First match went about as well as you would imagine
I repeat, FIRST MATCH. BHVR, get this joke that you call a matchmaking system fixed. This is utterly ridiculous. Is it really that hard to wonder why new players don't stick around?

I primarily play on PS4, but I recently got the Xbox Series X, and I wanted to see how well DBD ran. GOOD NEWS: It looked and ran great! BAD NEWS: I witnessed for myself everything that newcomers to the game are complaining about.
Not only was this a Freddy with perks from multiple killers, but it was a Freddy with a Mori. How the hell are newcomers expected to get better with something like this? This is hardly an ideal way to practice.

Thats because you are rank 20 and there is not enough brand new players to match you at the same rank.
Its so easy to get to green in a few hours of play on either side. The system then makes you go agaisnt higher ranked for quicker match making and the same goes for low ranked killers.
Apart from yourself everyone else is within 6 ranks of the killer which is normal for matchmaking.

I keep seeing people mention the "rule of six", but I've never once seen the devs mention that that's how matchmaking works. But even if it does, is there seriously no other killer across PC, PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo that couldn't be closer to my rank?
This is why DBD badly needs a practice mode like what the mobile version has. If new players are just going to get stomped into oblivion while they practice, then there needs to be something that newcomers can do that helps them to understand and learn the basics.

That's grim but it's your first match ever and you've got over 1k posts?
Edit: nwm, missed your other comment

I mentioned that I primarily play on playstation, but I just got a new Xbox so I was testing it out there, and this is literally what I encountered with my very first survivor match.

Yeah I'm blind and missed that. I switched from ps4 to steam this month and it's been similar.

Its been stated by peanits a few times and why people mention it.
A killer being at your rank is dependent on new players being on at the same time and why it has to expands. It should look for your rank first of course. You know how easy it is to rank up having played on ps4 for a while so anyone can get to yellow or green with a few hours of play since you cant down rank in brown.
New players it can seem daunting but its either this or they have to wait so long for a game that they may stop playing.

I stuck with this game because I had people to play with. I can only imagine what it's like coming in solo. But in all honesty, if a more even playing field means having a wait a few more minutes for a match, then I'm perfectly fine with that . I understand everybody may not be, but I'd like to think that most people would agree that this is no way to practice.

The problem probably isnt simply a few minutes but more than likely a lot longer depending on region and time of day.
The new rank reset compounded this issue and since it is so easy to rank upon either side to green or purple new players having to wait in some regions could be a few mins but in others it could be 30 mins plus.
The initial games are of cpurse what dictates if a new player will stay but I think playing is still better than a lobby simulator and if someone enjoys the mechanics of game at least they can strive to get better over time.

I joined when they rolled out that wonderful, zero issue MMR system this summer.
Rank 1 killers with over 4000 hours in the game vs. my zero experience Rank 20 ass with 1 yellow perk.
Switch over to killers, play 4 rank 1-4 survivors as a Rank 20. I literally got apologized to after the game by them when I don't even think I wounded one all game, much less hooked.
After they took that down, I think they've just shelved the idea. There is no match making system in this game. They just throw random people together within 10 ranks of each other and hope for the best.

Ha "within 10 ranks of each other"

Nevermind!

I’m not trying to make any accusations, but just truly curious. How were you able to buy any perks at all if this was your first match? It’s been so long since I turned in the game for the first time, I don’t recall if they give you a handful of starting bloodpoints or not.

I am a level 20 killer and got matched with a rank 6, 11 and can't recall the other but one was a 20. I don't think they were a SWF trying to carry a lower level but this isn't the first time I have ran into this and it can be very punishing for people new to the game or those that don't have a lot of time to invest. I will try and grab a screenshot of when it happens again because I feel confident it will.

Yeah I'm thinking they shelved it as well. This is probably as good as it's going to get. 😕

No worries. Hopefully matches get better for you. 🤞

When I logged in yesterday it said I was given a gift of 600,000 blood points. To be perfectly honest I have no idea why, but I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth! LOL I had also started out with a few killer matches prior to my first survivor match.
