Instant queue with survivors >10 ranks higher than me (as killer)

So, I bought the game a couple days ago and something seems to be off with matchmaking, especially in the evenings (GMT+1 timezone here).

Tonight, I played 3 matches as Rank 13 killer. Every time I got an instant match (waiting time maybe around 10 secs) with survivors ranked much higher than me:

Game 1: Rank 1, Rank 2, Rank 8, Rank 8

Game 2: Rank 2, Rank 3, Rank 7, Rank 8

Game 3: Rank 2, Rank 2, Rank 5, Rank 8

From what I understand, matchmaking system is supposed to group me with higher ranks ONLY if waiting times are long. However, in my situation, I get instant matches, but with people >10 ranks higher than me.

Needless to say, I'd rather wait a minute or two and play a fair game. I barely know the map, yet I am forced to play against god-tier loopers with months/years of experience. I can get a few hooks here and there, but this is far from being fun. Why is this happening? Was my account accidentally marked as smurf or something?

    Yeah, if this keeps up, I'm taking another break from playing, and spending money on dbd.

    The only relief is being able to open a gate and start end game.

    This games matchmaking is notoriously flawed and unfortunately if you want to get good at killer, you will have many lobbies like the ones youve mentioned.

    The matchmaking isn't actually flawed. That's an excuse for how terrible this game is for Killers. The reason this scenario is so common is because the Survivors didn't have any Killers searching for a match at that time within their time frame. As Orion said;

    Because the survivors waited in que for probable purple ranks - none. Waited in que for probable red reansk - none. Waited in que for probable green ranks - none. Then waitedin que for a probable yellow rank - THERE HE IS.

    The only people these survivors had to play with is low level Killers that havn't been pushed away from the game yet.

    No wonder their waiting time is long. Nobody would want to play killer with survivors ten levels higher that them (which makes queues even longer, and then even worse matches).

    Should I facecamp + noed so I make survivors stop queueing as well? This is just sad.

    It's long for survivors so they just match them as soon as game finds a killer.

    I really wish they would incentivise playing whichever side is lacking players. They brought it up on a survey a few months back, what people would like as a reward for playing Killer if Survivor has an excess of players and queues are long or playing Survivor if there's a plethora of Killer players or if people would even be interested in something like that.

    Personally a bonus or just a notification that "Hey there's a lot of people playing Survivor right now so expect long queues and jank match making, may we suggest playing killer this evening?" would be great additions to the game.

    The problem with queue times really isn't as dramatic as "the game is pushing killers away because they're so dreadfully undertuned." It mostly comes down to two things, from what I gather: Killer is a lot more stressful than survivor and demands a larger list of skills that need to be honed through gameplay than survivor does, and a lot of people get into this game through their friends being into it and they want to play with their friends. Their only real option, if they don't have a full 5-stack, is SWF.
