If the next killer power is another that survivors can just sidestep or zig zag, I’m going to scream
I can’t take it anymore, and it’s exactly why I persist with Clown the way I do, because this nonsense doesn’t work against him because of his AoE.
I get the impression that when designing a killer, that how it will be played on console takes very little consideration at all. Perhaps even none.
It’s been a concerning trend since Stranger Things (with the exception of Oni), that all a survivor needs to do to avoid 5 of the most recent killers main offensive power that can injure/down is to simply zig zag or side step. Twins has been the worst offender yet of this problem, because of how exacerbated this issue is with the heavy punishment for a single miss.
Mouse & keyboard killers may have less issues landing hits with Shred, The Redeemer, PoTD, Lethal Rush, or Pounce, but even when jacking the turn sensitivity all the way up for a controller, keeping visual track of the survivor in conjunction with following those movements and predicting those movements with an analogue stick is infuriating.
I’ve literally had matches against red rank survivors today where it was impossible to land any pounce at all. None. This isn’t a frame rate or performance issue as I’m playing this on PS5 at a glorious, consistent 60 FPS. I’d HATE to think how miserable PS4 and XBONE players are having trying to play as Twins.
The other concerning thing about the trend with these powers is that the survivors aren’t having to learn to do anything new at all. Just spin, or zig zag, erratically, or side step last moment. Survivors have done it to death, and it is also far FAR too easy for survivors to do.
Please, there needs to be way WAY more consideration, and testing for how killers like these are played on console, against EXPERIENCED, COMPETENT survivors as part of their design. Or survivor agility needs a genuine, serious look at. We’ve (mostly) all been open to Bloodlust being removed. Surely it’s reasonable to gather data on whether survivor agility needs review?!

U don't have to buy the next dlc...

But I’m not going to know that until I try the killer. There’s no test mode.
24 -
they need to add that #########, at this point why added that?

If the survivors can't easily avoid the killer's power there would be a lot of people crying on the forums

I play on ps4 :)

And those people should be told the magical phrase that gets thrown around here like candy at a parade: "Get Good"

Tips please?

There are no tips, only suffering

For some stupid reason the devs wont add the option to play with mouse and keyboard on console, even tho they perfectly know there's people on PC playing with controller. What a ######### joke we are for them...
1 -
Even if they were to do that, they STILL need to consider those that prefer to use a controller in part of the design process and coding process.
2 -
Wouldn't survivors with mouse and keyboard cancel out the advantages of killer on mouse and keyboard?
0 -
There's honestly not that much you can do.It's the same as landing close range hatchets or shreds.
You just need to keep practicing

I'd rather they don't nerf or change survivor movement purely for this reason. What about actually making the aiming better?
What about a good aim assist system for controllers instead? It's very doable, id managed to create a very nice aim assist for Doom 2016 and Eternal that feels great, they actually made an FPS game playable on a controller. Or even add in gyro support for switch and Dualshock controllers (idk if Xbox controllers have it, but last I checked they don't). Would probably help out with that whole aiming and tracking thing, if it really is that bad. Deathslinger and Huntress would become much nicer to play on console if you could do the majority of your aiming with the stick and then move your controller to make the small adjustments to your aim.
2 -
I don't really have that problem unless I ######### up bad, so it seems to be a controller issue. Or maybe even a console issue, I've played Blight with a controller and, while extremely annoying, I still managed to hit rush attacks without the problems you describe (not saying it's easy, I just found that on PC it does translate across controls).
Maybe a little actual autoaim wouldn't be amiss if it's that hard to track on console, if they won't buff the sensitivity. Doesn't really seem fair to be unable to use a killer unless you're some kind of seer.
1 -
I've noticed really good players will actually just hold their aim still with Victor and wait for the survivor to move back and forth INTO their pounce.
I find it next to impossible to reliably escape Victor as a survivor unless the killer messes up big time with the pounce. Usually if the latter is the case, Victor is flung so far that I can't get to him in time to crush him so he can just try again (And I've run right up to him making for an easy pounce lol).
Also let's be real, Victor comes back quite fast even after being crushed. Yes if he gets crushed it's a major blow to the killer player but I think this downtime on Victor is exaggerated a bit at times when the cooldown really is quite forgiving.
5 -
The respawn rate doesn’t matter if survivors can always side step him.
3 -
I'm gonna be honest.
It's kinda crazy how damn fast the turning speed of PC survivors is sometimes
3 -
The other tip is really helpful. Wait till the survivors moves in front of you, dont try to follow his movements. Did you try it?
1 -
Yes
They still just sidestep at the moment of pouncing.

Ok. It helped me when i started with huntress and later with all similar killer. It surely is not 100% safe, but a lot better.
In the end pc will have always the advantage and i struggle with 360 so the killer doesnt matter to me. I have to deal with playing on ps4 every match.

I posted some + a video on your other topic

This is the post everyone should be looking at right now; such facts.

Dont take this the wrong way because i totally agree with you.
But it is the balance that the gameplay has been built on. Killers have always been in the first person view being that as it may thats why their powers usually have that flaw.

I hope Survivors can sidestep or zig zag the next Killer, because I'd be down to hear you scream. Don't forget recording it.
One issue I noticed with the Twins. The sensitivity suddenly becomes higher when controlling Victor, therefore making it harder to hit Pounces because the Muscle Memory gets messed up. Tested this in KyF and while I had my default sensitivity when controlling Charlotte, when switching to Victor, I suddenly 180° with every little mouse move.
I had to manually reduce my sensitivity when controlling Victor, which I can do with a certain button on my mouse, so I can fast fix that issue but I don't think that there is such a button on a Controller.

@Dabihwow they did have a killer test mode sorta. The splinter offerings let you play as killers you hadn't purchased to get a feel for them with no perks. The offerings showed up too much and wasted people's bloodwebs so they got permanently disabled.

I've felt that pain on console but not in DBD since I have it on PC. On PC, you can snap the camera as quick as you want so if you read a juke correctly then it's a piece of cake.
I don't know how high you can bring your sensitivity but I imagine it's not very fast if this is infuriating you to that point.
That was always my main complaint in any game I did play on console. It's like they think everyone on console is slow brained and a high sensitivity will just make your brains explode.
Best thing I can tell you is just be patient with your abilities and get your snaps down. Other than that, good luck lol.
1 -
I feel like they should be brought back just for fun, maybe not as frequent though, and for the other killers you have to buy as well. It was a interesting way to try out the killer

They can't sidestep Victor's pounce unless he's literally at the other end of the map, though...
Demo's power it may be possible to do this to, however it's very obvious when this will happen, and he can use that knowledge to bait and deny good windows, etc.
Lethal Rush is only sidesteppable if the killer has bad frames (sorry console killers...and myself, actually since I have pretty bad frames with DBD since 4.4.0)
PotD, only when it's a bad PH. A good one expects the sidestep and accounts for it.
The Redeemer, again, if quickscoped, can't be dodged. Only if the killer spends too long aiming despite the fact they're already looking right at the survivor, can it be dodged. Just fake scoping repeatedly and they will either zig zag and you'll catch them almost instantly or you'll notice they don't dodge because there's no point, so you can just instantly shoot after faking a few times.
1 -
The turning speed of everyone is way too high.
I'm over here trying to play on my Samba de Amigo maracas, and you guys are just impossible to keep up with.
They need to limit movement for everyone with a more optimal setup than mine. Not all of us can afford a flight stick and pedals.
2 -
With the Twins? Patience.
Victor is a speed demon, don't worry about not instantly pouncing since you can regain lost distance really quickly.
Just fake the pounce a couple times to see what the Survivor does and when you get a feel for what they're trying to do/get right up on top of them you pounce.
Like Huntress, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, and Blight I'm sure that it's something you get better at with practice too. Don't beat yourself up or get frustrated for messing up - it's part of the process.
2 -
As long as there isnt an equivalent to the no skill bubba chainsaw then I'm fine with whatever. Everyone talks about hating Freddy, but I'd take him over someone spasming on the sticks with a bubba chainsaw.
0 -
I've been saying this since Huntress. It's far easier to aim on pc than it is on console.
The main thing for me is the movement and camera dependency some recent killers have. I feel like having a reticle add on for ranged killers would be a quick fix, maybe that's coming in the Huntress add on relook. I can guarantee the drawback to a reticle for hatchets is going to be caused deep wounds or something.

The answer you need right now would be just get better, end of story
1 -
We need unique powers for each survivor as well as survivor specific addons then the game would be fun
1 -
I strongly disagree. The last thing this game needs is some bossy survivor demanding other survivors play a specific survivor, or they dodge.
It's obvious survivors that can waste killer time the most will become as meta as perks that do the same. Run faster? Meta. Repair faster? Meta. Do some niche nonsense like sabotage for free? Nope. Can't run them. They're just lolz characters.
It's bad enough with perks. Oh, run borrowed time, run kindred, yadda.
Survivors are plenty strong enough to be a thorn in the killers side as it is.
I fully enjoy the fact you can play whatever survivors you want with little difference, and that survivors can hide what perks they use from others? The bossy ones can't ######### at you pre-game.

I've been thinking this as well. Lots of things weren't taken into consideration. I'm not left handed, and because of the first person view, I struggle with hatchet throws. Where as I have much better ain with deathslinger. That might not make sense to some, but it is a thing. Can developers factor in things like that? Not really. And the subject almost never comes up.
Wow I got a little off subject. Anyways, yes most killers it's as simple as zig zag ( a.k.a. serpentine ), or use the environment. I am a proud advocate of strategy, so on one hand it's not to big of a deal for me. On the other hand, the simple fact that a simple wiggle motion can be used to avoid most powers is a bit much. Plague is a god example of this.
She vomits a liquid, which can splash. Meaning even a miss could still hit the target. The proper way to do that would be to make splash infections take longer to build up. In short, out side of certain situations, it should be harder to mot become infected. But no, just wiggle a little, worka wonders alwhen a stream of liquid is after you.

When I play oni, I mainly just use the demon dash to attack so I can quickly turn to the side if I please (Is that the oni flick or what am I thinking of?). But they do really need to make a killer that doesn’t have a power you can dodge easily. Maybe a stealth? Idk. But they need to break this cycle.
0 -
So, what you're saying is, you want everything just handed to you and you don't want to be forced to actually put in work to catch survivors? Yeah....sorry, but no. Work for your food.
1 -
If you're playing on a PS4 Pro or whatever, it doesn't count. The consistent fps and latency issues on regular PS4s is a widely known issue. Maybe you're just getting lucky. Having absolutely *no* problems landing those special attacks? Impossible.

#BringBackSplinters

I understand and maybe this is a console issue but personally on PC I find it next to impossible to simply side step Victor. Like if a player just steadies their aim and waits for the survivor to mess up it's almost guaranteed that you'll land the pounce at least it feels that way.
Now all that being said I do want Twins to be good but I also want them to be fun to play against and feeling like you have no chance at avoiding Victor doesn't seem very fun lol I'm trying to feel both sides here so sorry if I show sympathy for Survivors.
Bottom line I think Twins absolutely need tweaking and Bhvr might be waiting to collect more data on it before making changes.

I understand that some of the recent killers might be harder on console, but they also can't balance for console without creating either really bland, boring or easy killers on pc. Why do you think alot more ppl on console play freddy?
0 -
Well of it's something that when you're injured, it can down you, and it's not easily avoidable then yeah. But if you balance it out by making it weaker by giving it something like legion's old ability, where it needs multiple hits to injure/down, it isn't that hard to hit survivors with, and it has a cooldown on how much you can use it then I don't think as many people would be upset about it.
0 -
What makes you think that people play freddy more on console?
In my opinion the only killers that are a bit worse on console is Blight,Huntress (if you go for those long range shots) and Nurse (Turning speed still feels a tiny bit too slow at times).
Other than that it's fine.
Except those damn FPS drops >:(
1 -
Many people I know have come over to PC from console because they are fed up with the freddy's.
I wouldn't know how hard all the killers are, I can imagine trying not to get spun and pathing to minimise distance would be harder, whether it's gamechanging I wouldn't know.
0 -
This's a really bad take considering how easy it is to juke, whipping your survivor around at breakneck speeds requires less than zero effort.
0 -
Exactly. It’s the most easy, braindead thing a survivor can do, and I’m losing count of the amount of killers this works so easily against.
0 -
You can't zigzag Slinger within a certain range if you quickscope. It just isn't possible.
Bad example is bad.
0 -
Hmm,luckily i encountered different killers on console even though there were some days where you would see some more spirits and freddys.
I can definetely tell you that the only gamechanging difference between console and PC is FPS drops.
If you don't have a PS5/Xbox series x then you'll face FPS drops often times when somebody uses dead hard or sprint burst, you get hit with something like sloppy butcher/noed/freddy and whenever you get your first stack of bloodlust (this one is the absolute worst).
Frame drops could then look like this:

I like where you're going with this train of thought. I've only been playing a month and already recognize that, from Killer to Killer, the basic offensive and defensive strategies apply nearly across the board to all of them, and it's...boring. We need Killer's with abilities that really shake up the common Survivor strategies and tactics, truly force them to play differently.
I worked a decent while on a concept Killer, The Angel (Weeping Angels from the Doctor Who series) - it's pretty in-depth and aims to shake things up with her powers and perks (can check it out here if you want: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/208641/new-killer-the-angel-weeping-angel-from-dr-who), and I'm currently working on another Killer, an original this time, that will take things quite a bit further than even that (think hardcore map manipulation abilities).
We need Killers to introduce/force new player strategies and break outside of this small box of the core sidestep and zig-zag tactics.
