Key issues that affect survivors

On of the more common arguments about keys is that they give the survivor a free escape, and cuts out a lot of the game for the other players.

However one argument I haven't noticed that often is the other survivors still in the game. If someone escapes through the hatch in front of the killer, they're potentially screwing their teammates over, either because the gates are too close together, or they have NOED, or they're playing one of the killers that can camp exit gates very easily.

It's not fun for the survivors left behind either, and I think we shouldn't just think about keys as a one sided debate, because if we don't focus on all the issues keys pose then nothing substantial is going to change.

I agree. In fact, I think the hatch mechanic needs to be completely reworked.

As killer, you may not wish to slug the third, but to get the fourth you have to slug (or give them a free 50-50 for the hatch). Additionally, suppose 3 gens are done by the time 2 survivors are sacrificed. Then the killer gets punished by 2 survivors on comms looking for the hatch.

This is the part of the game that annoys me the most.

Ironically, I had that happen to me..We had one gen left and the killer was camping hard on gens I managed to barely escape and found the hatch..I lore the other 2 to It cause one had a key..And the SOB with the key just looked at me..given the Killer enough time to find us..Like for a solid minute refused to use the damn thing til we all scatted and then saved themselves leaving me and the other for dead as the Killer kicked the hatch down.

Luckly, I had "wake up" so, before he could find me I opened the door and me and the other guy escaped.

I think nerf will not do for Moris or key..I rework might be needed.

It is true that keys can potentially screw over the Survivor team if the one using it is being selfish and bails on the team.

I think the biggest issue with Key's is bad survivors on your team. Like you mentioned, it can screw you over. In a swf or a coordinated group it's a free escape for several.

I made a post about this a while back, my motto is that key players are selfish players. I've been left to die so many times because of teammates that have brought a key into the match, camped around and have waited for teammates to do generators or for teammates to die and then to jumped through the hatch without even considering their teammates.
