, and it's a real pain in the ass and a stifling environment, and I say this even after acknowledging that people's ######### attitudes make it hard to like the game still.
