PGTW+Surge+Oppression is incredibly strong, comparable to un-cleanse-able Ruin.
Yes that’s 3 whole perk slots just for a comparable amount of near constant gen slow down and regression, but my gosh is it super effective.
And there’s little the survivors can do to combat it other than hope they still have enough time to finish a gen before you as killer return, or set off Surge or Oppression again.
I’ve been pairing this with Hoarder for extra info (when it works). Basement chest for the win. This perk works so much better than Territorial Imperative for catching out a survivor going for the basement chest.

Oppression just isn't very good.
- If somebody's on the generator it applies to, and they land the skill check, the perk gives no value.
- If it randomly applies to a generator that was already at 0% progression (which it can), the perk gives no value.
- It requires you to take the time to kick gens to get value; Pop gets away with this by having massive, guaranteed value immediately, but you can't guarantee that with Oppression.
- It has an 80 second CD.

People don't realize how good Opression is. I've been using Surveillance with it on the Twins and ending most of my games with 3 or 4 gens left

- That’s not that long of a cool down, and that’s why I’ve paired it with Surge & Pop, so there’s almost ALWAYS something making it difficult for the survivors to get repairs done.

I actually just made a post about how much I like the pop + oppression combo. I don't like Surge though.
This build has been so great. It's probably not optimal. But it cannot be taken away from you like ruin undying can. It gives you some random information through the failed skillchecks and it's pretty satisfying to walk past random regressing generators without needing to rely on totems that can spawn literally right next to gens and get wiped out in the first minute of the game or be hard countered by maps.

I feel like I need to make a post asking people to stick in pairs, because that's the counterplay to this entire chapter. Got this build? Try using it when gens take 48 seconds. Wanna play the Twins? Me or that Claudette will beat you to death if you down one of us. Wierd bugs going on? Have a buddy to laugh/cry with.
It's a strong build, don't get me wrong, personally I'd pair it with Surveillance for all the tracking I'd want, but it's only strong because people are stilick in the mentality of splitting up and going gens solo, thus giving the killer 80 seconds to interrupt. That only works when everyone is always on gens.

I mean considering the best perk combo in the game for killers is arguably ruin + undying + discordance; stacking on gens is a really bad idea in the overwhelming majority of cases. Discordance is a really nasty perk with ruin; exactly because survivors want to stack up to get them done fast and ignore ruin.

I actually really like opression and the combos it can create. Far more interestign and dynamic than zzzundying ruin. It's also good at taking down ppl who try and split gen pressure which is what good teams will do, meaning they may end up staking, wasting more of their time and starting a party if i have discordance.

i promise you that if you simply replace it with ruin you will get more value then it's until usage throughout your game.
if it didn't have a 80 second cool down i wouldn't say that but the cooldown is just too long to be viable, your basically getting mediocre value and running thrilling and pop would get you more value and info than that perk combo with arguably better info since you would know what gen a survivor is on with oppresion there is only a chance that it applies to a gen a survivor is on and they have to fail the skill check.

Ruin is a hex, it can be taken out right away and then you've wasted a perk slot that whole game
Thrilling does not regress gens, has a 60 second cooldown, lasts only 16 seconds and you're not guaranteed to be picking up a survivor every 60 seconds, I can almost always find a gen to kick and when I do I have kicked 3 gens for the price of 1 and have Surveillance which lasts until the gen is done regressing or gets repaired, and a sweet hearing bonus. Pop goes the weasel is just a really strong kick and you only get 1 after hooking a survivor so it's limited.
On the Twins this usually means I hook a survivor, kick a gen, switch to Victor and go check whatever gen just went off through Surveillance aura/Opression skillcheck (Which is way more often than people are giving it credit for) and switch back to Charlotte when someone unhooks. If Tremors made gens regress though, that would be a better surveillance combo for sure
I appreciate the suggestion but they're completely different combos. It's outside the meta and it works, just try it

It's the build otzdarva ran for most of his 50 winstreaks in a row. It's the build Pro Vengeance ran for a 350 winstreak.
I almost always use either Corrupt or Discordance. Discordance is just so good.
If you spawn into a game and get 2x discordance procs immediately, you know its a sweaty genrush team and to act accordingly. Many times you spawn in and get the proc within 5-10 seconds and know right where to find your first chase. If it procs while you are in a chase, you know you have to end that chase within ~10-15 seconds or you are going to lose a gen for it, etc.

On my Doctor I don't run undying (partly cuz it refuses to show up in my bloodwebs lol) but I run Ruin, Discordance, BBQ, and Whispers and I agree. Ruin with Discordance is nasty.

Great. Who cares. It's what's actually in your games that matters. And I can confidently say that in the rare occasions I do see Discordance, it's never with Ruin and so very clearly isn't "the overwhelming majority of cases." And even then Discordance isn't the big strong perk in that combo, it's still the stupidity that is Ruin/Undying, and you're ignoring the fact that one person can just stay on the generator and finish it. Or, even better, the killer tries to just pressure that one generator.
None of which detracts from the fact that splitting up and doing gens only works when everyone is doing it, and backfires the moment the killer starts a snowball if they have the ability to send generators into regression across the map.

Ok, well I don't play at green ranks. I play at red, where you see ruin undying all the time. And whenever I see ruin undying, I assume there is tinkerer and discordance to go with it, because alot of the time there is.

He is saying that gen regression speed when kicking them should default to half the rate of survivor repair. Right now it is 1/4th. So when you kick a gen, it takes 4 seconds to regress 1 second. This is terrible in terms of time efficiency, and given that there are 4 survivors and 1 killer, it honestly should be reversed, if the killer kicks a gen it should probably regress 1 second for 1 second, and then ruin can make it happen by default as a perk. This would make kicking gens worth the time. Then we can continue on the path of making gen regression perks not stack (none of them really do except surge but even that is really situational).
Another common suggestion is for kicking a gen to work like a mini pop. Have it regress like 5% instantly and continue the same thing. This means that tapping a gen when a killer is around is actually more dangerous.

you can easily get pop to work at least 6 times in any game, i've been using oppression on the twins and 6 times is around the average i get it to go off meanwhile pop activates at least 12 times and if you stay on it all of those activations can be used on a gen for major regression. Also pop gives WAY more value then 3 gens regressing with a random chance to throw a survivor off for mediocre regression which btw is a 1/4 of repair speed. being able to do that every 80 seconds isn't worth running.
i used thrilling in that example because it replaces surveillance in your combo and does a better job at giving you info because if a survivor is on a gen and you use oppression and they get do the skill check you don't know which gen they are on or if their even is a 3rd gen with progress and if there is did oppression hit that gen?
i'm just saying that your combo isn't worth using to what's available mainly because of oppressions cooldown, if that cooldown gets reduced to at least 60 seconds preferably 40 i would say it is a combo worth using since you can get it's limited value more often and that would make it more in line with other regression perks major values such as pop's 25% regression or ruins equal instantaneous regression to repair speed across all gens which gives you enough value to be useful as long as it stays for at least 2 downs if no gens get done.

Pop is a great backup if your Undying spawns on the survivors feet 50% of the time.
Pop as my 4th perk relieves the totem pressure stress that comes when you run Undying. I care very little if my totem gets broken, if I've gotten hooks and I'm applying enough pressure then Ruin has done its job and I can solely rely on Pop and BBQ for the rest of the match.

It should as it currently affects Overcharge skill checks. So provided that any of the other affected gens by Oppression are within the TR, and survivors happen to be working on them.

Yes, please deliberately misunderstand me for the sake of saving face and completly ignore that I was talking specifically about Discordance, which is the only time stacking agaisnt Ruin/Undying isn't ridiculously effective.
And since you care about rank so much (for no apparent reason)... Rank 1, both sides, miserable experience but what can I say: I don't believe in deranking.

my great backup if ruin undying falls early is tunnel because it pretty much works just as well but it also gives space for stridor or some other fun 4th perk

Well that’s the beauty of this combo. I don’t need to be babysitting gens at all. A single down, and single kick after a hook can have a very far reach, and saves a tonne of time to just focus on the hunt and chase.

40 seconds would be way too short. You have to remember that when it’s down to 4 gens (two repairs left) every kick with Oppression active guarantees every single gen is affected (if the all have repair progress). That’s an incredible time saver.

It doesn’t add Overcharge to the other 3 gens if that’s what you’re curious about.
I’ve pretty much stuck with Hoarder because it seriously catches survivors off guard, and can lead to an easy basement hook.

Yes it does. Had a game today where oppression went off at a gen 3 of us were working on and we all failed the skill check

That’s the normal thing Oppression is meant to do. What I meant was that failing those Oppression skill checks only regresses 10%, not 15% like Overcharge.

youre contradicting yourself. Overcharge works on the other 3 gens damaged by oppression, and overcharge will regress the gen no differently if you fail it...

You literally have all 4 perk slots based around generators with that combo. With Ruin and Undying you only lose 2 perk slots.....

Overcharge adds a difficult skill check to any gen that is kicked directly by the killer. Failing an Overcharge skill check adds an additional 5% instant regression on top of the normal 10% instant regression.
Oppression will effect up to 3 additional generators after kicking a gen. Those additional gens will either start regressing at the normal rate as though they were just kicked, or if survivors are working on them they will face a difficult skill check that looks the same as Overcharge. Failing this skill check still only causes the normal 10% instant regression.
If Overcharge and Oppression are combined, only the gen that is directly kicked will have the skill check that can incur the additional 5% instant regression, not the additional 3 gens affected by Oppression.
