Moris are the only reliable counter to keys
Why are you nerfing one while not nerfing the other? Nobody disagrees that they both need to be changed. They are both awful for the game. But you can't nerf the only reliable counter to keys, and then leave keys the same. It is going to be miserable for a while now until keys are fixed.

No, Moris are your excuse to use when someone has a key.
Moris are easy mode and any excuse killers get to use them, they'll use the excuse.
Thank Jesus for the nerf, now you actually have to put in work for your Mori, because with keys, some gens, some work has to be put into before using them.

then dont play wait tell there fixed and stop complaining
4 -
Lies. ppl could still use a key with moris but I highly doubt the vast majority of ppl bring an ebony mori once they see a key. More likely to see franklins since that's way more effective imo. Anyways it probably takes animation time to fix keys so thats why they didn't do it yet. I don't mind the mori nerf since I rarely use them anyway. Just another junk in the bloodweb now
4 -
Franklins is not effective, survivors have figured out how to play around franklins very well.
As soon as you see that franklins is in play, you pick your key back up, and hide it in a corner of the map and then you use the key once the hatch spawns. Basically, if you want to make sure the key disappears, you have to camp it for 2 minutes. Which means, you just lost because 4 survivors doing nothing but gens for 2 minutes = 5 gens done.
5 -
Not everyone does this. Besides, if you play well enough they might not have the opportunity to get back to it and use it. Point is I don't think moris countered keys because somebody else would just pick it up anyway. Mori nerf was expected and idk why this is the biggest hot take from the patch notes.
3 -
If the hatch is spawned and you see someone with a key. You can just slug the person with a key. They can't open the hatch while slugged.
3 -
I don't think ppl need an excuse to bring a mori. What if they just like the killers mori animation. Nice for people to have the option available
3 -
Mori's were the only reliable way to beat a 4 man red rank meta SWF if you were not playing an A or S tier killer. Now you load into a 4 man SWF lobby and you are demo or something? You might as well dodge unless you want to be their plaything.
I will be playing a lot less of the weaker killers after this patch, I can tell you that.
1 -
Well from my experience, I dont run into those teams often enough. Those are the tourney squads and stuff which rarely happen for me. I didn't bring a mori against them because I run into them once and never see them again. If you keep running into them or know you're going against a tourney squad, wouldnt it just be better to dodge and save yourself the trouble?
4 -
I don't like dodging, and I go against pretty sweaty 4 mans often. I agree Mori's were BS against solo Q.
But the weaker killers have nothing now; the SWFs are going to have a field day. You get sent to haddo by a 4 man SWF and you are just done.
It would not be so bad if you were not locked into your killer, because you could at least switch from Clown or something to Spirit/Nurse to make it fair instead of a hair pulling experience.

Mori does NOTHING against keys! If you mori the key user, the key will likely be left behind and picked up by another survivor. And by removing one player from the game, the hatch spawns sooner, making it even easier for the survs to escape. If you really want to counter keys, take Franklins and camp the key!
3 -
"Not everyone does this" is not a good way to balance a game. I'm tired of this excuse of like "Not everyone is a SWF death squad" It doesn't matter if it is rare, the fact that it happens at all is a problem.
Let me pose a hypothetical. Imagine if there was a killer offering that existed that had a 0.5% chance of appearing in the bloodweb. This offering doubles your movement speed as killer, doubles the time it takes to gens, and makes all survivors exposed for the entire game. Is that balanced? It only appears in 1 out of every 200 games, which means you will only see it once every 30 hours or so of gameplay (not counting queues). Is that balanced? Rarity or difficulty is not the way to balance things.
6 -
Franklins is a terrible counter because of what i said above, just pick up the key and hide it somewhere on the map until you are ready to use it.
If you camp the key it takes 2 minutes. Gens take 80 seconds. What happens when you let 4 survivors do gens undisturbed for 2 minutes?
0 -
No, you just think you do. If you lose to a "sweaty 4 man" , it's more of a you problem than anything, because those squads are rare, and even then still beatable.
4 -
Not saying that franklins is a GOOD counter, but at least it is an actual one. Mori is NOT.
First of all, they will likely be only 3 survs doing gens, bc one will try to get their key back. Furthermore, survivors tend to play really stupid when you use Franklins, trying to get their items back recklessly although it would be better to just forfeit them. I've experienced this countless times. With mori, the survs will crank out gens like crazy, with Franklins, they fool around trying to get their items back.
Judging from my personal experience, using Franklins against keys nearly always feels satisfying, were using a mori feels stressful, since I have to be fast with kills to even have the chance to use it. Which can be really difficult against good loopers. And even if I mori the key wielder, the key may remain and I have not countered anything.
1 -
I've played at rank 1 for years. I have gone against a few NA tournament squads. I can tell you from experience you cannot beat them if you are not using a Mori unless you are playing Nurse or Spirit. It's just not possible. Even with a Mori they usually just leave the person on the hook until 2nd stage anyways.
And I rarely play strong killers, because I find them too easy against solo Q teams most of the time. But now I'm locked into them when I recognize an Object SWF that I have played against. And I will have no answer.
The only answer is to stop playing the weaker killers, or dodge.
4 -
You can win with TRAPPER against a tournament squad. I do main Nurse, Hag, Huntress, and Spirit, but I play enough Demo and Legion to know that you can always have the ability to at least tie with sweaty survivors. Just using a mori makes it easier and for some reason that's all people want: easy wins.
5 -
try actually killing the survivors its really not that hard
1 -
And I've played at rank 1 for three years straight. I've played against a few tournament squads as well. They are very much beatable without a mori. Just use your skill instead of a crutch to win.
4 -
Both were/are problematic add-ons that allowed one side to deny the other a chance to play a full conventional game of DBD. Keys deny the killer the chance to play the last few gens and endgame while mori's denied the survivor the chance to play after what would be their second hook (and practically much of their time after their first hook was also lost.)
0 -
Keys still need to be reworked though. The fact that survivors can all escape if they play their cards right is kind of ridiculous. But the moris definitely needed a nerf.
0 -
You didn't read my post obviously. I have no problems with moris getting nerfed, but at the current time they are the only reliable way to deal with keys. So i guess i'm saying:
"try actually doing gens and escaping from the killer its really not that hard"
0 -
the one hook and instant tunnel required a lot of skill, i'll have you know.
4 -
No one is debating that, believe me.
3 -
I don't understand why they couldn't just disable both until they are both fixed
1 -
Mori's were easier to do, and do make the game healthier in the interim.
1 -
what if he paid for the rift? in that case I'd excuse back to back afk wraiths for the next week or so, since it's not like survivor queues are gonna be going down in length any time soon to get the rest of their levels in any fun way. and if enough of them are doing that then the survivor queues won't get too bad right away, at least until the rift is over, allowing me to finish my rift without having to do that myself while also picking up around 8K bp a game on average witht he rift xp from gens and totems.

When I see a key I just lobby dodge and I am going to continue doing so so this doesn't effect me as much. But I get people that are upset beacuse of this, maybe they don't like to wait for numerous lobbys or they just don't have Franklin's. Anyway, it is just another way that the devs have shown their bias towards survivors.
1 -
Moris are not reliable counters to key in any way shape or form. If you kill someone with a key, it stays in the game. Other survivors can go by the hook and grab it. Franklin is more of a counter if you proxy camp the item out of existence.
2 -
They still do after the second hook????????
Forehead
1 -
How do moris make game healthier? And just because mori was easier to change it doesn't mean they could not disable keys until they are also fixed
0 -
Ah sorry for being unclear. I mean mori (changes) were easier to do and do(es) make the game healthier in the interim.
1 -
Its not😂 but the point is your point is wrong. Killing survivors isn't that hard meaning keys are useless if you are good and a mori is way stronger than a key
1 -
Anyone who says playing killer is easy, is either exceedingly good at this game (which is rare), or Dosent main killer.
2 -
oh yeah, because doing gens in this game is sooo hard, oh wait, it is not, is the easiest ######### to do in this game
1 -
Never said it was easy did I. I said killing survivors isn't that hard. Most red ranks are trash and if you lose to people who cant loop they must be tournament level or you can't pressure at all. When I played killer most my matches were wins and when i had a good team it was hard even with oni and yeah I had some HARD games. But I can safely say its not hard to not lose to a key. The really good players almost never rely on keys so the chances of getting wrecked are low and even then unless its a set keys aren't that big of an issue the biggest issue is the fear factor
1 -
So the good survivors never lose to Moris too then right? I mean; a measure of logic stands that the same should hold true, so why nerf Moris?
3 -
Try playing against a team using a key and a hatch offering so they know exactly where the hatch is. And tell me again that moris are stronger.
2 -
Man keys are nonsense but i rarely have them be a problem. Often when I play against a team with a key I either win just fine like normal or they win so bad they don't need the key. I very rarely have key escapes; hell often I see survivors actively THROW a game because they don't do the generators and instead focus on that hatch and I just down the person with the key and steam roll them because they have no gen pressure at the last leg.
0 -
Never even said that so that's a red herring
0 -
Did that with an object on pale rose with huntress who im not good at and I wrecked them until they played immersed any other map and it would have been different and still if you can kill them fast enough or idk maybe GO TO THE FREAKING HATCH you would not have a problem. They cant open a hatch if you are on it and only 1 can go through at a time giving you the time to get on it. So yeah that complain is still nothing new unless the team is good which is rare
0 -
Use Franklin's or tunnel the holder out of the game if you're that concerned. Seriously why is everyone freaking out about this?
1 -
Keys are bullshit, but aren't as oppressive and frustrating as pre-nerfed moris.
With keys, you can bring Franklins and tunnel the person with the key, eventually having the entity destroy it.
Survivors can't do anything against a mori.
0 -
Keys require you to do 5 gens. Same as in game without key. 4 gens done for 3 man escape, 3 gens done for 2 man escape. It takes whole match or sometimes half of match. If you got 4 man escape trough the hatch, you would lose even they wouldn't bring the key.
Mori required you one hook to kill one survivor early and make game almost unwinnable for survivors. Match is ended almost at start.
Mori was much stronger than keys. Why should it be explained?
1 -
Are they really a counter to keys? Or are they more a punishment to players who bring in keys? We have Franklin's Demise to deal with items if you're inclined to use it.
Like idk man, you say moris are a counter but any time I bring in a key I always hear killers in post-game chat saying it's what I deserve and no mercy for keys. So while technically it might be a counter, with the old way of doing things, it felt more like a punishment.
I think keys should be completely reworked so that there is only one key per game(potentially), and the hatch doesn't spawn until the gates are powered(or the last survivor is left alive, which standard procedure, let them fight). Whatever chests are on the field have a chance of spawning a key, but once that key is in play, no more keys can spawn, barring last survivor EGC situations. Franklin's can obviously take it out of play if it ever spawns. Hatch takes 3 continuous seconds to unlock, where afterwards it behaves normally, open for 30 seconds before closing unless closed manually by the killer. If a survivor is hit before the hatch can be opened, they must restart the unlocking animation.
In last survivor EGC situations, when the killer has found the hatch before the survivor, in order to combat the occasional poor door situation, the survivor is given a final chance at finding a key to escape via hatch. All previously opened chests are closed, and all chests have their items reshuffled. One chest is guaranteed to hold a key(randomly decided once EGC starts, never revealed to the player or killer), and the survivor must find that chest in time.
This will hopefully prevent survivors from hiding in a corner because they don't want to give up completely but they have no better option because the gates are far too close to each other, or the killer otherwise has mobility to make up for any distances. This keeps the game going in the most tense ending moments, feeling a little hopeless without feeling utterly so.

So ur complaining about loosing to a good team?
when do the complaints stop? Once you can’t loose at all? How is that fair?
Its like a solo q team expecting to beat a decent nurse or spirit or blight etc.
0 -
Bro it’s not an instant tombstone myers for the whole game, you still had to down every survivor twice to kill all of them
0 -
Thank the lord , what are they doing to moris ? Have there prayers been answered by the entity?
0 -
I haven't used moris in ages and I seem to manage. Yes keys need to change as well and the devs said they're on it, no the game isn't going to die and the world isn't ending because they changed moris before keys.

If I see a key in a lobby I couldn’t care less it’s a item I don’t understand why everyone and there nan cry’s about keys, oh you didn’t get a 4k and grow up move on play your next game your not entitled to a 4 kills every game just because your a killer,
oh FYI, I have to do 3-4 gens for the damn thing to spawn, or even all of the gens if eveyone is alive,
am I the only person that plays killer and really couldn’t care less if I get 4 kills or not I just play for fun a 9/10 I actualy give the last person alive hatch because I don’t care for 4 kills 4 kills means nothing in this game anymore
