New found hate for Scratched Mirror
Been playing for a while now, and this is the first time I've had an issue with an add-on; ran into it playing survivor with a couple friends. Like, I get it's an add-o n they'll use up after the match, and it's kinda balanced in that Myers can't go past tier 1...but for that one match, survivors are in hell. Any ideas on how to counter jumpscare Myers would be greatly appreciated, because it's really aggravating me a purple add-on can make such a difference.

Spine Chill reveals him even in T1, and he is very slow. the best solution is to just keep running until the spine chill is dark for at least 10-ish seconds
17 -
That's pretty sound. I'll be running Spine Chill from now on, I have a feeling I'm gonna be seeing more jumpscare Myers...
1 -
Sole Survivor hard counters scratched mirror. Yes it's not the best perk, but I'm not wrong.
3 -
Scratched Mirror Myers move at 105% speed, can't level up Evil Within, has a stubby lunge and can't gain Bloodlust. This is a gimmick that usualy require an indoor map, because if you can see Myers coming he is a joke to loop. He really can't commit to chases, so wen he hit you, just run away and find some kind of open place to heal where he just can't take you by surprise. Even on indoor maps there are open enough areas. As long as you keep running far away and healing in safe places he can't build any pressure.
9 -
I'd just enjoy the novelty. It's something fresh from the usual match you have to go through.
If you want to survive, keep in mind Myers always knows what you're doing. There is -zero- point in hiding. If all four of you hop on gens and he pressures one person, 3 gens should pop by the time his slow butt gets across the map. Then just repeat it a second time to escape.
The longer you're cautiously putting around, the more time Myers has to take advantage of that.
15 -
The most fun this game can get is face a jump scare Myers, I feel sad that are so feel of them...
12 -
Don't worry, I also hate scratched mirror, I find it really unfun to play against.
Just hold W and vault a few windows, it's hard for him to catch up.
2 -
Most of the time Mirror Myers only works on Indoor Maps. IMO it only works really well on Lerys (and maybe The Game), so if you see an Indoor Map burned and it is a Myers, you should expect Scratched Mirror. So hiding etc. does not really work.
If they burn The Game, you can loop Myers for Ages. Dont drop the Pallets until you are injured, just use the Speed Boost from a Hit, Mirror Myers is really slow and Pallets on The Game are very safe, so he will have a hard time catching you. If they burn Midwich, hold W and even those bad Pallets in the Rooms are decent against him. If they burn Hawkins, try to use the Rooms where stairs lead Upstairs, Myers will have a hard time catching you there.
When healing, do it next to a Pallet where you have clear vision to all sides so that he cannot jumpscare you.
In general, Mirror Myers can be a lot of fun to go against, if they just dont use their lack of Terror Radius to camp.
2 -
Tier 1 Michael Myers are the best trials! Like another poster has stated, I wish more killer mains used it. Spidey Sense (Spine Chill) is a good perk to use and I would pair with Sprint Burst to exploit his lack of speed.
5 -
Yeah i agree.
Also don't forget the fact that T1 Myers has no TR and BT doesn't work. If he stands next to you and you have no DS you're pretty muched screwed.
At least this happened to me the last 2 times i played against a scratched mirror myers.

My favorite thing to face for one reason: The gg ez looping.
Once you know he's using it, keep yourself healed when possible or always have an escape route while paying attention to where he might come from, as soon as you can make it too a loop it's game over for him unless he's got play with your food. As long as you can somewhat loop efficiently, the addon is a joke and has to rely on the jumpscares which again, just be prepared for.
0 -
He’s slow so don’t let him zone you. Use windows and pallets to loop if safe, and make distance where you can. Play safe. Do objectives in more open areas where you can see him coming.
And do everything in your power not to go down because if you do you’re getting camped to death. I hate this add on too for this and many other reasons.

You hold W and do gens, and you also don't stay injured. Are you gonna have fun? Absolutely not. But Scratched Mirror is a terrible add-on that is only good for getting adept, because you'll be starting and "winning" a lot of chases and getting a lot of free hits.

In the three years of playing this game I only encountered this add on once. It is very rare. An infinite Tier 3 is more common and even that is in my opinion not a huge threat if survivors aren't feeding him his stalk.
Scratched Mirror is more of a gimmick build and I honestly don't mind if Myers wins with it. I think it is very funny and refreshing.
I don't really understand how someone could hate Scratched Mirror but I respect your opinion nevertheless.
Listen to his breathing and footsteps. Myers is pretty loud when he approachs. This and flicking your camera the whole time is probably the only way to dodge his hit when you don't have Spine Chill.
And honestly...just enjoy the jumpscares. This is the only time when DBD is actually a horror game.

As a person who plays a LOT of the Spooky Myers build, I can assure you that it can be countered. You just can't play against it the same way you do against the others:
- Don't spend all your time in Stealth Mode. It is pointless.
- Use open ground and good lines of sight to see him coming.
- Spine Chill is useful but trust me it will not take the place of keeping your head on a swivel.
- Loop him. He is terrible at it.
- Be prepared for the Mind Game, that is most of what he has going for him.
- Beware Insta-Down Perks. I make use of Make Your Choice, Iron Maiden, Haunted Ground, etc.
- He is the bane of SWF because they share info and he makes it harder to triangulate him with no Terror Radius.
- Don't assume he is camping; he probably isn't. He doesn't have to. He can time his return to the hook to meet you.
- Don't heal at the hook, chances are he is watching you to see which way you go or will just hit you there.
- Spread way out on whatever map it is once you determine his type. He cannot be everywhere at once or keep up.
Playing against a Spooky Myers is fun, although if you don't adapt, you will die.

As a follow up, I want to tell you what Maps are actually GOOD for Spooky Myers. There are more of them than you might think. I'll put them in the order of my preference:
- Gideon (The Game)
- Hawkins
- Midwich
- Lerys
- Swamp Maps
Then there are the neutral maps.
- Japanese Maps
- About half the Corn maps.
- Haddonfield (Believe it or not Spooky Build does well here and can force a 3-Gen very easily).
- About 1/3 of the McMillian Maps
All the Rest are bad news.
1 -
Here's a list:
-Most jumpscare Myers players bring a map offering, bring a sacrificial ward.
-Use Spine Chill
-Use Sole Survivor as someone else said
-When in a loop, hold W
-Avoid short sight lines
-Don't go for tall areas if you don't have balanced landing
-If you're in a SWF, have a lookout
-Myers will usually have to give up chase the moment he hits you so he doesn't waste time. Use a medkit.
You don't have to do all of these, I'm only spitballing here.

T1 Myers is barely faster than you, just running directly away from him will take up a huge chunk of his time. His lunge range is practically nothing as well. Don't try to hide at all as he can constantly see you when stalking. Keep checking every way he can come from while on a gen or healing so he doesn't get the drop on you.

I cannot imagine hating one of the most fun killer builds to both play as and against. The jump scares are the best.
He has plenty of counters. A good jump scare Myers won't try and chase for long because its not a chaser build. Its a surprise attack build. Though a professional Myers will have PWYF and with two or three stacks they might chase. When I do spooky Mikey I also use sloppy butcher so they either take a hundred years to heal themselves, or they stay injured and one shot.

Just run in a straight line and don't blindly run around corners. He is 105 in EW1 and can't get bloodlust, literally the only way he can get you is by a jumpscare so just don't give him the chance.
Spine Chill and Calm Spirit also crush SM Myers. The former is obvious, but the later is not. Basically, since you don't disturb crows that means anytime you hear a crow go off around you it is A) another survivor, B) the killer. If it's a stealth killer just always assume it's the killer and since you know both the direction and distance you can easily avoid them. It is ESPECIALLY effective against SM Myers because they will always offer Lery's (if they don't they are stupid), and Lery's is nothing but crows everywhere.
Force him to chase you and play extra safe, equip some perks, and it's not a problem.
Infinite EW on the other hand...
1 -
I wont recommend perks bc who equips perks thinking of 1 addon that completely changes the killer.
1-You can get a clue that scratched mirror is coming by the indoor map offering from the killer. It's gonna be either a stealth or a doc, overall a low mobility killer. Knowing that the jump scares a less scary.
2-Avoid corners or places with low visibility. Go do the middle of the open area, you'll have full visibility when he is coming, he will take a long time to catch even if you just run in a straight line.
3-Took a hit? heal in the open. Myers has to hit an run be effective and being healthy allows you to go for reckless plays and unsafe gens.
4-Don't get grabbed <= Golden Rule, stay aware of your surroundings.
5-Hug loops tight. Scratched mirror Myers has almost no lunge and if you can loop effectively, he will take a long time to catch you.

I agree with your advice about the crows, but not about Lerys. Spooky Myers is my main, i.e. the build I do more than any other. Of the various indoor maps, Lerys is at the bottom of my list of preference because it has so many vaults, turns, and several loops that Spooky simply cannot beat. Gideon and Midwich are wonderful because I can hack through the floor and follow my targets to drop on them from above or wait for them to drop to me. It is much easier to deceive Spine Chill on Gideon and Midwich. Hawkins is easier to sweep and is not overrun with vaults (although it does have the many rooms with up and downs).
The shape of Lerys is also inconvenient to me. It is just long enough that I cannot cover both far ends, so clever Survivors can break up in a way that makes it very difficult to keep up pressure. If you compare this to Gideon, Hawkins, and Midwich it is no contest. A simple serpentine in the courtyard of Midwich will tell me where EVERYONE is within seconds. Gideon, likewise requires a slightly longer serpentine in a diagonal across the square. Hawkins is long but only has a few Generators at one far end that are a pain to defend anyway and have the strongest loops. I only fight for them if convenient. The rest of the map I can cover easily and always know where everyone is located. Do you see my point? Lerys is better than some massive outdoor map, without a doubt, but of the smaller, indoor maps, it is the least efficiently patrolled by Spooky.

Sorry but against competent survivors you are NEVER going to catch them on Game or Midwich. They are far too open to actually jumpscare anyone. Game has an endless supply of pallets, and you can't chase. Midwich, literally all I have to do is hold forward and run in a circle around the map. I don't even need to use a pallet, the time it would take for you to catch up would be an entire game. And I can see you coming a mile away. Lery's is the ONLY map where you'd have a chance against good survivors with SM. IDC if he is your main, SM Myers is SUPER easy to beat on Midwich and Game without Spine Chill. Lerys has a lot of vaults and pallets, but it also let's you move around unseen and provides you the most cover. It's the only map where a survivor would need something like Spine Chill or Calm Spirit or Premonition to consistently avoid you.

Well, I beg to differ. I fight against Red Ranks (with the odd Purple thrown in now and then) almost exclusively. And I 3-4K there MOST of the time (Midwich). I'm sure some of the people on this Forum have played against me there. :) The truth is I don't chase; I intercept. I think a lot of the people I play against are pretty good. You are assuming they are not; an assumption which I don't think is fair to them. I adore Midwich as Spooky Myers. I wish it would come up on the Blood Web more often.

Dude SM Myers is already a gimmick. All you need to do is run forward or to any sort of loop and he can't catch you. As long as you play safe he can't actually sneak up on you. On Game or Midwich it's not even a challenge to beat, on Lery's it can be difficult but still it's not very good.
I think you're just not playing against competent survivors, or survivors that understand what SM Myers can do.

Well, I'm sure we will end up in a match sometime and you can show me the error of my ways. Until then, we will have to agree to disagree.

Post again it would be funny please

For some reason, he seems to play well at Dead Dawg Saloon too

Scratched mirror myers is fun to go against as a survivor. All you need to know is that he can't catch up to you easily and would be actively trying to cut you off so just position yourself accordingly with that in mind. Windows and pallets are his enemy.
Always do generators at the side where you have ample enough time to react if he comes heck I would argue the Middle generator in lerry is actually the safest part in the map. The windows there would give myers a head ache if you can react fast enough.

Scratched Mirror is awesome dude. Jump Scares are the best part of this game, I much rather fight Stealth Myers than do another round of chase tag.
As for countering him.... generally Stealth Myers is only a problem on Lery's. Most other maps you can see him coming a mile away. Just keep your eyes peeled. If you are actually in a chase Scratched Mirror is a liability because he's stuck in T1, so he doesn't move as fast. This means it's a lot easier to loop him.
Just work on your looping game. Stealth Myers is one of the easiest killers to loop.

You're supposed to reply to him, not post another comment on your own thing.

I feel personally attacked rn. Today was the first time I did jumpscare Myers lol.
1 -
Really? The Spooky Myers build? I've never had any luck with him there. For me, it is way too open, and almost impossible to sneak up on anyone. I get looped to death there.

Hopefully you'll do many more. Its such a fun build to face. And play.

My first three words, 'That's pretty sound,' was a response to him, followed by idle conversation.

I was legit triggered until I realized what number it would make.
Nice.

No indication of a separate conversation. Even separating it into different paragraphs wouldn't help. That's why it's important to reply to someone directly.

Yeah, it's super weird dude. I run Spine Chill and can usually see him coming and where he is going, but the others get snuck on and hooked, then things snowball from there. Perma Tier 3 Myers does the best though.

I play survivor more then killer as of late, and I absolutely Love scratched mirror builds. Myers is the only stealth killer I love to face as he just freaks me out the most. Pig is just random and ghost face players seem to on average have a chip on their shoulder, but myers players 9 times out of 10 are fun as hell and great at scaring the ######### out of me in the most fun way possible.
The coolmikeshow is a great twitch channel and that guy runs that build all the time and just has so much fun with it. When he plays against streamers he goes out of his way to get good jump scare moments to add to his "scare of the week" clips he saves.
everything about Myers is what I love about this game (maybe tombstone is a bit much, but I still find it amusing)
1 -
I'm on ps4 and just went against a cross play peekaboo Myers that was fast af. No add ons to make him move faster but caught up to sprint burst immediately. Gotta love small pp hackers
1 -
Yeah. Look around.
I dont get posts like this, i mean you literally had one game where you lost and are like "this is living hell" even though he's weaker than with the mirror than he is in base form.
Luckily for you tho this dbd and even the most petty of killer complaints have an answer, what if i told you there existed a perk that completely counters all stealth killers?
0 -
you can hear him breathing. You also could do with playing some more killer to better judge how long it takes for a tier one Myers to reach you if he's just hooked someone or revealed himself in some way.
Other tips:
- basically never drop pallets; just keep looping indefinitely because he can't catch up without PWYF.
- Never assume he's not looking at you, so if you've put yourself in a safe spot, stay there until you're sure he's gone. Alternatively, you could pretend like you're leaving to bait him to come to you.
- Try perks like Bond or Empathy to track survivor movements in response to him.
- Pay attention to crows as survivor. If one goes off, and you're not confident it's a survivor, start moving (<- this is how I survived and enjoyed playing against Prayer Beads Spirit when that was still scary).
- If you're using OoO, you can always tell his general direction.
- If you're using Sole Survivor (which I did one match against the Myers build), start laughing.
- Spine Chill shouldn't work against him for balance purposes, but it does :,(
0 -
Imagine being afraid of an addon that is countered by holding W.
1 -
Spine Chill is a really all around good perk. Just don't get lazy and make sure to position yourself to where you can see where the killer might approach from. I'll sometimes try to sneak away from a gen because Spine Chill lit up and then find myself walking into Ghost Face's knife.
It is also good against Spirit. If it lights up, walk towards the direction that you think the Spirit will approach from, not away. She usually phases right through you and will spend time looking around the gen and trees while you're sneaking away to another gen.
