Is Soul Guard a good counter to Ruin Undying meta

People talk about using detectives hunch or small game to cleanse quickly but no one considers soul guard. Being able to get off the ground is huge. It robs killers of a lot of slugging potential. So I am curious to see if any players have tried it and what were the results ? 🤔

It can be very powerful, but it's pretty situational.

I would rather choose items and perks that would help me getting rid of both hexes as fast as possible.

Not a good counter. It has made soul guard a lot better because you’re in a hex most games. I find Im rarely able to get up if I use it by itself though. Unbreakable makes it better but it’s still not a guarantee as slugging isn’t always

i mean if the killer slugs sure but if they don't or if they don't have a hex you just wasted a perk slot.

very good against specific killer playstyle + build

pretty bad if not in fact you don't even have a perk if your never slugged.

Soul guard does nothing to counter ruin or undying

Its reliant on the killer slugging, long enough for you to revive. And with Ruin + Undying they tend to have time on their side so will probably just hook you.

They mean against slugging, since you can pick yourself up. I personally like the perk a lot, but I never know if I'm going to get slugged or placed against an undying killer

It counters slugging if a hex is active, but it doesn't counter Ruin or Undying.

Not really. Soul Guard on itself is not a good Perk, it becomes somewhat decent when paired with Unbreakable. But thats about it.

If you want to have something against slugging, run Unbreakable, it is a one-time use, but it is a guaranteed pickup, if the Killer slugs. For Soul Guard you still need a Hex active, and most of the time you want the Hex-Perk of the Killer gone as fast as possible.

It can be good if the killer slugs. The way my team handles Ruin/Undying is a combination of Prove Thyself, a toolbox, Sprint Burst, and Repressed Alliance. We used to bring Distortion but found it was a wasted slot once Ruin was gone.

Basic theory: Prove and Sprint Burst allow you to blast a gen and commit longer without being in danger. Repressed Alliance lets you temporarily save the progress on the gen if the killer runs you off. We've also messed with toolbox/Built To Last/Repressed Alliance on one survivor and Prove/SB on another.

It depends on the killer ultimately as if its ruin + undying on the Oni(For whatever reason) or michael then yes it will probably help you out a lot in that game simply due to the killer's power encouraging slugging which it counters.

However against legion who has Ruin + Undying it won't help you as legions rarely slug for long due to their overall low lethality thus making it do next to nothing against them.

I tested it for about 15 games and sadly haven't used even once
