Bear traps are pointless sometimes

Many times when I play as the trapper I'll see/hear someone step into a trap and even before the little notification graphic is gone I see them get out of the trap immediately, no help just right out.
was there a shadow nerf to the traps?
This happens even with addons to to hinder trap escapes

Trapper unfortunately is a killer that is severely affected by RNG.
They should just make his traps and spawns more consistent so stuff like this doesn't happen.
