How do survivors learn to repair generators?
Is it an instantly acquired knowledge the moment they enter the entity's realm? Or do they have to learn it trough trial and error? Its not like any of the survivors have a degree in mechanical engineering or any career relating to repairs.

The menu's camera angle means we don't get to see the stacks of "Repairing Generators for Dummies" books sitting next to the campfire.

Benedict baker's journal on generators "These strange machines can be found across this abandoned world. They seem to be some kind of generators, fueling lights. At first I paid no attention to them, but as days turned into months I employed all of my engineering skills to actually fix one. It attracted one of these beings that is after me. But I also noticed that they were somehow tied to something else."
This implies that some of them learn throughout the trial while others already know how to fix one that's what I think

I mean, all they're doing is wiring things together, twisting some knobs and flipping switches, doing that constantly will sure make it work (this would also explain skill check fails)

they possible quickly learned it from dwight or the entity gave them that knowledge.

Lmao why dwight?

Dwitch is in advertising. I doubt he came into the trial knowing how to fix those.

he looks like that type of person that knows how to make other survivors to fix things.

So he is the only survivor who knows how to fix things? bill probably fixed things since he is in his 70s, Feng for example she has technician and she was a gamer so she had to fix stuff, I don't think dwight knows how to fix things like generators

I think that they would have to learn through trial and error

I think they learned it from jake, as he lives out in the woods and almost certainly would have a generator that'd nee maintaining, and he's just taught the others how to do it.

I believe that anything a survivor does to the generator the entity will fix it for an amount.
If a survivor happens to have real experience in mechanical repairs then it will be shown in one of their Perks.
I get this from the engineers toolbox which was made by Vigo but was replaced by the entity

Probably extreme trial and error.
The fact that they know how to do it when we start playing means they've already been in the realms for some time.

Definitely trial and error.

When repairing from the back, doing wires, the survivor looks like they check the bottom plate for a diagram from time to time.
Then again who knows maybe they weren't damaged at all and all the survivors are dumb asses spending half the time breaking them lol

So jake taught thousands upon thousands of survivors? okay...

Jake taught some. They taught others, who then taught others...
Use your noggin.

So jake is one of the first survivors that the entity has captured wouldn't he be in the void by now?
