How did I NOT Pip Up This GAME?!
Bruh... I worked my buttttt off for these 2 kills and trust me, they were a SWF. I damn near got 8k in each category, and I got 2 kills. I know I'm a red rank now but GODDAM. What the hell do I have to do to pip up??? This is so frustrating man.

you likely didnt kick any gens and probably didnt hook everyone

Kills and categories don't contribute to getting a pip anymore.
Kills still count obviously, but you need to also:
1. End chases quickly
2. Hook everyone at least once
3. Prevent gens from popping. The less gens that have been completed when you win the better your ranking in that area.
Essentially, there is a huge disconnect between blood points and Emblems, especially for the Killer.
It's just designed in a way that makes the game less frustrating for Survivors. Emblems have been kinda silly since their inception.

Oddly enough, killing fast and efficiently is not the best way to advance as a Killer. The Emblem system is whack. You don't just want to win, you want to win with style. You want showmanship. Drag that game out as long as possible, which sometimes means letting people go a bit. Let them get those unhooks, so you can down and chase again. I find I pretty much always Pip if I make a match last 10+ minutes. If I make it last that long and kill 3+ I double Pip.

The short answer is that you have to work way harder at red ranks to earn a pip, than you did a purple ranks. To pip up in red ranks, you have to be playing in a way that would have been considered pretty phenomenal in purple ranks. It's the same for survivor. Getting from rank 4 to 3, in my opinion, is way harder than getting from rank 20 to 4. I can get to rank 4 without a lot of fuss if I am actively playing during a season, but I have only made it to rank 3 once.

I have absolutely no idea why you would care about pipping in this game. It gets you NOTHING. In fact, it means youre more likely to go against gods and/or sweaty tryhards.

To go against those guys? I'd rather be a sweaty tryhard than a wannabe. :) But then again, I play the game for a challenge. The minute I can't get that, I'm moving on.

I mean skill only means so much in a game like this, with all the randomness, bugs, etc.

There is a random factor in every game, and skill matters more than you think. That is why some Killers and Survivors are so reliable.

The randomness in many (most?) online pvp games is largely based on your teammates and/or opponents.. and their skill. Much of the randomness in DBD comes from the game itself. Pallets, hooks, windows, bear traps, RBTs, exit gate spawns, hatch spawns, chests, bugs, etc etc. Of course skill will help, but if whether you get a 2k or a 4k or whether you escape or not, I don't put a lot of stock into that because if the RNG had been different then things would change dramatically. So I don't get much fun from the "challenge" of this game.

Hrm. You and I just have very different experiences. I find my results are pretty predictable and reliable. I don't like random games. I think it is pointless to play them, just as it is pointless to play boring games that are weighted in a Player's favor. If I didn't think my efforts weren't the deciding factor in my overall results, I wouldn't be playing.

We will have to agree to disagree. I find things very predictable. While you can't always control how things spawn, you can control your behavior, and with work the behavior of the Survivors or the Killer. Basics make bank, and if you play reliable, solid basics you will get reliable results.

All righty. If someone escapes because the exit gates are across the entire map from each other or the hatch just happened to spawn beneath their feet despite 0 gens being done, or if someone kills me because I was standing on a disabled bear trap at the exit gate and Trapper was using Iridescent Stone and that trap just happened to be the one to randomly set even though I'm 2 seconds away from opening the gate, I'm not thinking "If only I had been more skillful" lol.
Anyway, I'm done here.

I get that the points and the Emblem System is odd but.. my god.
That should’ve been a pip. Sure, two kills and two escapes equals balanced yadayadayada-
