I think some are failing to see the bigger picture with Hoarder.
A 48m detection range is nothing to be laughed at. Doc running Distressing and Calm Carter’s Notes is almost always going hit all 4 survivors that aren’t in lockers with Static Blast.
So let’s dive into a few theoretical situations outside of the obvious.
- High probability of a survivor being revealed in the basement. Being able to reach the basement before a survivor leaves it, and subsequently down them and hook them down there absolutely changes the dynamic of a match, and to the killers favour.
- High probability of survivors giving away their location when they gift an item.
- High probability of survivors giving away their location when retrieving an item from a dead or sacrificed team mate.
- High probability of survivors giving their location away when retrieving an item they hid earlier in the match.
Lets not forget that it will REDUCE the odds of survivors finding keys or other high tier items, even if they’re running Plunderers and Appraisal. And even if they ARE running Plunderers and Appraisal, all the survivors are doing is providing a killer running hoarder much more information. More items = more tracking.

lol. RIP. With the chest retaining the unlocking progress, this perk is basically garbage and a survivor perk in disguise. The only thing that'll make this perk shine is when you pair it with franklins, which is counterable with plunderers, a single survivor perk. And with the overwhelming amount of chest, do you really think most killers can stand a chance in defending them?
Just a terrible perk, nerfed to oblivion. I would run if it made chest unlocking slower and resets the progress everytime you let go, like totems.

That 64m detection range is useless to most Killers for the same reason a gen being blown up from across the map is. Like cool, you have the information. Now what? Unless you're Blight, Spirit, Nurse, et cetera, you're not gonna be able to get there before the Survivor hides or, in this case, gets the item and then screws off. It's worthless information.
And even if it weren't worthless, it's still not that good seeing as how it spawns 2 extra chests in a trial.
Hoarder is the No Mither of Killers because it helps the enemy team in exchange for an upside that isn't useful.

It's a meme perk, I haven't taken any of the Twins perks seriously.
All 3 of them are laughable. The second I saw Blight's perks I knew they were going to take it VERY EASY on the next killers. Blight changed/upgraded the Meta. Can't say the same thing about the Twins.

Why is this suddenly being revived?
I still stand by its usefulness to know when a dropped item is picked up again, particularly at broken hooks when a survivor is sacrificed, and for starting off immense pressure catching someone going for the basement chest.

Hoarder would be decent if the devs get the lower item rarity from chests to working. Right now I fail to see why you would want to add 2 more chests to the map and hope you can catch someone looting a chest instead of running an information perk that would help you defend gens better.

Right now, Hoarder does NOT decrease the value of items in chests, so one of your arguments falls flat.
In the "Key vs Mori War", Keys have the upper hand, so if Hoarder DID reduce rarities like it was supposed to, that would be huge for a niche build.

... the original post is from November 14, back before the bug with Hoarder caused it to be what it is currently. For some unknown reason this thread was resurrected.

Oh.
Well, in that case:
Where is the Necromancer responsible for this, and how do I bring back my dead donut that dropped on the floor yesterday?!

They picked up the item and now they've left. What useful information.
If someone gives you pressure off the basement chest, that's not Hoarder being a good Perk.
