Jump-scare moments - what is yours?

I've been playing almost a month now so, still pretty new, and there is still a ton I don't know. With that said, I was playing a game against Myers, a killer I'd not played against yet, and he got a jump scare out of me while I was repairing a gen.

I was on the gen, rotating the camera around a bit, and no one was around, no heartbeat, everything is quiet and all is good! I got a couple of skill checks, which I nailed. Then right as I rotate my camera to look behind me, BOOM! There he is!

He legitimately got an "Oh #########!" reaction out of me! I didn't know anything about this Killer at the time, so I thought he was just standing there to be in-character or something. Then I heard the classic piano music begin playing, he lifted his knife a little and a skill check came up which I wasn't prepared for, blew the gen and took off running haha. It was a great moment because I had no idea why he was just standing there.

Would love to hear some of your jump-scare moments if you have any!

Got hit by one of those across-the-map Hunting Hatchets once.

    That got me real good.

I was playing on Midwich going for an unhook, still didn't know who the Killer was (as I play Solo Que usually) and I looked down the LONG hallway past the lockers and debris. It took me a moment to focus and saw that far away there was a Deathslinger standing in that broken alcove created by bent lockers. He was using the Hook as a honeypot, camping it from the maximum range of his harpoon. I literally snorted soda out my nose and had the mother of all jump scares right before he took the shot (and me down).

Just like Boss above, I got sniped once by a huntress, made my heart skip.

Nothing is scarier than going against a good huntress on an open map.Hatchets are flying left and right the whole game

Today I finished a gen against a billy, first gen of the round... was sitting there wondering "I havent' even seen him, does he have tinkerers?" then I take 2 steps and almost got chainsawed to discover he did, in fact, have tinkerers.

I was on Father Campbell's Chapel, as Pig, when this random Bill just tried to drop-assassinate me from the second floor window while I was crouching around. I know I'm supposed to be the big scary killer, but you try having ######### Christmas Bill land literally on top of you, completely out of the blue, with zero warning, and not have to change your underwear.

When you work on a gen and suddenly get exposed from a ghostface out of nowhere

When I don't even know it's a Hag yet and set off one of her traps.

Most of my jump scares are while playing killer, though, when a survivor I never saw suddenly drops a pallet on my head. Duuuude.

A match against a Deathslinger, on The Game map.

He hooked my teammate above a hole on the map. Me, being under, is thinking “Haha! This’ll be an easy save”.

A second after thinking that, Deathslinger fires at me from above the hole. The interesting part is that: he never reeled me in. Never moved.

To this day, I don’t know if he was just as surprised as I was, or if it was a warning.

Almost made me drop my controller.

I was walking through Autohaven Wreckers as the Nurse. Minding my own business. It was the start of the match. You know, just kinda feeling things out. Slowly floating around.

I walked through a pallet and suddenly it smashed on top of me. I jumped really bad and hit my knees on the underside of my table. One of those creatures they call 'survivors' began twitching rapidly before leaving scratch marks all over the place.

It was a long time ago, but there's nothing scarier in this game than survivors. You can hit them with every kind of weapon imaginable and if they lightly rub it they will stop bleeding and move around like nothing ever happened. You can only hope your outfit is enough to make them a little wary to keep from devouring you.

Jump scare = surprised by something happens so suddenly.

    • Killers emits 32m terror radius makes survivors know them coming from long distance. Except for stealth killers
    • While survivors can hide then suddenly drop pallets

This game survivors jump scare killers more than vice versa

This one was pretty decent. Looking back I'm pretty sure he heard me turn and sprint up the stairs lol. Learning experience at least

Quite a occasions, while I’m repairing a gen, some random Meg will urban evade around a corner, startling me into thinking it’s Pig 🙄

Also, the invisible Claudie’s who are standing plainly still, then move suddenly as you’re walking past them... they get me worse than Ghostface sometimes, smh

When you pop a Hag trap before you know you're against a Hag.

Alternatively when you have no clue there's any survivors nearby and suddenly you just get stunned by a pallet out of nowhere while minding your own business.

Several people have mentioned this before, but those times when a Survivor drops a pallet on my face as I'm just casually walking past get me every time. It happens so rarely, but when you don't even see the Survivor and just get a CLUNK straight to the noggin is absolutely terrifying.

I gave a good scare to a guy as the Wraith yesterday. I was using the add ons where you couldn’t hear the bell and I could also see auras through walls. This was in Haddonfield and a Quentin was trying to be sneaky on the first floor of one the houses. He was crouching along the floor and looking out the front door as he began slowly climbing the stairs. It took him a full two seconds to realize what was blocking him from going up as I silently materialized right in front of his eyes! His panic was priceless!

The exposed status effect from Devour Hope, MYC and Iron Maiden. NoED is just a dissapointed sigh, and killer's powers are expected so those aren't as scary.
