Why does Killer Instinct work through lockers?
I know lockers only block auras, but why don't they also block Killer Instinct?
Like why should Legion be able to tell exactly which locker you're hiding in just because he stabbed a guy?

Why should survivors pick up a pallet just because they have a perk? I have really never heard someone complain about Killer Instinct on Legion. I can't even begin to create an argument for it because it's something so... not annoying.
28 -
I thought it didn't.
1 -
It does. In cases where there's only two survivors remaining, a Legion can just Frenzy hit one survivor, then use Killer Instinct to find the last one even if they're inside a locker.
I just came out of a game where this happened 5 times so the killer could get a 4k. It's pretty silly.
2 -
That probably why Legion keeps killing you!
Or you can run to the other side of the map outside Legion's terror radius and do the gen there.
You can play around Legion's power. It's definitely annoying but it's fine Legion needs his detection to get his kills. Legion is the least deadly killer in the entire game but at least he excels at finding survivors.
12 -
I never hide in lockers during frenzy, that's why I wasn't sure of the interaction. Just hold W to outlast its duration and stay somewhat spread apart.
3 -
Well yeah I played around his power 5 times like I mentioned. Stayed outside his radius every time he activated it. But eventually he finds you because he narrows down your position with Killer Instinct.
I just want to know why lockers aren't allowed to block his wallhacks. How's it make sense that stabbing a survivor tells you precisely where another survivor is hiding?
2 -
Not that many killers have killer instinct and this doesn't really affect other killers apart from legion (you can occasionally find a survivor in a locker if they're close enough to a demo portal but that's rare)
This would mostly just be a legion nerf, which isn't really needed. They have less tracking ability using their power than spirit does using hers, so any survivor in an area with multiple lockers could just vanish whenever they like.
3 -
How dare a Legion use their ability effectively! Like seriously, who is out here complaining about Legion knowing you're in a locker?
- Why are you in a locker? Unless you're dodging bbq or the killer is searching a nearby a gen you were on, why are you in a locker?
- Literally just get out of the locker. If you're jay-chilling in a locker and see a deep wound bar appear followed by a terror radius, GET OUT OF THE LOCKER. Chances are you could probably outrun the Legion before they can hit you.
7 -
Because Killer Instinct is something different than Auras. It was designed to be that way, it is not an oversight or anything. If Devs would have want that you can hide from Legion in Lockers, they would have made Feral Frenzy work with Auras and Survivors not affected by the Deep Wound-State would be shown as Auras instead of Killer Instinct.
4 -
That’s just what Killer Instinct does. There’s no immunity to it. It’s why it’s highly conditional for the killers that have access to that effect.
9 -
It’s an instinct. An accurate one at that.
In a frenzy, you look at a locker and think, “oh, someone might be in there. I wanna grab’em and kill’em.”
That’s how I think of it, anyways.
2 -
Because if it didn't Legion would be an even bigger joke.
5 -
Because it's part of the ability and effect that it does?
If you're looking for some lore reason I am sure we could make one up for you. "The entity just amplifies your heart beat sounds for the killer, thus even in a locker your heart is still beating and he can hear it" There, that good?
6 -
It's because it only blocks aura's. Even the bubble notification from infectious fright or Rancor will show you in lockers...
2 -
"Looking at a locker" Yeah, maybe that'd make sense.
*Locker is 32 meters away and your Instinct tells you a survivor is in there* Not so much.
0 -
It's a fantasy horror game don't worry about things making sense.
Remember that Legion was created at a time when lockers didn't hide auras at all. He was designed to be able to find survivors even when they are in lockers.
4 -
Fair enough, lol
0 -
You're comparing a killer's baseline mechanic to a survivor's perk.
0 -
Of you go down the rabbit hole of "this thing doesn't make logical sense because that doesn't work in the real world" you'll never stop.
"Why does stabbing a guy let you know where other nearby people are?"
"Why does opening a map let you see the auras of things you've been near before? Maps IRL don't do that!"
Why can I mend a deep wound by myself, but regular injuries require backrubs from somebody else to heal? That's not how medicine works!"
2 -
Consider this; Legion can't see scratches or blood, finds hearing grunts of pain and other noises difficult due to the distorted sounds and music, and his power is a nonlethal ability that requires quick, 10 second chaining to be anywhere near useful.
If lockers hid killer instinct, all you would have to do is slow enter a locker; hell, even quick and quiet into one, when someone gets frenzy stabbed. Legion would not be able to chain hits, and thus, would have no power. Legion isn't anywhere near a good killer to begin with, this just seems like wanting to have your cake and eating it too to me.
4 -
Because it's not aura killer instinct is simply the sense that a target is around.
Also stop going into lockers if you keep getting found by legions in feral frenzy
3 -
Legion was released alongside the update that made lockers hide aura granted they were in development long before then but you get the Drift
0 -
Yes let's nerf one of the worst killers even more
Might as well not let killers hit people anymore while we at it....
5 -
He asked a question, please learn the differences between complaining and asking a question
3 -
Yeah I understand that, the one thing I don't like about his power since we're discussing it is that it shouldn't work on someone that was newly rescued. it's the one thing that really sucks, you get rescued and then of course The Legion comes back to the area, finds your rescuer hits them and then knows exactly where you're at. I know how to play against his power, but sometimes you're not always able to get far enough away to avoid triggering KI. Or you are rescued by someone that decided to go in the same direction you did lol

Because it's different from Aura reading? It's a different type of tracking; on Legion, it's fine. The only place where I take issue with it is on the Twins, tbh. Legion needs the tracking to be able to actually do their job.
0 -
Forgive me. I've come to read "why should X be allowed to do Y?" as complaining, cuz 9 times outta 10 that's how it is.
0 -
I for one think it's extremely necesarry for it to work in Lockers! Although most killers with Killer Instinct like Ghostface, Demo, or Twins have it, it's very rare that they can actually make much use of it. Maybe Twins is a minor exception.
However Killer Instinct is an integral part of Legion's basekit! They'd be nothing without it! And if the direct counter to Legion was for everyone to hop in a locker whenever they see the bleedout timer begin on a teammate, Legion would be the worst killer in the game hands down.
Furthermore, I'm not 100% sure, but I think Killer Instinct was this brand new mechanic when they released Legion as this Killer that can "see in lockers" that can really shake things up. It's most likely why Iron Maiden was even a perk for Legion (increased locker opening speeds + Exposed after leaving a locker).
Legion's Frenzy is by FAR from being overpowered as Legion loses the extremely important ability to see Scratch Marks. Stay away from their Terror Radius and if you're in it, run away from it.
Basically, Killer Insinct should let Killers aee through lockers because it doesn't pinpoint an exact location if far away and if Lockers countered it, it would make Legion completely useless.
And furthermore... They cannot tell if you're in a locker from 32m away. Killers (except Huntress when she has a certain add-on/is out of Hatchets) cannot see the aura of Lockers. They can tell if you're in a locker if they notice the Killer Instinct symbol not moving while they're getting closer.
Killer Instinct, unlike Aura reading, does not say crap about who is there and what their health state is, and most importantly, if they're in a locker from a distance.

Is it really that big of a deal? Legion is already a lower-tier killer, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.
0 -
Legion is right in the middle of the pack in terms of kill efficiency, even among the best players. There's no way I can construe Legion as "weakest" given the data I have.
7 -
Your data also says Nurse is the weakest...
28 -
Well, seeing as the data BHVR has shared with us technically shows that Nurse is the worst Killer in the game, I'd say the data is kind of flawed. IMO Legion is a high B tier Killer, no question.
5 -
Why are you so much afraid about touching the Legion? Just rework their power. They're absolutely unfun to play as and against with their 4 seconds stun cooldown and mend simulator.
6 -
I'm not gonna mindlessly bash you like some other people, but Legion FEELS terrible to play as and against and, as I'm sure you know, data does not always tell the full story, else we'd be getting a Nurse buff
12 -
About that, will we have a data release just like last time in the near future? I'm super interested about em.
1 -
No offense almo..but the data you guys have to work with..I wouldn't trust it if my life depended on it..I feel this game has taken a step away from the future because of it..the experiment isn't properly set up so the results will never be proper either

=)
devs might implement that in a near update.

So how about buffing nurse with her abysmal KR if that's your logic?
I mean her KR is so low its the only one below the 2/2(50%) target AND even cuts off part of her portrait on the stats unlike anyone else.
By no means to insult you but this contradicts what you guys have said about nurse and her KR.
3 -
Sooo...nurse buff when?
1 -
They do not. Nurse is weak averaged across all players, even across ranks 1-4. But when considering the very best players, she's top tier. Not quite #1, but close.
Keep in mind I have access to way more information. The periodic snapshots we share are because they are interesting, not because they are the sole criteria by which we balance things.
8 -
What criteria do your stats use to determine what this "very best" category of players is? Rank? MMR? Playtime?
Assuming you even told the truth about measuring "the very best players"—which, just saying, I'm very skeptical—Whatever the method of measurement is, I can guarantee you, it's wholly inaccurate to what actually goes on in a match with good players, bad players, throwers, sweatlords, and all the variables that simply cannot be taken into account with base numbers alone.
Evidence: So are all of the stats that have ever been released to the playerbase.
What I'm trying to say is: The stats you have aren't nearly as good of a measurement as you think they are. This game has far too many variables and far too little separation between casual and competitive, good and bad, fun-oriented and sweaty players for basic kill rate stats to be an accurate tracker. STOP USING THEM TO DETERMINE IF A KILLER IS GOOD. THEY DON'T DO A GOOD JOB OF TELLING YOU.
8 -
Like why should survivors be able to hide their aura from me just because they are in a locker?
0 -
I mean...you were the dumb one hiding in lockers vs a legion. Get good at looping maybe?
1 -
No the data says that Nurse has the lowest average survivor kill ratio. That's not the same thing as weakest killer. Now if you feel that those stats are proof that Nurse is weak, that tells me that you don't understand how to apply statistics and context to understand what they mean.

I am really frustrated with communities circle ... pats on the back. Like they come up with an opinion that's based off of a few influentual people and they bind onto that narrative and when there's actual statistical based information provided and they realize it doesn't match their world view they just retort that the systems rigged rather than reevaluate their opinions or ask themselves why their hypothesis doesn't match up with evidence. Did these guys get an education? SMH
1 -
The entire point of this mechanic is that you aren't meant to be able to hide from the killer, period.
3 -
Thank you!
0 -
don´t hide in a locker then
0 -
yes for survivors getting picked out of a locke 5 TIMES
0 -
Your data is wrong then. This is the problem with looking only at the data and not at the entire picture.
You should be data INFORMED not data DRIVEN.
