Question for other solo survivors

What do you when no joke, 90% of your games, your teammates just stop playin?

Game after game after game after game, all three teammates stop doing gens with 1-2 to go, and I'm the only person trying while injured. I die constantly because of this.

I can't 1v1 the killer when no one else is doing anything.

This is honestly most of my games and I'm so tired of being in unwinnable situations because my teammates literally will not play the game.

They didn't stop playing, they just stopped doing gens, which isn't quite the same.

If you're finding that that's how people play in your neck of the woods, "Do as the Romans do" as they say. When there's only 2 gens to go start playing it safe and wait for someone to get chased before working on a gen.

What these survivors are doing is exactly the same: they are waiting for someone to get caught before taking teh risk, because in this game chances are the survivor being chased when there's only 1-2 gens left is the survivor who dies, or at least the one who is on the hook when the gates light up. And as you know when the gates light up the killer's best strategy is to camp.

If it really bothers you play with a selfish build. Take Left Behind, Plunderer and Appraisal and wait it out. If your team dies no biggie you can find the hatch after they all die.

I'm at the point where I purposely get found just to get out of these games. I am not going to stand near a gen that's already done and wait for the killer to happen upon my three Urban Evading, Spine Chill teammates who aren't doing anything.

This has always happened occasionally but lately its MOST of my games and I'm so tired of it.

You go "WEEEEEEE" and run around the place trying to have fun. Sometimes I gotta be like "nope, I'm gonna have fun now, screw it". It's hard sometimes though

I played 3 solo q games on Sunday and got 1 hooked in 2 of them. It's just a crapshoot. I have an unhealthy affinity for prove thyself and kindred. They help my team as well myself. Lord knows solo groups need all the help they can get.

I don't even have faith that i can cleanse more than 3 totems and live. Definitely look out for that hatch once the math works out :/

So I tried it. One gen to go, three fully healed teammates, I'm the only one injured and doing gens, as always. It's been eight minutes. One person has died. One is slugged, the other just got hooked. He immediately closed hatch because of course one of my teammates I'm sure was camping it.

I could be 8 minutes into waiting for my next game by now.

I just do not see how refusing to work on gens isn't playing the game.

Not much you can do other than hide too. Everyone is just aiming for hatch at that point.

Yeah I tried it. It made the game last 10 minutes longer and we all died. Shocking that when survivors stop playing, the killer wins. I'm just going to kill myself immediately as I have been doing. It's a waste of my time when no one else plays.

This honestly is such a good answer

lf the game looks like it’s slipping away, go out in style, some games you just don’t want to put on a headband and a set of joggers and sweat it out.

The best thing to do as a solo is gen jockey because there's no guarantee your group is going to be doing them. It can mean the difference between an escape and a depip. So if I'm on gens and my team just derped out I still have Objective points. I'll go run in and unhook as many as I can for Altruism points, which usually gets me into a chase so I last as long as I can for chaser points.

An easier way to say all that is...when all is lost, do things that getcha points.

I'm usually being chased and I'm pretty good at it, that's how I know all my teammates are doing nothing. Not only do I know I've bought them enough time, but when I'm finally downed, all three are just standing still doing nada. You're definitely right though - most of the time your groups is NOT doing gens. I just get found first a lot so I'd have to completely change how I play this game. I think my best option is to just die and get out. In these situations if I don't finish the gen, no one does. Most of the time I can't because I'm already injured and my teammates are doing nothing.

Honestly I find a lot of survivor to be RNG because 3/4 of what happens is out of your control in the truest sense. Pipping is up to the individual player, while escaping is a team effort. Be not ashamed of the sacrifice, for sometimes it is your salvation.

Useless teams are the reason I rarely play survivor these days. There's nothing you can do if your entire team refuses to do gens.

You could try Left Behind+Plunderers so you can possibly find a key and see the hatch aura if you manage to survive the others but other than that the killer basically just gets the win.

It isn't. You can escape the match without touching a single gen. And there are builds and playstyles specialized towards doing that if you feel like playing like a prick.

Also if you're getting caught first in most of your games that may also mean the rest of the team is playing safe at the start of the game as well. You do gens, you are the one who gets found 90% of the time if the rest are hiding. This is highly unusual and highly unlikely, though. I mean I've had it happen maybe once every twenty games at best but if it's constantly happening to you something else is up. Either you live in a country where everyone is a rat bastard or you've got the worst luck don't ever play at the casino.

Hey dude, Im playing survivor 90% solo and only 10% with my best friend in duo SWF. Ive got 2k hours in playing survivor and the same time for killer. That means I feel u and know these problems about bad random mates :3 Ive a survival rate of maybe 50% average, but I dont care about it tbh. I try always to have a good game and I always get to rank 1 every season. Most of my matches I do 2-3 gens, cuz I cant rely on my random mates. I really dont wanna complain, but the quality of random mates has decreased since u got resetted to rank 5 and not 10 and since survivors has to do rift quests like "do 100 totems and 50 safe unhooks in a trial etc." ^^

First of all I would suggest to use kindred since it has become an absolutely must have perk for solo survivor. It´s like BBQ&Chili and increases the chance to get rescued by your teammates. And it decreases the chance that 0 people or 3 people are coming to u on the same time, while insidious bubba is waiting for them XD

If the survivors are walking around like a decapitated chicken or just doing nothing useful, there's not much you can do about it. Try always to give ur best. Do gens or try to get better at wasting the killer's time.

Its called bad players, find a 4 man to play with. 95% of the survivor playerbase play with a blindfold on.

So your advice for when all three teammates stop playing and wait for someone else to finish the gen is to do gens or be chased? That's exactly what happens and I die. Then if I take to the time to spectate, the killer gets a very slow and boring 4k because no one is playing anymore. But yeah I agree Kindred is a good perk for solo survivors. Doesn't help my main problem though and that's that most of my teammates in most of my games will not play after a certain point.

You could start running Bond to see what your teammates are doing. Use it to find them and follow them around until they start helping out.

Run Bond, find your teammates and follow them around. Maybe bring Diversion to throw pebbles in their direction (Diversion makes a noise notification 20 meters away, and even Bond tier 1 shows where a teammate is within 20 meters). Along with that, run Self Care and Botany so you aren't injured. Or Iron Will, though you'll still bleed and a decent killer will notice blood on the ground.

Also, this ^. As a solo survivor, I have to find my own ways to have fun. Escaping is rare for me, so if I put any stock in that then I might as well roll around on a bed of nails instead and get the pain over with quicker. If it gets really bad and the games are just totally miserable, I either switch to killer or I play a different game entirely.

    meatisadelicacy Member Posts: 1,920

I've learned that most people are genuinely so bad at this game it's not even funny, and they have to rely entirely on stealth to have any chance at escaping. I am pretty good at being chased so when the game loads in, I start running. I try to cleanse a totem before I touch a gen because I hate NOED and most of the time people don't cleanse. I honestly prefer being chased first because I know I can keep the killer busy for a while, and chances are my teammates won't be able to. The stealth play style bores me to death.

I don't mind getting caught first. I don't mind dying. What's happening in most of my games is that all the teammates just stop. Sometimes they stop working on gens with three to go. I do mind that.

When I did what they did to see what would happen, it took 10 minutes for the killer to find and kill all of us. Dear god, why would anyone want to play like that? I'm not going to go to a haunted house and then sit in the parking lot because I'm too scared to go in. I'm not going to not play DBD because it's scary - that's the point. I guess there's no good solution because the best I can find is to kill myself on purpose to get out of these games that are a total waste of time.

    Bartlaus Member Posts: 1,027

I know this advice is not satisfying but yes, it is still better than doing nothing imo. Even if there is no chance to finish the gens, cuz the killer catches u up, u get at least some blood points and can finally start a new match, while the other two guys are urban evading around the map and take the killer hostage for hours :'D

  • meatisadelicacy
    meatisadelicacy Member Posts: 1,920

Yes. I know they're bad. I've had seven different friends quit this game because match making was so miserable for us. I don't mind solo queueing it's just been happening so much lately that I'm getting very frustrated.

Bad players are mostly in low ranks. When you get to red ranks those kinds of players disappear. You can't reach red ranks if you play hiding in a corner urban evading all game. There are still potatos in red ranks (I'm one of them) but not on the level you describe.

If you're experiencing this kind of play constantly even in red ranks there is definitely a problem in your country! It's full of rat bastards.

Happens to me too, time and again. A lot of survivors are allergic to gens, mostly because "gens are boring" and they "just want to have some fun". But if it doesnt work out, they call the killer op and complain about not having enough bloodpoints.

  • Jed
    Jed Member Posts: 254

Yeah I've pretty much always been a solo survivor and have experienced exactly the same thing. I dont think it really happens that often (maybe more like 20%) but when it does I guess it just depends on my mood what I do next. Sometimes I just keep working on gens until i can open the gates or the killer finds me (and usually kills me). Other times I will try to get as many points as I can and complete my other objectives. Then there are times I just wait a see what happens. I dont talk crap afterwards, just check the stats and go "oh I see" then leave.

My favorite is when I am using Kindred and am hooked. killer is camping and the solo q stars still won't get on a gen. they run around like chickens.

It can be hard, but one thing that might be happening is you've gotten down to the last few generators and your allies simply cannot find them. I had a game last night with my friends and we got down to the last 3 generators and we knew where one was because it is a fixed spawn on the map and the other two were a huge annoyance.

Yes, it can look like they are doing nothing... and maybe they are if they are just hiding behind a rock... but sometimes it's a matter of being unable to find them. I had a map last night where an entire quadrant of the map didn't have a single generator in it and I didn't even know that was possible. Sure makes it easy for the Killer to patrol.

That's why I stopped playing survivor, because I can only play it solo, and switched to killer. Killer is more fun than solo survivor, but DEVs don't admit that something must be done with solo, SWF is so much more easier to play than solo. Solo is just frustrating 80% of the games.

i dunno why people feel the need to escape over anything else. all that time they spent hiding in a corner they could have got themselvs a pip by acually doing actions. Console players are the worst for this

    a) I start running builds where I literally don't expect to win with my team. Like a locker/loot/sandbag/hatchescape build.

Something where I have some fun, not focusing on doing things right and efficient in order to carry my team to the campfire.

    b) Just doing things to grab some points and if I have a chance to kill myself on the hook I'll take this glory chance of escape. Kinda ironic. In this case, death is an escape, from those l..guys.

    c) switching to killer. I enjoy Legion and Clown very much. Survivors became as bad as Killer were in 2016 so even with Legion it's goddamn easy to make one 4k by another. And those two are pretty fun to play as (im scared for the clown rework, like him how he is now)

    d) Watching other streamers getting tilted.

I agree. I'm on console and it's infuriating. I don't play crossplay because I have no desire to go against someone who has an advantage with hardware but I am losing my mind.

It's at the point now where when we get to four gens, I know the game is over. I just had a game where AGAINST A WRAITH my teammates let the first person hooked go into struggle while I was being chased, and with one gen to go, when I went down because I was working on gens injured, my two fully healed teammates WERE ALREADY IN LOCKERS

I am not joking that almost all of my games are like this. The game ends with four people alive and one gen to go because everyone except me stops doing gens.

  • meatisadelicacy
    meatisadelicacy Member Posts: 1,920

I have been having more fun playing killer lately. I just don't get why people play the game and yet refuse to play the game after a certain point. I used to think, "One gen left, four of us alive, we're cruising, baby!" But every game is just a slow, miserable experience now once four gens are done.

they are on hook 2 or 3 , with fewer gen to patrol, possibly 3 gen themselves and either all want the hatch or are swf using you as bait while they wait to tbag the killer if theyf ound akey
