Honestly rank gap of 5 isn't bad. 4 or less is ideal, but 5 is okay too. 6+ gap is starting to get bad though.

I hope so lol. Agreed, though. Given that rank doesn't matter for much in DBD, it only feels bad to me when it's really egregious. Like, please don't match like rank 12 killers against all red ranks.

That's super close though. Yesterday I played a team of people who were 13 ranks higher than me. It wasn't really a problem because I used to be a red rank killer on PS4, but still, the matchmaking is bad.

rank gap 5 is literally the limit the system can do it's worst.
if you are not a beginner.
your rank should higher than rank 10.
so rank gap 5 is literally half of the range and you guy can say it is not bad?

It's "not bad" because the system can, and sometimes does, put all rank ones against an actual rank 20. I've seen it with my own eyeballs.
So while it's not good at least op is a purple and not some poor noob who brings nothing but tier one monstrous shrine

First of all, it would be appreciatable to doodle the names.
Secondly, I feel you. Rank 8 against rank 1 swfs..... When you get into purple ranks it's basically being in red ranks without being able to brag about it.

Queue times as survivor are very quick for me.
Most of the times, I play against red ranks as green rank's killer. And I can say : some red and purple ranks are playing like new players.

First of all... Hide the names, that's forbidden in the forums.
Second, my brother a match against red ranks being him rank 15 so no, the matchmaking is not fixed.

i know it's only a band-aid fix, but they should just deactivate the pips in those matches with a high rank gap. In other games, you get more pips if the opponent is close to your rank and less pips/no pips if the opponent is some ranks above/under you. This way you can't just farm noobs to level up or get unfairly demoted by someone who is out of your skill level.
I think that's also one of the reasons why a lot of players are boosted in this game and rank basically doesnt mean that much (besides the rank reset that basically prevents that you leave red ranks once you reached it).

It's not as bad as others, though it is frustrating when you're not really looking to play in red ranks in the first place.

I'm rank 6 getting put with rank 14-16 who do not know what they're doing as they are most likely new to the game and it happens consistently, yeah you're a lucky one

as a Rank 6, you actually are in the rank range to be matched with Rank 1s.
its always + - 6 Ranks, so this matchup is actually something a functioning matchmaking system could provide you with.

Where do people get this its +- 6 Ranks at? Was it something from years ago that they said and people still believe for some reason?
I started playing in January and matchmaking has never worked keeping people I play within 6 ranks.

I like how they say +- 6 like its a reasonable matchup range lol. In a game where there are only 20 ranks, +-6 is a pretty big deal

It can do a lot more than 5.
Im only rank 17 rn cuz I skipped killer for a couple months and got reset from purple all the way back to 20. But last night I played doctor & they were 2,3,6,&6. Still killed 3 & 4th got hatch so w/e but by no means can it only be split by 5. Rank 10 killers see almost nothing but red ranks.

Yeah. Its something based on the old matchmaking. With MMR they shouldn't be using it but I honestly have no idea what is active right now. I think its still just a free-for-all honestly.
