Possible movie tie in, or sheer coincidence
Ok, hear me out. In the not so good movie Freddy vs Jason, an outside entity had brought the two together to kill. What if theoretically, that entity is our entity, and it was a test to see who he rarhered to join him, and Jason lost. Jason was too boring for the entity. Is this what happened, no. I know that, but at the same time, it’s kinda fun to think of it like that. What do y’all think?

the Freddy in DBD is a completely different version than the Freddy in Freddy vs Jason
also Jason won that match, he raised from the waters carrying the head of Freddy (though he was still alive, he was still defeated, meaning that Jason won in my books)

I might be too old to remember, but wasn't it Freddy who reanimated Jason by posing as his mother in his dreams? I can't remember any outside entity intervention.
