Thats messed up
So apparently if you get hacked any punishment is your fault. I'm not going to explain any of this for if I actually discuss the reason behind it ill break the forum rules. But @RandomKid i am sorry you had to deal with that utter drivel and I wish that some people had better rules. But I also suggest you dont talk about it anymore.

The problem is that there is no way to verify if someone got "hacked" or not. Thus, responsibility for not getting hacked has to fall on that person to take the appropriate precautions. Consider this, when the DEV implemented Bans for disconnecting there was a explosion of people claiming how it was a system crash, out of their control, and so on. If the DEV were to accept their word for it, policing and discouraging the behavior would be impossible because very single person was claiming they didn't do it on purpose.
Saying somebody hacked me, is likewise a go to defense for someone. If they were truly hacked and go through the proper procedures to show proof (and provide it) things will get handled. Sadly, nine times out of ten, people just say, "I was hacked."

I mean its a stupid thing if you have a behaviour account implemented like people suggested for cross progression you could just monitor an account after a report AND they took auric cells away from people after the first rift had that bug so they obviously can remove things and see accounts so how would it be hard to just accept somebodies word and then see of they recieve currency in insane amounts or items?

Nope; that is not the world we live in. There are procedures and avenues for people who are actually hacked to follow. If people choose not to do them, that is on them. The sad part is a few rotten apples often spoil the barrel for everyone else. Due to those bad apples, claiming they were hacked, or didn't disconnect, etc. (lying) we live in a world where we cannot just accept anyone at their word.

From Steams ToS - it's very clear that your account is your responsibility. This is the same for all platforms, hence I would always advise never to give your information to anyone and to always have 2 factor authentication on.

But what if your account is hacked through dbd servers and of no fault your own? In MW2 back in the day it was out of your control and there are hacks where if you just enter the same lobby as someone you could be stuck with the hack and have to reset your system or even sometimes being stuck with the result if it was a progression hack, There should be a way to determine that on BHVRs end where it starts

I don't know the circumstances around any of this, but, generally speaking for all things Steam and otherwise: If you aren't using a strong randomized password and two-factor authentication where possible, then you didn't take enough steps to secure your account.
Now, I think that the companies behind our online platforms should be held more responsible than they generally are for breaches, because a lot of them are more lax about security policies than they reasonably ought to be. But we live in an age where you should assume that account compromises are a "when," not an "if," and you should take every step possible to guard against it.

DDOS coconut went up against one who linked his account to noob3 banned account and he hacked big time. He also followed coconutrts to is I next lobby and when he dodged he changed name and got on his next. Hacking dc penalties as well so hacking into an account isn't out of the realm of possibilites and if anything hacking through dbd shouldn't YOU guys be liable?

@Komodo16 You were talking about a specific case where someone's account was hacked via Steam - which is what I've answered to. I'm not in a position to discuss a hypothetical hacking situation through our servers as that has never happened and there's no precedent for it. That would be an issue to be taken up with Support.

But isn't that how the hacking works? DDOS was a big thing and im fairly sure it wasn't steam at large hell maybe it was but you can't deny that easy anti cheat is horrible

The liability of a personal account is on the user. In the case that you mentioned that is a steam account so the owner would have to go through steams process to get it back.
When it comes to hacking in any game this is an endless cycle as they are made to break system hence the word hack. Now these are constantly being looked at but they need to first be found, deconstructed and then a fix implemented. Its not an easy process with some. No online game is ever free of hacks and they can only ever try to stop them as quickly as possible when they find them.
Basically ones account security is down to yourself and if you are hacked then the responsibility is on yourself. That is unless a company puts there hands up and acknowledges there is an issue but that is only done if there are an abundance of accounts being banned so its 100% clear.

Here's the deal:
From what I'm hearing, this is a Steam hack, not a BHVR/DBD hack.
If this is the case, then the topic should be brought up to Valve/Steam's tech support guys, not the guys running the game most impacted by the hack.

I'm asking how they don't know the problem is on their end? Back in the day entering the same lobby as a hacking player could in turn make your account hacked , I'm just saying with these lost progress posts I've seen and with situations like this one it makes you wonder if it's on their end and not the user in question, just a week ago I saw a guy make a post about all his characters being reset to 1 but his devotion was still the same which is exactly how the old progress hacks would work it would either max absolutely everything out or completely drain it to a fresh start

I mean it makes sense and im just saying that its messed up for any one to do that. Yes it makes sense but even logical things aren't exactly right are they? Its logical to switch the tracks to have a train it one person I stead of five but its still messed up. But there is definitely an issue with hacking in this game at least I mean not as bad as it could be granted. But still they need to ramp up their defense and make it to where when someone or the game is hacked its extreme and noticeable. But may I ask which one involved steam because I don't have full knowledge of things that I previously mentioned and I even stated so.

You can actually have VAC bans removed if your account is hacked, I know because it happened to a friend and he was able to get the ban removed after he got his account back.
However DBD uses EAC unfortunately and afaik their policy is a lot stricter, so you can contact them and see how it goes but chances are they are not going to remove it. They have some communication with steam so I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it's highly unlikely.
I suggest you set up a 2 Auth Authentication on your steam btw so it doesn't get hacked again.

Well in this instance they would have to hack the persons steam account first to load up the DBD account as the BHVR ID is tied to that. To get into steam they generally also have to get into the person's email account.
Thats two different platforms before even getting into this game to hack it and do what was done.

As it was said before by Mandy and others, Steam has it in their EULA that you are solely responsible for any activity of your account. All platforms DBD is available on have the same line in their EULA. This issue is tied to the platform this has happened on, which is the platforms responsibility. The discussion keeps going in circles, so it's best to close it.
Never give your information to anyone and if anyone messages you for details in private messages, asking for your log in information, they're not real employees of whatever company they claim to be. Activate 2FA, make sure to regularly change your password and don't share it with others. That's the best you can do to ensure safety.
Your account - your responsibility. Please make sure to read the EULAs on the platforms you play on, as they inform you what will happen if anything happens to your account that is out of your control.
